ātām staūm hā paramārtha | jo sādhakāmcā nijasvārtha | nāmtarī samarthāmadhye samartha | yoga hā
Now I praise paramārtha (ultimate truth), which is the very self-interest (nija-svārtha) of the seeker (sādhaka); or rather, the mighty-among-the-mighty — this yoga.
āhe tarī parama sugama | parī janāsī jālā durgama | kām jayācem cukalem varma | satsamāgamākaḍe
It is in itself very easy to reach (parama sugama); but to [most] people it has become arduous (durgama); because the essential secret (varma) has been missed — [missed by straying] away from the company of the good (sat-samāgama).
nānā sādhanāmce udhāra | hā rokaḍā brahmasākṣātkāra | vedaśāstrīm jem sāra | tem anubhavāsa ye
Other disciplines are credit (udhāra); this is cash (rokaḍā) — direct realization of Brahman (brahma-sākṣātkāra). What is essence (sāra) in the Vedas and śāstras comes here into direct experience (anubhava).
āhe tarī cahūmkaḍe | parī aṇumātra dṛṣṭī na paḍe | udāsa parī yekīkaḍe | pāhātām disenā
It is everywhere, yet an atom's worth is not seen; it is present but on one side; when looked at, it is not visible.
ākāśamārgī gupta pamtha | jāṇatī yogiye samartha | itarāmsa hā guhyārtha | sahasā na kaḷe
The hidden path through the sky-way (ākāśa-mārga gupta pantha) — capable yogis know it; to others, this secret meaning (guhya-artha) is not readily understood.
sārācemhi nijasāra | akhamḍa akṣai apāra | neūm na sakatī taśkara | kāmhī kelyā
It is the very essence of essence itself (sārāce nija-sāra); unbroken (akhaṇḍa), imperishable (akṣaya), boundless (apāra); thieves cannot take it away, by any means.
tayāsa nāhīm rājabhaye | athavā nāhīm agnibhaye | athavāsvāpadabhaye | bolomca naye
It has no fear of the king (rāja-bhaya), no fear of fire (agni-bhaya); of the fear of wild beasts (svāpada-bhaya) — one should not even speak.
parabrahma tem hālavenā | athavā ṭhāvahī cukenā | kāḷāmtarī caḷenā | jethīcā tethem
Parabrahman does not move, or lose its place; over time it does not waver — remaining just where it is.
aisem tem nija ṭhevaṇem | kadāpi pālaṭom neṇe | athavā navhe ādika uṇem | bahutām kāḷem
Such is that innate treasure (nija ṭhevaṇa); it never changes; neither increases nor decreases — over all time.
athavā tem ghasavaṭenā | athavā adṛśya hoyenā | nāmtarī pāhātām disenā | guruamjaneviṇa
It does not wear out, nor become invisible; yet when looked for, it is not seen — without the guru's eye-ointment (guru-añjana).
māgām yogiye samartha | tyāmcāhi nijasvārtha | yāsi bolije paramārtha | paramaguhya mhaṇauni
The earlier capable yogis — even their essential interest is [this]; it is therefore called paramārtha — the supreme secret (parama-guhya).
jemhī śodhūna pāhilā | tyāsī artha sāmpaḍalā | yerām asonī alabhya jālā | janmojanmīm
Whoever has sought and investigated [it] — to them the meaning was found; to others it has been, though present, unattainable — birth after birth.
apūrvatā yā paramārthācī | vārtā nāhīm janmamṛtyācī | āṇī padavī sāyojyatecī | sannidhaci lābhem
The unprecedented greatness of paramārtha: there is no talk of birth and death; and the station of merger-unity (sāyojyatā-padavī) is gained at once (sannidha).
māyā vivekem māvaḷe | sārāsāravicāra kaḷe | parabrahma temhi nivaḷe | amtaryāmīm
Māyā fades through discernment (viveka); the reasoning of essence-vs-non-essence (sāra-asāra-vicāra) becomes clear; Parabrahman itself becomes lucid (nivaḷe) within (antaryāmī).
brahma bhāsale udamḍa | brahmīm buḍālem brahmāmḍa | pamcabhūtāmcem thotāmḍa | tuchya vāṭe
Brahman appears abundantly; the universe (brahmāṇḍa) drowns in Brahman; the spectacle (thotāṇḍa) of the five elements (pañca-bhūta) feels trivial.
prapamca vāṭe laṭikā | māyā vāṭe lāpaṇikā | śuddha ātmā vivekā- | amtarīm ālā
Worldly existence (prapañca) feels false (laṭikā); māyā feels like a mere contrivance (lāpaṇikā); the pure Self (śuddha ātmā) has come — into discernment, within.
brahmasthita bāṇatām amtarīm | samdeha gelā brahmāmḍābāherīm | dṛśyācī junī jarjarī | kuhiṭa jālī
When the Brahman-state is ingrained within, doubt has gone beyond the universe (brahmāṇḍa); the old worn-out appearance (jīrṇa jarjarī) of the visible has decayed.
aisā hā paramārtha | jo karī tyācā nijasvārtha | ātām yā samarthāsa samartha | kitī mhaṇauni mhaṇāvem
Such is paramārtha; whoever does [it, accomplishes] their own essential good. Now how much can one call this mighty-one mighty?
yā paramārthākaritām | brahmādikāmsi viśrāmatā | yogī pāvatī tanmayatā | parabrahmīm
Through paramārtha, for Brahmā and the others, there is rest (viśrāmatā); yogis attain tanmayatā (identity) — in Parabrahman.
paramārtha sakaḷāmsa visāmvā | siddha sādhu māhānubhāvām | sekhīm sātvika jaḍa jīvām | satsamgemkarūnī
Paramārtha is rest (viśrā̃vā) for all: siddhas, sādhus, great experiencers (mahānubhāva); at the last, even sāttvic inert living beings — through satsanga.
paramārtha janmācem sārthaka | paramārtha samsārīm tāraka | paramārtha dākhavī paraloka | dhārmikāsī
Paramārtha is the fulfillment (sārthaka) of birth; paramārtha is the rescue in samsāra (tāraka); paramārtha shows the world-beyond (para-loka) to the righteous (dhārmika).
paramārtha tāpasāmsī thāra | paramārtha sādhakāmsī ādhāra | paramārtha dākhavī pāra | bhavasāgarācā
Paramārtha is the refuge (thāra) of ascetics (tāpasa); paramārtha is the support (ādhāra) of seekers; paramārtha shows the far shore (pāra) of the ocean of becoming (bhava-sāgara).
paramārthī to rājyadhārī | paramārtha nāhīm to bhikārī | yā paramārthācī sarī | koṇāsa dyāvī
One who has paramārtha is a kingdom-holder (rājya-dhārī); one without paramārtha is a beggar. To what can paramārtha be even compared?
anamta janmīmcem puṇya joḍe | tarīca paramārtha ghaḍe | mukhya paramātmā ātuḍe | anubhavāsī
Only when the merit of countless births (ananta-janmī̃cẽ puṇya) has accumulated does paramārtha become possible; then the chief Paramātmā comes into [one's] experience.
jeṇem paramārtha voḷakhilā | teṇem janma sārthaka kelā | yera to pāpī janmalā | kulakṣayākāraṇem
One who has recognized paramārtha has made [one's] birth fulfilled (sārthaka); the other is a sinner born for the destruction of the lineage (kula-kṣaya).
aso bhagavatprāptīviṇa | karī samsārācā sīṇa | tyā mūrkhācem mukhāvalokana | karūmca naye
And so, without attainment of the Lord (bhagavat-prāpti), one toils in the weariness of samsāra; on such a fool, one should not even gaze.
bhalyānem paramārthīm bharāvem | śarīra sārthaka karāvem | pūrvajāmsa uddharāvem | haribhaktī karūnī
The worthy should fill [themselves] in paramārtha; make the body fulfilled (śarīra sārthaka); uplift the ancestors — through devotion to Hari.
