rekhecem gumḍāḷem kelem | mātrukākṣarīm śabda jāle |
śabda meḷaūna cāle | śloka gadya prabamda
Line-coils are made; in the mātṛkā-letters, words arose; / joining words — śloka, gadya, prabandha proceed.
वेदशास्त्रें पुराणें । नाना काव्यें निरूपणें ।
ग्रंथभेद अनुवादणें । किती म्हणोनि
vedaśāstrem purāṇem | nānā kāvyem nirūpaṇem |
gramthabheda anuvādaṇem | kitī mhaṇoni
Vedas, śāstras, Purāṇas; various kāvyas, nirūpaṇas; / grantha-divisions being recited — how many to tell?
नाना ऋषी नाना मतें । पाहों जातां असंख्यातें ।
भाषा लिपी जेथ तेथें । काये उणें
nānā ṛṣī nānā matem | pāhom jātām asamkhyātem |
bhāṣā lipī jetha tethem | kāye uṇem
Various ṛṣis, various doctrines — on looking, innumerable. / Languages, scripts everywhere — what lacks?
वर्ग ऋचा श्रुति स्मृति । अधे स्वर्ग स्तबक जाती ।
प्रसंग मानें समास पोथी । बहुधा नामें
varga ṛcā śruti smṛti | adhe svarga stabaka jātī |
prasamga mānem samāsa pothī | bahudhā nāmem
Varga, ṛcā, śruti, smṛti; adhyāya, svarga, stabaka, jāti; / prasanga, māna, samāsa, pothī — many names.
नाना पदें नाना श्लोक । नाना बीर नाना कडक ।
नाना साख्या दोहडे अनेक । नामाभिधानें
nānā padem nānā śloka | nānā bīra nānā kaḍaka |
nānā sākhyā dohaḍe aneka | nāmābhidhānem
Various padas, various ślokas; various vīras, various kaḍakas; / various sākhyās, dohās — many name-designations.
डफगाणें माचिगाणें । दंडिगाणें कथागाणें ।
नाना मानें नाना जसनें । नाना खेळ
ḍaphagāṇem mācigāṇem | damḍigāṇem kathāgāṇem |
nānā mānem nānā jasanem | nānā kheḷa
Ḍapha-singing, māci-singing; daṇḍi-singing, kathā-singing; / various mānas, various jasnas — various plays.
ध्वनि घोष नाद रेखा । चहुं वाचामध्यें देखा ।
वाचारूपेंहि ऐका । नाना भेद
dhvani ghoṣa nāda rekhā | cahum vācāmadhyem dekhā |
vācārūpemhi aikā | nānā bheda

उन्मेष परा ध्वनि पश्यंति । नाद मध्यमा शब्द चौथी ।
वैखरीपासून उमटती । नाना शब्दरत्नें
unmeṣa parā dhvani paśyamti | nāda madhyamā śabda cauthī |
vaikharīpāsūna umaṭatī | nānā śabdaratnem
Unmeṣa-Parā, dhvani-Paśyantī, nāda-Madhyamā, śabda-fourth; / from Vaikharī rise — various word-gems.
अकार उकार मकार । अर्धमात्राचें अंतर ।
औटमात्रा तदनंतर । बावन मात्रुका
akāra ukāra makāra | ardhamātrācem amtara |
auṭamātrā tadanamtara | bāvana mātrukā
A, U, M, and the inner-difference of the half-mātrā; / three-and-a-half mātrās thereafter — fifty-two mātṛkās.
नाना भेद रागज्ञान । नृत्यभेद तानमान ।
अर्थभेद तत्वज्ञान । विवंचना
nānā bheda rāgajñāna | nṛtyabheda tānamāna |
arthabheda tatvajñāna | vivamcanā
Various divisions, rāga-jñāna; dance-divisions, rhythm-measure; / meaning-divisions, tattva-jñāna — sifting.
तत्वांमध्यें मुख्य तत्व । तें जाणावें शुद्धसत्व ।
अर्धमात्रा महत्तत्व । मूळमाया
tatvāmmadhyem mukhya tatva | tem jāṇāvem śuddhasatva |
ardhamātrā mahattatva | mūḷamāyā
Among tattvas, the chief tattva — know as śuddha-sattva. / The half-mātrā is mahat-tattva — mūla-māyā.
नाना तत्वें लाहानथोरे । मिळोन अष्टहि शरीरें ।
अष्टधा प्रकृतीचें वारें । निघोन जातें
nānā tatvem lāhānathore | miḷona aṣṭahi śarīrem |
aṣṭadhā prakṛtīcem vārem | nighona jātem
Various tattvas, small-and-great — joined in the eight bodies; / the wind of aṣṭadhā-prakṛti — goes out.
वारें नस्तां जें गगन । तैसें परब्रह्म सघन ।
अष्ट देहाचें निर्शन । करून पाहावें
vārem nastām jem gagana | taisem parabrahma saghana |
aṣṭa dehācem nirśana | karūna pāhāvem
The sky without wind — likewise para-brahma, dense. / The destruction of the eight-bodies — should be made and seen.
ब्रह्मांडपिंडौभार । पिंडब्रह्मांडसंव्हार ।
दोहिवेगळें सारासार । विमळब्रह्म
brahmāmḍapimḍaubhāra | pimḍabrahmāmḍasamvhāra |
dohivegaḷem sārāsāra | vimaḷabrahma
Brahmāṇḍa-piṇḍa-formation; piṇḍa-brahmāṇḍa-destruction; / apart from both, sāra-asāra — vimala Brahma.
पदार्थ जड आत्मा चंचळ । विमळब्रह्म तें निश्चळ ।
विवरोन विरे तत्काळ । तद्रूप होये
padārtha jaḍa ātmā camcaḷa | vimaḷabrahma tem niścaḷa |
vivarona vire tatkāḷa | tadrūpa hoye
Objects are inert; Ātman is cañcala; vimala Brahma is niścala. / Examining, it dissolves at once — becomes tad-rūpa.
पदार्थ मनें काया वाचा । मी हा अवघाचि देवाचा ।
जड आत्मनिवेदनाचा । विचार ऐसा
padārtha manem kāyā vācā | mī hā avaghāci devācā |
jaḍa ātmanivedanācā | vicāra aisā
Objects, mind, body, speech — 'I, this all — belongs to Deva.' / The inert ātma-nivedana — such is the consideration.
चंचळकर्ता तो जगदीश । प्राणीमात्र तो त्याचा अंश ।
त्याचा तोचि आपणास । ठाव नाहीं
camcaḷakartā to jagadīśa | prāṇīmātra to tyācā amśa |
tyācā toci āpaṇāsa | ṭhāva nāhīm
The cañcala-doer is jagadīśa; every creature is his amśa (portion). / His is his — himself — has no place.
चंचळ आत्मनिवेदन । याचें सांगितलें लक्षण ।
कर्ता देव तो आपण । कोठेंचि नाहीं
camcaḷa ātmanivedana | yācem sāmgitalem lakṣaṇa |
kartā deva to āpaṇa | koṭhemci nāhīm
Cañcala-ātma-nivedana — its mark is told. / The doer is Deva; oneself — nowhere.
चंचळ चळे स्वप्नाकार । निश्चळ देव तो निराकार ।
आत्मनिवेदनाचा प्रकार । जाणिजे ऐसा
camcaḷa caḷe svapnākāra | niścaḷa deva to nirākāra |
ātmanivedanācā prakāra | jāṇije aisā
Cañcala moves as dream-form; the niścala Deva is nirākāra. / The kind of ātma-nivedana — known thus.
ठावचि नाईं चंचळाचा । तेथें आधीं आपण कैंचा ।
निश्चळ आत्मनिवेदनाचा । विवेक ऐसा
ṭhāvaci nāīm camcaḷācā | tethem ādhīm āpaṇa kaimcā |
niścaḷa ātmanivedanācā | viveka aisā
Cañcala has no place; there, whence is 'I' first? / The vivek of niścala-ātma-nivedana — is such.
तिहिं प्रकारें आपण । नाहीं नाहीं दुजेपण ।
आपण नस्तां मीपण । नाहींच कोठें
tihim prakārem āpaṇa | nāhīm nāhīm dujepaṇa |
āpaṇa nastām mīpaṇa | nāhīmca koṭhem
By these three kinds — one is not, not dual. / Without oneself, I-ness — is nowhere.
पाहातां पाहातां अनुमानलें । कळतां कळतां कळों आलें ।
पाहातां अवघेंचि निवांत जालें । बोलणें आतां
pāhātām pāhātām anumānalem | kaḷatām kaḷatām kaḷom ālem |
pāhātām avaghemci nivāmta jālem | bolaṇem ātām
On seeing, seeing, it was inferred; on knowing, knowing, it came to be known. / On looking, all became quiet — now — speech.
