Tukārām's Hari-Name redemption. (One) becomes pure by Hari-nāma — without one moment passing. You all — say Hari, say Hari — it (is) the cutting of great-sins. Without a moment passing, (he) was taken to Vaikuṇṭha by saying Hari. (One) became pristine by the Hari-nāma — like the Gangā-water. The procuress and Bhillī were uplifted — taken to Vaikuṇṭha by saying Hari. Therefore — Tukā falls at (your) feet — refuge to that Hari. The verse permits the canonical Hari-Name redemption with named-historical-examples.
The verse
Literal translation
Hōtī Hari-nāme chokhaṭa — (one) becomes chokhaṭa by Hari-nāma; kṣaṇa eka na lagatām — without one kṣaṇa passing. Tumhī Hari mhaṇā Hari mhaṇā — you all say Hari, say Hari; mahā-dōṣāñce chedanā — the chedanā of mahā-dōṣa. Kṣaṇa na lagatām nelā — without a kṣaṇa passing, (he) was taken; Vaikuṇṭhāsī Hari mhaṇatām — to Vaikuṇṭha by saying Hari. Jālā Hari-nāme nirmaḷa — (one) became nirmaḷa by Hari-nāma; Gangā-jaḷa paim jaisā — like Gangā-jaḷa. Kuṇṭanī Bhilī uddharile — kuṇṭanī, Bhilī, were uddhārilē; Vaikuṇṭhāsī Hari mhaṇatām — to Vaikuṇṭha by saying Hari. Mhaṇōnī Tukā lāge pāyām — therefore Tukā falls at feet; śaraṇa tayā Harīsī — refuge to that Hari.
What it means
A 5-verse Hari-Name redemption text by Tukārām. The argument: Hari-Name makes-chokhaṭa-in-one-kṣaṇa; it-cuts-mahā-dōṣa; the kuṇṭanī (procuress, from Ajāmīḷa-tradition) and-Bhillī (Śabarī, tribal-woman of-Rāma-tradition) were-taken-to-Vaikuṇṭha by-saying-Hari. Therefore: Tukā-falls-at-feet, takes-refuge in-that-Hari.
Compare-Tukārām's 3076 (kuṇṭanī-saved-by-trust-in-Rāghōbā), 2787 (Ajāmīḷa-Bhillī-Kuṇṭanī-Vālmīka redemption-list), 3037 (Nāme-Viṭṭhalāchiyā 5-fold).
