भल्याचें दरुषण । तेथें शुभ चि वचन ॥१॥ बोलावी हे धर्मनीत । क्षोभें होत नाहीं हित ॥ध्रु.॥ मर्यादा ते बरी । वेळ जाणावी चतुरीं ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे बहु । लागे ऐसें बरें मऊ ॥३॥

Literal translation

Bhalyāñce daruṣaṇa(in) the darśana of bhalyā (good-people); tethe śubha chi vachanathere śubha vachana (auspicious-speech). Bōlāvī he dharma-nītaspeak by dharma-nīti; kṣōbhe hōta nāhī hitano hita by kṣōbha. Maryādā te barīmaryādā is good; veḷa jāṇāvī chaturīmthe chatura know the veḷa. Tukā mhaṇe bahuTukā says: much; lāge aise bare mau(the world) needs such bare-mau (good-and-soft) (speech).
