Cluster 0305 — Adhyāya-8 Dnyāneśvarī Self-Naming Colophon

॥ इति श्रीज्ञानदेवविरचितायां भावार्थदीपिकायां अष्टमोऽध्यायः ॥

Translation

Thus the eighth chapter, in the Bhāvārtha-Dīpikā (Light-on-the-Inner-Meaning) composed by the blessed Jñānadeva.

Function

The sixth self-naming colophon in the corpus. The pattern joins the chapter-2, chapter-4, chapter-5, chapter-6, and chapter-7 colophons (clusters 0098, 0183, 0210, 0252, 0279) — each carrying the formula iti śrī-jñānadeva-viracitāyām bhāvārtha-dīpikāyām N-mo'dhyāyaḥ. Adhyāya-8 — the akṣara-brahma-yoga chapter — closes here. The Bhagavad-Gītā's own canonical chapter-colophon (Om tat sad iti . . . akṣara-brahma-yogo nāma aṣṭamo'dhyāyaḥ) sits within cluster 0304's terminal-block. This 0305 colophon is the Dnyāneśvarī's own self-naming layer on top of the BG-canonical-colophon — Jñāneśvar's signature that the Marathi commentary-work has also closed its eighth chapter.

Adhyāya-8 is theologically among the most-self-contained doctrinal arcs in the Gītā: the anta-kāla (terminal-moment) architecture, the bhrū-madhya-prāṇa-uccāra-of-Om technical Nāth-yogic technology, and the cosmological-ontological-soteriological triple-pivot (cyclic-loka → paraavyakta-substrate → akṣara-paramā-gati-by-ananya-bhakti, clusters 0295-0297) all close here. The self-naming signature is theologically apt at this chapter's close — adhyāya-8 completes a major doctrinal arc and the Dnyāneśvarī marks it as such.
