आकाशीं वायो जाला निर्माण । तैसी ब्रह्मीं मूळमाया जाण ।
त्या वायोमधें त्रिगुण । आणी पंचभूतें
ākāśīm vāyo jālā nirmāṇa | taisī brahmīm mūḷamāyā jāṇa |
tyā vāyomadhem triguṇa | āṇī pamcabhūtem
In ākāśa, vāyu arose; likewise in Brahma, mūla-māyā — know. / In that vāyu are tri-guṇas and pañca-bhūtas.
वटबीजीं असे वाड । फोडून पाहातां न दिसे झाड ।
नाना वृक्षांचे जुंबाड । बीजापासून होती
vaṭabījīm ase vāḍa | phoḍūna pāhātām na dise jhāḍa |
nānā vṛkṣāmce jumbāḍa | bījāpāsūna hotī
In a banyan-seed is vāda (a tree); on breaking to see, no tree appears. / Various tree-clusters arise — from a seed.
तैसी बीजरूप मुळमाया । विस्तार जाला तेथुनियां ।
तिचें स्वरूप शोधुनियां । बरें पाहावें
taisī bījarūpa muḷamāyā | vistāra jālā tethuniyām |
ticem svarūpa śodhuniyām | barem pāhāvem
Likewise the seed-form mūla-māyā — expansion came from there. / Its svarūpa should be searched — seen well.
तेथें दोनी भेद दिसती । विवेकें पाहावी प्रचिती ।
निश्चळीं जे चंचळ स्थिती । तोचि वायो
tethem donī bheda disatī | vivekem pāhāvī pracitī |
niścaḷīm je camcaḷa sthitī | toci vāyo
There two distinctions appear; by vivek, pratīti should be seen. / The moving-state within the unmoving — that itself is vāyu.
तयामधें जाणीवकळा । जगज्जोतीचा जिव्हाळा ।
वायो जाणीव मिळोन मेळा । मूळमाया बोलिजे
tayāmadhem jāṇīvakaḷā | jagajjotīcā jivhāḷā |
vāyo jāṇīva miḷona meḷā | mūḷamāyā bolije
In it is the knowing-art; the affection of jagaj-jyoti. / Vāyu joined with knowing — this is called mūla-māyā.
सरिता म्हणतां बायको भासे । तेथें पाहातां पाणीच असे ।
विवेकी हो समजा तैसें । मूळमायेसी
saritā mhaṇatām bāyako bhāse | tethem pāhātām pāṇīca ase |
vivekī ho samajā taisem | mūḷamāyesī
Saying 'saritā' (river), a woman appears [to imagination]; but on looking, it is only water. / O vivekīs, understand likewise — mūla-māyā.
वायो जाणीव जगज्जोती । तयास मूळमाया म्हणती ।
पुरुष आणी प्रकृती । याचेंच नांव
vāyo jāṇīva jagajjotī | tayāsa mūḷamāyā mhaṇatī |
puruṣa āṇī prakṛtī | yācemca nāmva
Vāyu, knowing, jagaj-jyoti — they call this mūla-māyā. / Puruṣa and prakṛti — this same name.
वायोस म्हणती प्रकृती । आणी पुरुष म्हणती जगज्जोती ।
पुरुषप्रकृती शिवशक्ती । याचेंच नांव
vāyosa mhaṇatī prakṛtī | āṇī puruṣa mhaṇatī jagajjotī |
puruṣaprakṛtī śivaśaktī | yācemca nāmva
Vāyu is called prakṛti; and jagaj-jyoti is called puruṣa. / Puruṣa-prakṛti, Śiva-Śakti — this same name.
वायोमधें जाणीव विशेष । तेंचि प्रकृतुमधें पुरुष ।
ये गोष्टीचा विश्वास । धरिला पाहिजे
vāyomadhem jāṇīva viśeṣa | temci prakṛtumadhem puruṣa |
ye goṣṭīcā viśvāsa | dharilā pāhije
In vāyu, the knowing is special; that alone is puruṣa in prakṛti. / In this matter, trust — should be held.
वायो शक्ति जाणीव ईश्वर । अर्धनारी नटेश्वर ।
लोक म्हणती निरंतर । येणें प्रकारें
vāyo śakti jāṇīva īśvara | ardhanārī naṭeśvara |
loka mhaṇatī niramtara | yeṇem prakārem
Vāyu-śakti, knowing-Īśvara, Ardhanārī-Naṭeśvara — / people say continuously — in this manner.
वायोमधें जाणीव गुण । तेंचि ईश्वराचें लक्षण ।
तयापासून त्रिगुण । पुढें जाले
vāyomadhem jāṇīva guṇa | temci īśvarācem lakṣaṇa |
tayāpāsūna triguṇa | puḍhem jāle
In vāyu, knowing-guṇa — that is the mark of Īśvara. / From that, the tri-guṇas arose — ahead.
तया गुणामधें सत्वगुण । निखळ जाणीवलक्षण ।
त्याचा देहधारी आपण । विष्णु जाला
tayā guṇāmadhem satvaguṇa | nikhaḷa jāṇīvalakṣaṇa |
tyācā dehadhārī āpaṇa | viṣṇu jālā
Among those guṇas, the sattva-guṇa — the pure knowing-mark. / Its bodily-bearer, Viṣṇu himself — became.
त्याच्या अंशे जग चाले । ऐसे भगवद्गीता बोले।
गुंतले तेंचि उगवले । विचार पाहातां
tyācyā amśe jaga cāle | aise bhagavadgītā bole |
gumtale temci ugavale | vicāra pāhātām
By his portion the world operates — so speaks the Bhagavad-gītā. / What was tangled became untangled — on considering.
येक जाणीव वांटली । प्राणीमात्रास विभागली ।
जाणजाणों वांचविली । सर्वत्र काया
yeka jāṇīva vāmṭalī | prāṇīmātrāsa vibhāgalī |
jāṇajāṇom vāmcavilī | sarvatra kāyā
One knowing was divided; distributed to every creature. / Knowing-and-knowing, all bodies were preserved.
तयेंचे नांव जगज्जोती । प्राणीमात्र तिचेन जिती ।
याची रोकडी प्रचिती । प्रत्यक्ष पाहावी
tayemce nāmva jagajjotī | prāṇīmātra ticena jitī |
yācī rokaḍī pracitī | pratyakṣa pāhāvī
Her name is jagaj-jyoti; every creature lives by her. / Her direct pratīti — should be seen directly.
पक्षी श्वापद किडा मुंगी । कोणीयेक प्राणी जगीं ।
जाणीव खेळे त्याच्या आंगीं । निरंतर
pakṣī śvāpada kiḍā mumgī | koṇīyeka prāṇī jagīm |
jāṇīva kheḷe tyācyā āmgīm | niramtara
Bird, beast, insect, ant — every creature in the world — / knowing-ness plays in their body — continuously.
जाणोनी काया पळविती । तेणें गुणें वांचती ।
दडती आणि लपती । जाणजाणों
jāṇonī kāyā paḷavitī | teṇem guṇem vāmcatī |
daḍatī āṇi lapatī | jāṇajāṇom
Knowing, the body flees; by that quality they are preserved. / They hide and conceal — knowing-and-knowing.
आवघ्या जगस वांचविती । म्हणोन नामें जगज्जोती ।
ते गेलियां प्राणी मरती । जेथील तेथें
āvaghyā jagasa vāmcavitī | mhaṇona nāmem jagajjotī |
te geliyām prāṇī maratī | jethīla tethem
All the world it preserves; hence named jagaj-jyoti. / When it goes, creatures die — where they are.
मुळींचे जाणीवेचा विकार । पुढें जाला विस्तार ।
जैसे उदकाचे तुषार । अनंत रेणु
muḷīmce jāṇīvecā vikāra | puḍhem jālā vistāra |
jaise udakāce tuṣāra | anamta reṇu
The root knowing's vikāra — became expansion ahead. / Like the sprays of water — endless particles.
तैसे देव देवता भूतें । मिथ्या म्हणोनये त्यांतें ।
आपलाल्या सामर्थ्यें ते । सृष्टीमधें फिरती
taise deva devatā bhūtem | mithyā mhaṇonaye tyāmtem |
āpalālyā sāmarthyem te | sṛṣṭīmadhem phiratī
Likewise devas, devatās, bhūtas — should not be called mithyā. / By their own powers, they roam in the sṛṣṭi.
सदा विचरती वायोस्वरूपें । स्वैछा पालटिती रूपें ।
अज्ञान प्राणी भ्रमें संकल्पें त्यास । बाधिती
sadā vicaratī vāyosvarūpem | svaichā pālaṭitī rūpem |
ajñāna prāṇī bhramem samkalpem tyāsa | bādhitī
They always roam in vāyu-svarūpa; they change forms at will. / Ignorant creatures, by bhrama-samkalpa, are afflicted by them.
ज्ञात्यास संकल्पेचि असेना । म्हणोन त्यांचेन बाधवेना ।
याकारणें आत्मज्ञाना । अभ्यासावें
jñātyāsa samkalpeci asenā | mhaṇona tyāmcena bādhavenā |
yākāraṇem ātmajñānā | abhyāsāvem
To the jñātā, samkalpa is not at all; therefore he is not afflicted. / For this reason, ātma-jñāna — should be practiced.
अभ्यासिलिया आत्मज्ञान। सर्वकर्मास होये खंडण ।
हे रोकडी प्रचित प्रमाण । संदेह नाहीं
abhyāsiliyā ātmajñāna | sarvakarmāsa hoye khamḍaṇa |
he rokaḍī pracita pramāṇa | samdeha nāhīm
When ātma-jñāna is practiced, all karmas are terminated. / This is direct pratīti as pramāṇa — no doubt.
ज्ञानेविण कर्म विघडे । हें तों कदापि न घडे ।
सद्गुरुवीण ज्ञान जोडे । हेंहि अघटीत
jñāneviṇa karma vighaḍe | hem tom kadāpi na ghaḍe |
sadguruvīṇa jñāna joḍe | hemhi aghaṭīta
Karma is undone without jñāna — this never happens. / Jñāna is found without a sadguru — this too is impossible.
म्हणोन सद्गुरु करावा । सत्संग शोधून धरावा ।
तत्वविचार विवरावा । अंतर्यामीं
mhaṇona sadguru karāvā | satsamga śodhūna dharāvā |
tatvavicāra vivarāvā | amtaryāmīm
Therefore a sadguru should be made; satsanga should be sought and held. / Tattva-vicāra should be turned over — within.
तत्वें तत्व निरसोन जातां । आपला आपणचि तत्वता ।
अनन्यभावें सार्थकता । सहजचि जाली
tatvem tatva nirasona jātām | āpalā āpaṇaci tatvatā |
ananyabhāvem sārthakatā | sahajaci jālī
When tattva is negated by tattva, oneself becomes tattvā oneself. / By ananya-bhāva, fruition — is spontaneously achieved.
विचार न करितां जें जें केलें । तें तें वाउगें वेर्थ गेलें ।
म्हणोनि विचारीं प्रवर्तलें । पाहिजे आधीं
vicāra na karitām jem jem kelem | tem tem vāugem vertha gelem |
mhaṇoni vicārīm pravartalem | pāhije ādhīm
Whatever is done without vicāra, all that is vain, useless. / Therefore, engaging in vicāra — is needed first.
विचार पाहेल तो पुरुषु । विचार न पाहे तो पशु ।
ऐसी वचनें सर्वेशु । ठाईं ठाईं बोलिला
vicāra pāhela to puruṣu | vicāra na pāhe to paśu |
aisī vacanem sarveśu | ṭhāīm ṭhāīm bolilā
He who sees by vicāra is 'puruṣa'; he who does not — is 'paśu' (beast). / Such sayings of the Sarveśa — here-and-there are spoken.
सिद्धांत साधायाकारणें । पूर्वपक्ष लागे उडवणें ।
परंतु साधकां निरूपणें । साक्षात्कार
siddhāmta sādhāyākāraṇem | pūrvapakṣa lāge uḍavaṇem |
paramtu sādhakām nirūpaṇem | sākṣātkāra
For the sake of siddhānta-accomplishment, pūrva-pakṣa must be flown off. / Yet to sādhakas by nirūpaṇa — sākṣātkāra.
श्रवण मनन निजध्यास । प्रचितीनें बाणतां विश्वास ।
रोकड साक्षात्कार सायास । करणेंचि नलगे
śravaṇa manana nijadhyāsa | pracitīnem bāṇatām viśvāsa |
rokaḍa sākṣātkāra sāyāsa | karaṇemci nalage
Śravaṇa, manana, nijadhyās — when by pratīti, trust is impressed — / cash-in-hand sākṣātkāra — effort is not needed.
