Chapter 38 — Four Thousand Fed with Food of 3 Seers Only
Literal. A poor Brahmin named Bhaskar at Ganagapur wishes to do Samaradhna (feeding of Brahmins) for Shri Guru, but has only flour and rice for three (a seer is a unit of weight). Other Brahmins ridicule him. Shri Guru asks Bhaskar to prepare what he has; covers the food with his cloth; says: without removing the cloth, take out the articles in pots, and serve them. The food is served to thousands. The Brahmins eat. After them, wives and children are invited. Then all others in Ganagapur. Then the disciples. Finally the food is thrown into the river so the river creatures are satisfied. The chapter notes: the food was originally for three persons; it served over 4000.
Symbolic. Multiplication of resources by authorized invocation — the cleanest single example of multiplication-of-loaves-and-fishes style miracle in the book.
Structural. 3 seers of food → 4000+ fed.
