अवतारादिक ज्ञानी संत । सारासारविचारें मुक्त ।
त्यांचे सामर्थ्य चालत । कोण्या प्रकारें
avatārādika jñānī samta | sārāsāravicārem mukta |
tyāmce sāmarthya cālata | koṇyā prakārem
Avatāras etc. — jñānī-saints — by sāra-asāra-vicāra became mukta. / Their power operates — in what manner?
हें श्रोतयांची आशंका । पाहातां प्रश्न केला निका ।
सावध होऊन ऐका । म्हणे वक्ता
hem śrotayāmcī āśamkā | pāhātām praśna kelā nikā |
sāvadha hoūna aikā | mhaṇe vaktā
This is the listeners' doubt; a fine question was made. / 'Be alert and hear,' says the vaktā.
ज्ञानी मुक्त होऊन गेले । मागें त्यांचे सामर्थ्य चाले ।
परंतु ते नाहीं आले । वासना धरूनी
jñānī mukta hoūna gele | māgem tyāmce sāmarthya cāle |
paramtu te nāhīm āle | vāsanā dharūnī
The jñānīs became mukta and departed; behind, their power operates. / But they have not come [back] — holding vāsanā.
लोकांस होतो चमत्कार । लोक मानिती साचार ।
परंतु याचा विचार । पाहिला पाहिजे
lokāmsa hoto camatkāra | loka mānitī sācāra |
paramtu yācā vicāra | pāhilā pāhije
The miracle happens to people; people take it as genuine. / But its consideration — should be examined.
जीत अस्तां नेणों किती । जनामधें चमत्कार होती ।
ऐसियाची सद्य प्रचिती । रोकडी पाहावी
jīta astām neṇom kitī | janāmadhem camatkāra hotī |
aisiyācī sadya pracitī | rokaḍī pāhāvī
While alive, who knows how many miracles occur among people? / Such direct pratīti — should be seen — cash-in-hand.
तो तरी आपण नाहीं गेला । लोकीं प्रत्यक्ष देखिला ।
ऐसा चमत्कार जाला । यास काये म्हणावें
to tarī āpaṇa nāhīm gelā | lokīm pratyakṣa dekhilā |
aisā camatkāra jālā | yāsa kāye mhaṇāvem
Then, he himself has not gone; among people he was directly seen. / Such a miracle occurred — how should this be called?
तरी तो लोकांचा भावार्थ । भाविकां देव येथार्थ ।
अनेत्र कल्पना वेर्थ । कुतर्काची
tarī to lokāmcā bhāvārtha | bhāvikām deva yethārtha |
anetra kalpanā vertha | kutarkācī
It is the bhāvārtha of people; to the faithful, Deva is genuine. / Eyeless-kalpanā is vain — of ill-reasoning.
आवडे तें स्वप्नीं देखिलें। तरीकाय तेथून आलें ।
म्हणाल तेणें आठविलें । तरी द्रव्य कां दिसे
āvaḍe tem svapnīm dekhilem | tarīkāya tethūna ālem |
mhaṇāla teṇem āṭhavilem | tarī dravya kām dise
What is liked is seen in dream; has it thereby come from there? / If one says 'it was remembered,' then why does wealth not appear?
एवं आपली कल्पना । स्वप्नीं येती पदार्थ नाना ।
परी ते पदार्थ चालतीना । अथवा आठऊ नाहीं
evam āpalī kalpanā | svapnīm yetī padārtha nānā |
parī te padārtha cālatīnā | athavā āṭhaū nāhīm
Thus, one's own kalpanā — various objects come in dream; / yet those objects do not function — nor is there remembrance of them.
येथें तुटली आशंका । ज्ञात्यास जन्म कल्पूं नका ।
उमजेना तरी विवेका । बरें पाहा
yethem tuṭalī āśamkā | jñātyāsa janma kalpūm nakā |
umajenā tarī vivekā | barem pāhā
Here the doubt is cut; do not imagine birth for the jñātā. / If not understood, look to vivek — see well.
ज्ञानी मुक्त होऊन गेले । त्यांचें सामर्थ्य उगेचि चाले ।
कां जे पुण्यमार्गें चालिलें । म्हणोनियां
jñānī mukta hoūna gele | tyāmcem sāmarthya ugeci cāle |
kām je puṇyamārgem cālilem | mhaṇoniyām
Jñānīs have become mukta and gone; their power simply operates. / Because [they] walked the puṇya-path — therefore.
याकारणें पुण्यमार्गें चालावें । भजन देवाचें वाढवावें ।
न्याये सांडून न जावें । अन्यायमार्गें
yākāraṇem puṇyamārgem cālāvem | bhajana devācem vāḍhavāvem |
nyāye sāmḍūna na jāvem | anyāyamārgem
For this reason, walk the puṇya-path; increase the bhajana of Deva. / Do not abandon justice — do not walk the adharma-path.
नानापुरश्चरणें करावीं । नाना तीर्थाटणें फीरावीं ।
नाना सामर्थ्यें वाढवावीं। वैराग्यबळें
nānāpuraścaraṇem karāvīm | nānā tīrthāṭaṇem phīrāvīm |
nānā sāmarthyem vāḍhavāvīm | vairāgyabaḷem
Various puraścaraṇas should be done; various tīrtha-āṭaṇas wandered; / various powers grown — by vairāgya-bala.
निश्चये बैसे वस्तूकडे । तरी ज्ञानमार्गेंहि सामर्थ्य चढे ।
कोणीयेक येकांत मोडे । ऐसें न करावें
niścaye baise vastūkaḍe | tarī jñānamārgemhi sāmarthya caḍhe |
koṇīyeka yekāmta moḍe | aisem na karāvem
If the resolve sits on Vastu — then by jñāna-mārga too, power mounts. / Do not cause some one-pointedness (ekānta) to break.
येक गुरु येक देव । कोठें तरी असावा भाव ।
भावार्थ नस्तां वाव । सर्व कांहीं
yeka guru yeka deva | koṭhem tarī asāvā bhāva |
bhāvārtha nastām vāva | sarva kāmhīm
One guru, one Deva — somewhere there should be bhāva. / Without bhāvārtha, all is vain.
निर्गुणीं ज्ञान जालें । म्हणोन सगुण अलक्ष केलें ।
तरी तें ज्ञातें नागवलें । दोहिंकडे
nirguṇīm jñāna jālem | mhaṇona saguṇa alakṣa kelem |
tarī tem jñātem nāgavalem | dohimkaḍe
'Jñāna has arisen in nirguṇa' — so the saguṇa is ignored; / then that jñātā has been stripped — on both sides.
नाहीं भक्ती नाहीं ज्ञान । मधेंच पैसावला अभिमान ।
म्हणोनियां जपध्यान । सांडूंच नये
nāhīm bhaktī nāhīm jñāna | madhemca paisāvalā abhimāna |
mhaṇoniyām japadhyāna | sāmḍūmca naye
No bhakti, no jñāna; in the middle pride-and-self-esteem entered. / Therefore japa and dhyāna — should not be abandoned.
सांडील सगुणभजनासी । तरी तो ज्ञाता परी अपेसी ।
म्हणोनियां सगुणभजनासी । सांडूंच नये
sāmḍīla saguṇabhajanāsī | tarī to jñātā parī apesī |
mhaṇoniyām saguṇabhajanāsī | sāmḍūmca naye
He who abandons saguṇa-bhajana — he is a jñātā but inauspicious. / Therefore saguṇa-bhajana — should not be abandoned.
निःकाम बुद्धीचिया भजना । त्रैलोकीं नाहीं तुळणा ।
समर्थेंविण घडेना । निःकाम भजन
niḥkāma buddhīciyā bhajanā | trailokīm nāhīm tuḷaṇā |
samarthemviṇa ghaḍenā | niḥkāma bhajana
Niṣkāma-buddhi's bhajana — in the three worlds it has no equal. / Without the Samartha, it does not happen — the niṣkāma-bhajana.
कामनेनें फळ घडे । निःकाम भजनें भगवंत जोडे ।
फळभगवंता कोणीकडे । महदांतर
kāmanenem phaḷa ghaḍe | niḥkāma bhajanem bhagavamta joḍe |
phaḷabhagavamtā koṇīkaḍe | mahadāmtara
By desire, fruit comes; by niṣkāma-bhajana, Bhagavant is joined. / Fruit, Bhagavant — which side is the greater?
नाना फळे देवापासी । आणी फळ अंतरीं भगवंतासी ।
याकारणें परमेश्वरासी । निःकाम भजावें
nānā phaḷe devāpāsī | āṇī phaḷa amtarīm bhagavamtāsī |
yākāraṇem parameśvarāsī | niḥkāma bhajāvem
Various fruits [come] from Deva; the fruit inwardly is Bhagavant. / For this reason, Parameśvara — should be worshipped niṣkāma.
निःकामभजनाचें फळ आगळे । सामर्थ्य चढे मर्यादावेगळें ।
तेथें बापुडी फळें । कोणीकडे
niḥkāmabhajanācem phaḷa āgaḷe | sāmarthya caḍhe maryādāvegaḷem |
tethem bāpuḍī phaḷem | koṇīkaḍe
The fruit of niṣkāma-bhajana is extraordinary; power mounts beyond measure. / There the petty fruits — are where?
भक्तें जें मनीं धरावें । तें देवें आपणचि करावें ।
तेथें वेगळें भावावें । नलगे कदा
bhaktem jem manīm dharāvem | tem devem āpaṇaci karāvem |
tethem vegaḷem bhāvāvem | nalage kadā
What the bhakta holds in mind — that Deva himself does. / There, a separateness to be imagined — is never needed.
दोनी सामर्थ्यें येक होतां । काळास नाटोपे सर्वथा ।
तेथें इतरांसी कोण कथा । कीटकन्यायें
donī sāmarthyem yeka hotām | kāḷāsa nāṭope sarvathā |
tethem itarāmsī koṇa kathā | kīṭakanyāyem
When the two powers become one, Time itself is not overcome. / There, for others, what to say — by the ant-logic?
म्हणोनि निःकाम भजन । वरी विशेष ब्रह्मज्ञान ।
तयास तुळितां त्रिभुवन । उणें वाटे ॥ २५ ।
येथें बुद्धीचा प्रकाश । आणिक न चढे विशेष ।
प्रताप कीर्ती आणी येश । निरंतर
mhaṇoni niḥkāma bhajana | varī viśeṣa brahmajñāna |
tayāsa tuḷitām tribhuvana | uṇem vāṭe || 25 |
yethem buddhīcā prakāśa | āṇika na caḍhe viśeṣa |
pratāpa kīrtī āṇī yeśa | niramtara
Therefore niṣkāma-bhajana, with special brahma-jñāna above — / on weighing, the three worlds seem deficient. / Here the prakāśa of buddhi; nothing special beyond rises. / Pratāpa, kīrti, yaśa — continuously.
निरूपणाचा विचार । आणी हरिकथेचा गजर ।
तेथें होती तत्पर । प्राणीमात्र
nirūpaṇācā vicāra | āṇī harikathecā gajara |
tethem hotī tatpara | prāṇīmātra
The consideration of nirūpaṇa, and the reverberation of Hari-kathā — / there every creature becomes eager.
जेथें भ्रष्टाकार घडेना । तो परमार्थहि दडेना ।
समाधान विघडेना । निश्चयाचें
jethem bhraṣṭākāra ghaḍenā | to paramārthahi daḍenā |
samādhāna vighaḍenā | niścayācem
Where defilement does not occur, there paramārtha does not hide; / samādhāna is not disturbed — of certainty.
सारासारव्हिचार करणें । न्याये अन्याये अखंड पाहाणें ।
बुद्धि भगवंताचें देणें । पालटेना
sārāsāravhicāra karaṇem | nyāye anyāye akhamḍa pāhāṇem |
buddhi bhagavamtācem deṇem | pālaṭenā
Sāra-asāra-vicāra should be done; justice-injustice should be seen continuously; / Bhagavant's gift of buddhi — does not change.
भक्त भगवंतीं अनन्य । त्यासी बुद्धी देतो आपण ।
येदर्थीं भगवद्वचन । सावध ऐका
bhakta bhagavamtīm ananya | tyāsī buddhī deto āpaṇa |
yedarthīm bhagavadvacana | sāvadha aikā
The bhakta in Bhagavant with ananyatā — to him, [Bhagavant] himself gives buddhi. / On this topic, Bhagavad-speech — attentively hear.
श्लोकार्ध ॥ ददामि बुद्धियोगं तं येन मामुपयांति ते ॥
म्हणौन सगुण भजन । वरी विशेष ब्रह्मज्ञान ।
प्रत्ययाचें समाधान । दुर्ल्लभ जगीं
ślokārdha || dadāmi buddhiyogam tam yena māmupayāmti te ||
mhaṇauna saguṇa bhajana | varī viśeṣa brahmajñāna |
pratyayācem samādhāna | durllabha jagīm
[Ślokārdha: dadāmi buddhi-yogam tam yena mām upayānti te] / Therefore saguṇa-bhajana, with special brahma-jñāna above — / the pratyaya's samādhāna — is rare in the world.
