Abhanga 4416

Come, Mahā-Viṣṇu of ananta-bhuja, to our anāthāñce māhera.

Tukārām's come-to-our-māhera; show-feet-in-eyes yearning

The verse

Literal translation

Come, Mahā-Viṣṇu of ananta-bhuja, to our anāthāñce māhera. My jīva pulled to meet — show feet once in eyes. No other ārta, Nārāyaṇa — only this vāsanā to meet. What vichāra in chitti — to behold sundara charaṇa. Tukā: fulfill my manōratha — come without delay, Pāṇḍurangā.

What it means

A yearning-petition. The anāthāñce-māhera (orphan's-mother's-house) image is striking — we are the orphan-bhaktas, and your-coming is to-mother's-house.

For someone today

Tukārām's yearning: come-to-our-māhera; show-feet.
