Abhanga 3160
Real surrender means fully handing your burdens to those who truly care for you, holding nothing back for yourself.
The verse
आतां तुम्ही कृपावंत । साधु संत जिवलग ॥१॥
गोमटें तें करा माझें । भार ओझें तुम्हांसी ॥ध्रु.॥
वंचिलें तें पायांपाशीं । नाहीं यासी वेगळें ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे सोडिल्या गांठी । दिली मिठी पायांसी ॥३॥
Literal translation
Ātām tumhī krpāvanta — now you are krpāvanta; sādhu sant jivalaga — sādhu-samta-jīvalaga. Gōmaṭa te karā mājhe — make my (case) gōmaṭa; bhāra ōjhe tumhāmsī — bhāra-ōjhe on you. Vamchile te pāyāmpāśīm — vamchile at feet; nāhī yāsī vegaḷe — no separation from this. Tukā mhaṇe sōḍilyā gāṇṭhī — Tukā says: knots untied; dilī miṭhī pāyāmsī — gave embrace to feet.
What it means
A surrender to sants: you-are-krpāvanta-life-friends; my-bhāra-on-you; knots-untied, feet-embraced.
For someone today
Tukārām: knots-untied, embraced-feet. The bhakta-rests at-sant-feet, all-burden-transferred.
Where this applies
- When you finally let trusted people carry a burden you have been shouldering alone
- When you stop half-trusting someone and fully hand over your worries to them
- When you feel tangled in problems and need to release the knots instead of gripping tighter
- When you find people who genuinely care and let yourself lean on them completely
