That which the wise know as the day of Brahmā lasts a thousand-yugas; the night likewise ends at a-thousand-yugas; those are the day-and-night-knowers (aho-rātra-vid).

Tonight before sleep, sit for 5 minutes with eyes closed. Begin with the arithmetic of the brahma-day (1000 mahā-yugas = 4.32 billion mortal-years per brahma-day). Then attempt to see — not infer, but see — the eight pahars of one brahma-day as a single diurnal-cycle. Notice the difference between inferring the magnitude (cognitive-arithmetic) and attempting-to-see the magnitude (perceptual-cognition). Whether or not the seeing occurs, the attempt is the sādhanā — the orientation toward āpuliyā ḍoḷām dekhatē as the criterion.
