ज्ञाता सुटला ज्ञानमतें । परंतु जन्म कैसा बद्धातें ।
बद्धाचें काये जन्मतें । अंतकाळीं
jñātā suṭalā jñānamatem | paramtu janma kaisā baddhātem |
baddhācem kāye janmatem | amtakāḷīm
The jñātā was released by jñāna-doctrine; but how is birth for the baddha? / What of the bound is born — at the end-time?
बद्ध प्राणी मरोन गेले । तेथें कांहींच नाहीं उरलें ।
जाणिवेचे विस्मरण जालें । मरणापूर्वी
baddha prāṇī marona gele | tethem kāmhīmca nāhīm uralem |
jāṇivece vismaraṇa jālem | maraṇāpūrvī
Bound creatures died and went; there nothing remained. / Of knowing, vismaraṇa had occurred — before death.
ऐसी घेतली आशंका । याचें उत्तर ऐका ।
आतां दुश्चीत होऊं नका । म्हणे वक्ता
aisī ghetalī āśamkā | yācem uttara aikā |
ātām duścīta hoūm nakā | mhaṇe vaktā
Such was the doubt taken up. Hear its answer. / 'Now do not be distracted,' says the vaktā.
पंचप्राण स्थळें सोडिती । प्राणरूप वासनावृत्ती ।
वासनामिश्रीत प्राण जाती । देह सोडुनिया
pamcaprāṇa sthaḷem soḍitī | prāṇarūpa vāsanāvṛttī |
vāsanāmiśrīta prāṇa jātī | deha soḍuniyā
The pañca-prāṇas leave their places — the prāṇa-form vāsanā-vṛtti. / Vāsanā-mixed prāṇas go — leaving the body.
वायोसरिसी वासना गेली । ते वायोरूपेंचि राहिली ।
पुन्हां जन्म घेऊन आली । हेतुपरत्वें
vāyosarisī vāsanā gelī | te vāyorūpemci rāhilī |
punhām janma gheūna ālī | hetuparatvem
Along with vāyu, the vāsanā went; it remained in vāyu-form. / Again taking birth, it came — per the hetu.
कित्येक प्राणी निःशेष मरती । पुन्हां मागुते जीव येती ।
ढकलून दिल्हें तेणें दुखवती । हस्तपादादिक
kityeka prāṇī niḥśeṣa maratī | punhām māgute jīva yetī |
ḍhakalūna dilhem teṇem dukhavatī | hastapādādika
Several creatures die completely; again, jīvas come back. / They said 'give a push' — hurt in hand-and-foot etc.
सर्पदृष्टी जालियां वरी । तीं दिवसां उठवी धन्वंतरी ।
तेव्हां ते माघारी । वासना येते कीं
sarpadṛṣṭī jāliyām varī | tīm divasām uṭhavī dhanvamtarī |
tevhām te māghārī | vāsanā yete kīm
Once serpent-sight has fallen, days later Dhanvantari raises [them]. / Then, backwards — vāsanā comes [back].
कित्येक सेवें होऊन पडती । कित्येक तयांस उठविती ।
येमलोकींहून आणिती । माघारे प्राणी
kityeka sevem hoūna paḍatī | kityeka tayāmsa uṭhavitī |
yemalokīmhūna āṇitī | māghāre prāṇī
Several fall by service; several raise them up. / From Yama-loka they bring — creatures back.
कित्येक पुर्वीं श्रापिले । ते शापें देह पावले ।
उश्रापकाळीं पुन्हां आले । पूर्वदेहीं
kityeka purvīm śrāpile | te śāpem deha pāvale |
uśrāpakāḷīm punhām āle | pūrvadehīm
Several formerly were cursed; by curse they attained [changed] body. / At uṣrāpa-time (curse's end), they came again — to prior body.
कित्येकीं बहु जन्म घेतले । कित्येक परकाया प्रवेशले ।
ऐसे आले आणी गेले । बहुत लोक
kityekīm bahu janma ghetale | kityeka parakāyā praveśale |
aise āle āṇī gele | bahuta loka
Several have taken many births; several have entered other bodies (para-kāyā praveśa). / Such came and went — many people.
फुंकल्यासरिसा वायो गेला । तेथें वायोसून निर्माण जाला ।
म्हणोन वायोरूप वासनेला । ज्नम आहे
phumkalyāsarisā vāyo gelā | tethem vāyosūna nirmāṇa jālā |
mhaṇona vāyorūpa vāsanelā | jnama āhe
On exhaling, the vāyu went; from that vāyu, creation came. / Therefore vāyu-form vāsanā — has birth.
मनाच्या वृत्ती नाना । त्यांत जन्म घेते वासना ।
वासना पाहातां दिसेना । परंतु आहे
manācyā vṛttī nānā | tyāmta janma ghete vāsanā |
vāsanā pāhātām disenā | paramtu āhe
The vṛttis of mind are various; in these, vāsanā takes birth. / Vāsanā on looking is not seen; yet it is.
वासना जाणिजे जाणिवहेत । जाणीव मुळींचा मूळतंत ।
मूळमायेंत असे मिश्रित । कारणरूपें
vāsanā jāṇije jāṇivaheta | jāṇīva muḷīmcā mūḷatamta |
mūḷamāyemta ase miśrita | kāraṇarūpem
Vāsanā is known as knowing-hetu; knowing is the root-thread at the root. / In mūla-māyā it is mixed — in cause-form.
कारणरूप आहे ब्रह्मांडीं । कार्यरूपें वर्ते पिंडीं ।
अनुमानितां तांतडीं । अनुमानेना
kāraṇarūpa āhe brahmāmḍīm | kāryarūpem varte pimḍīm |
anumānitām tāmtaḍīm | anumānenā
Cause-form is in brahmāṇḍa; effect-form operates in piṇḍa. / Inferring hastily, it is not inferred.
परंतु आहे सूक्ष्मरूप । जैसें वायोचे स्वरूप ।
सकळ देव वायोरूप । आणी भूतसृष्टि
paramtu āhe sūkṣmarūpa | jaisem vāyoce svarūpa |
sakaḷa deva vāyorūpa | āṇī bhūtasṛṣṭi
Yet it is in subtle form, like the svarūpa of vāyu. / All devas are vāyu-form — and the bhūta-sṛṣṭi.
वायोमधें विकार नाना । वायो पाहातां तरी दिसेना ।
तैसी जाणीववासना । अति सूक्ष्म
vāyomadhem vikāra nānā | vāyo pāhātām tarī disenā |
taisī jāṇīvavāsanā | ati sūkṣma
In vāyu, many vikāras; on looking, vāyu is not seen. / Likewise knowing-vāsanā is extremely subtle.
त्रिगुण आणी पंचभूतें । हे वायोमध्यें मिश्रिते ।
अनुमानेना म्हणोन त्यातें । मिथ्या म्हणों नये
triguṇa āṇī pamcabhūtem | he vāyomadhyem miśrite |
anumānenā mhaṇona tyātem | mithyā mhaṇom naye
Tri-guṇas and pañca-bhūtas are mixed in vāyu. / Because it is not inferred, one should not call it mithyā.
सहज वायो चाले । तरी सुगंध दुर्गंध कळों आले ।
उष्ण सीतळ तप्त निवाले । प्रत्यक्ष प्राणी
sahaja vāyo cāle | tarī sugamdha durgamdha kaḷom āle |
uṣṇa sītaḷa tapta nivāle | pratyakṣa prāṇī
When vāyu naturally flows, fragrance-and-stench are known; / hot, cold, scorching, cooling — [experienced by] direct creatures.
वायोचेनि मेघ वोळती । वायोचेनि नक्षत्रें चालती ।
सकळ सृष्टीची वर्तती गती । सकळ तो वायो
vāyoceni megha voḷatī | vāyoceni nakṣatrem cālatī |
sakaḷa sṛṣṭīcī vartatī gatī | sakaḷa to vāyo
By vāyu, clouds pour; by vāyu, stars move. / All the world's motion proceeds — all is vāyu.
वायोरूपें देवतें भूतें । आंगीं भरती अकस्मातें ।
वीध केलियां प्रेतें । सावध होतीं
vāyorūpem devatem bhūtem | āmgīm bharatī akasmātem |
vīdha keliyām pretem | sāvadha hotīm
In vāyu-form, devatā-bhūtas fill the body suddenly. / When ritual (vidhi) is done, corpses become alert.
वारें निराळें न बोले । देहामधें भरोन डोले ।
आळी घेऊन जन्मा आले । कित्येक प्राणी
vārem nirāḷem na bole | dehāmadhem bharona ḍole |
āḷī gheūna janmā āle | kityeka prāṇī
The wind unseen does not speak; in the body it fills and sways. / Taking a vow, several creatures came to birth.
राहाणें ब्रह्मणसमंध जाती । राहाणें ठेवणीं सांपडती ।
नाना गुंतले उगवती । प्रत्यक्ष राहाणें
rāhāṇem brahmaṇasamamdha jātī | rāhāṇem ṭhevaṇīm sāmpaḍatī |
nānā gumtale ugavatī | pratyakṣa rāhāṇem
The Brahmin-ghost-relation-afflictions; the buried-treasure is found; / various entangled ones are released — direct incidents.
ऐसा वायोचा विकार । येवंचे कळेना विस्तार ।
सकळ कांहीं चराचर । वायोमुळें
aisā vāyocā vikāra | yevamce kaḷenā vistāra |
sakaḷa kāmhīm carācara | vāyomuḷem
Such is the vikāra of vāyu; its expanse cannot be grasped. / All things, moving-unmoving — [are] due to vāyu.
वायो स्तब्धरूपें सृष्टीधर्ता । वायो चंचळरूपें सृष्टीकर्ता ।
न कळे तरी विचारीं प्रवर्ता । म्हणिजे कळे
vāyo stabdharūpem sṛṣṭīdhartā | vāyo camcaḷarūpem sṛṣṭīkartā |
na kaḷe tarī vicārīm pravartā | mhaṇije kaḷe
Vāyu in still form is the sustainer of sṛṣṭi; vāyu in motile form is the creator of sṛṣṭi. / If not grasped, engage in vicāra — then it is grasped.
मुळापासून सेवटवरी । वायोचि सकळ कांहीं करी ।
वायोवेगळें कर्तुत्व चतुरीं मज निरोपावें
muḷāpāsūna sevaṭavarī | vāyoci sakaḷa kāmhīm karī |
vāyovegaḷem kartutva caturīm maja niropāvem
From root to end, vāyu alone does everything. / Apart from vāyu, an agency — let the discerning tell me.
जाणीवरूप मूळमाया । जाणीव जाते आपल्या ठाया ।
गुप्त प्रगट होऊनियां । विश्वीं वर्ते
jāṇīvarūpa mūḷamāyā | jāṇīva jāte āpalyā ṭhāyā |
gupta pragaṭa hoūniyām | viśvīm varte
Knowing-form is mūla-māyā; knowing goes to its own place. / Becoming hidden, becoming manifest — it functions in the world.
कोठें गुप्त कोठें प्रगटे । जैसें जीवन उफाळे आटे ।
पुढें मागुता वोघ लोटे । भूमंडळीं
koṭhem gupta koṭhem pragaṭe | jaisem jīvana uphāḷe āṭe |
puḍhem māgutā vogha loṭe | bhūmamḍaḷīm
Somewhere hidden, somewhere manifest — like water surging and receding. / Ahead, the current rushes back — on earth.
तैसाच वायोमधें जाणीवप्रकार । उमटे आटे निरंतर ।
कोठें विकारें कोठें समीर । उगाच वाजे
taisāca vāyomadhem jāṇīvaprakāra | umaṭe āṭe niramtara |
koṭhem vikārem koṭhem samīra | ugāca vāje
Likewise, in vāyu, the knowing-mode — rises, subsides continuously. / Somewhere with vikāra, somewhere the breeze just blows.
वारीं आंगावरून जाती । तेणें हातपाये वाळती ।
वारां वाजतां करपती । आलीं पिकें
vārīm āmgāvarūna jātī | teṇem hātapāye vāḷatī |
vārām vājatām karapatī | ālīm pikem
Winds pass over the body; by that, hands and feet wither. / By winds' gusts, ripened crops shrivel.
नाना रोगांचीं नाना वारीं । पीडा करिती पृथ्वीवरी ।
वीज कडाडी अंबरीं । वायोमुळें
nānā rogāmcīm nānā vārīm | pīḍā karitī pṛthvīvarī |
vīja kaḍāḍī ambarīm | vāyomuḷem
Various winds of various diseases — afflict on the earth. / Lightning crackles in the sky — due to vāyu.
वायोकरितां रागोद्धार । कळे वोळखीचा निर्धार ।
दीप लागे मेघ पडे हा चमत्कार । रागोद्धारीं
vāyokaritām rāgoddhāra | kaḷe voḷakhīcā nirdhāra |
dīpa lāge megha paḍe hā camatkāra | rāgoddhārīm
By vāyu, rāga-udghāra (raga-execution) [occurs]; the mark of recognition is known. / Lamp lights, cloud falls — such a miracle — in rāga-udghāra.
वायो फुंकितां भुली पडती । वायो फुंकितां खांडकें करपती ।
वायोकरितां चालती । नाना मंत्र
vāyo phumkitām bhulī paḍatī | vāyo phumkitām khāmḍakem karapatī |
vāyokaritām cālatī | nānā mamtra
Vāyu blown, stupor falls; vāyu blown, limbs wither. / By vāyu, various mantras operate.
मंत्रें देव प्रगटती । मंत्रें भूतें अखरकिती ।
बाजीगरी वोडंबरी करिती । मंत्रसामर्थ्यें
mamtrem deva pragaṭatī | mamtrem bhūtem akharakitī |
bājīgarī voḍambarī karitī | mamtrasāmarthyem
By mantras, devas become manifest; by mantras, bhūtas are gathered. / Jugglers do conjuring — by mantra-power.
राक्षसांची मावरचना । ते हे देवांदिकां कळेना ।
विचित्र सामर्थ्यें नाना । स्तंबनमोहनादिकें
rākṣasāmcī māvaracanā | te he devāmdikām kaḷenā |
vicitra sāmarthyem nānā | stambanamohanādikem
The rākṣasa's illusion-creation — is not known even to devas. / Various wondrous powers — stambhana, mohana, etc.
धडचि पिसें करावें । पिसेंच उमजवावें ।
नाना विकार सांगावे । किती म्हणोनी
dhaḍaci pisem karāvem | pisemca umajavāvem |
nānā vikāra sāmgāve | kitī mhaṇonī
A normal one is made mad; a mad one is made to understand; / various vikāras to tell — how many?
मंत्रीं संग्राम देवाचा । मंत्रीं साभिमान ऋषीचा ।
महिमा मंत्रसामर्थ्याचा । कोण जाणे
mamtrīm samgrāma devācā | mamtrīm sābhimāna ṛṣīcā |
mahimā mamtrasāmarthyācā | koṇa jāṇe
In mantras are the deva's battles; in mantras the ṛṣī's self-reliance. / The greatness of mantra-power — who knows?
मंत्रीं पक्षी आटोपिती । मूशकें स्वापदें बांधती ।
मंत्रीं माहसर्प खिळिती । आणी धनलाभ
mamtrīm pakṣī āṭopitī | mūśakem svāpadem bāmdhatī |
mamtrīm māhasarpa khiḷitī | āṇī dhanalābha
In mantras, birds are controlled; mice and beasts are bound. / In mantras, great serpents are pinned down — and wealth-gain.
आतां असो हा प्रश्न जाला । बद्धाचा जन्म प्रत्यया आला ।
मागील प्रश्न फिटला । श्रोतयाचा
ātām aso hā praśna jālā | baddhācā janma pratyayā ālā |
māgīla praśna phiṭalā | śrotayācā
