Chapter 20 — A Brahmani Relieved from Brahmahatya and Gets Issues
Literal. Gangahar, a Brahmin at Shirol, has a wife who repeatedly loses children at birth. A Brahmin tells her: this is because she once owed money to a Brahmin of Shounak Gotra who committed suicide; his unpropitiated spirit blocks her issues. She is told to do specific prayashchitta — fast for a month, bathe at Papvinashi, worship Audumbar for seven days, do Abhishek, give Rs. 100 to a Brahmin of Shounak Gotra. She does. The spirit appears in her dream, beats her; she takes shelter under Audumbar; Shri Guru appears and confronts the spirit, who accepts the offerings and is liberated. She has two sons; the second dies of tetanus during chout (head-shaving) ceremony.
Symbolic. Spirit-debt as obstacle to lineage continuation. The chapter precisely diagnoses an inherited karmic block, prescribes specific reparations, and tracks their resolution.
Structural. 42 generations liberated by sannyas (21 paternal + 21 maternal). Rs. 100 to the Shounak-Gotra Brahmin. 7 days of Audumbar worship.
