पृथ्वीमधें मानवी शरीरें । उदंड दाटलीं लाहान थोरें ।
पालटती मनोविकारें । क्षणाक्षणा
pṛthvīmadhem mānavī śarīrem | udamḍa dāṭalīm lāhāna thorem |
pālaṭatī manovikārem | kṣaṇākṣaṇā
On earth, human bodies — packed small and great; / they change by mental vikāras — moment to moment.
जितुक्या मूर्ती तितुक्याच प्रकृती । सारिख्या नस्ती आदिअंतीं ॥
नेमचि नाहीं पाहावें किती । काये म्हणोनी
jitukyā mūrtī titukyāca prakṛtī | sārikhyā nastī ādiamtīm ||
nemaci nāhīm pāhāvem kitī | kāye mhaṇonī
As many mūrtis, so many prakṛtis; not alike from beginning-to-end; / no rule, see how many — for what purpose?
कित्येक म्लेंच होऊन गेले । कित्येक फिरंगणांत आटले ।
देशभाषानें रुधिले । कीतीयेक
kityeka mlemca hoūna gele | kityeka phiramgaṇāmta āṭale |
deśabhāṣānem rudhile | kītīyeka
Several went off becoming mleccha; several were erased in Firangastāna (Portuguese); / were held back by country-language — many.
मऱ्हाष्टदेश थोडा उरला । राजकारनें लोक रुधिला ।
अवकाश नाहीं जेवायाला । उदंड कामें
maṟhāṣṭadeśa thoḍā uralā | rājakāranem loka rudhilā |
avakāśa nāhīm jevāyālā | udamḍa kāmem
Mahārāṣṭra-deśa is a little left; people held by political-affairs. / No time to eat — abundant work.
कित्येक युद्धप्रसंगी गुंतले । तेणें गुणें उन्मत्त जाले ।
रात्रंदिवस करूं लागले । युद्धचर्चा
kityeka yuddhaprasamgī gumtale | teṇem guṇem unmatta jāle |
rātramdivasa karūm lāgale | yuddhacarcā
Several are caught in war-occasions; by that, became intoxicated. / Night-and-day they began discussing — war.
उदिम्यास व्यासंग लागला । अवकाश नाहींसा जाला ।
अवघा पोटधंदाच लागला । निरंतर
udimyāsa vyāsamga lāgalā | avakāśa nāhīmsā jālā |
avaghā poṭadhamdāca lāgalā | niramtara
The trader's absorption is in business; time has become non-existent. / All belly-business stuck — continuously.
शडदर्शनें नाना मतें । पाषांडें वाढली बहुतें ।
पृथिवीमधें जेथ तेथें । उपदेसिती
śaḍadarśanem nānā matem | pāṣāmḍem vāḍhalī bahutem |
pṛthivīmadhem jetha tethem | upadesitī
Six darśanas, various doctrines; heresies grew abundant; / on earth, wherever — they preach.
स्मार्थीं आणि वैष्णवी । उरलीं सुरलीं नेलीं आघवी ।
ऐसी पाहातां गथागोवी । उदंड जाली
smārthīm āṇi vaiṣṇavī | uralīm suralīm nelīm āghavī |
aisī pāhātām gathāgovī | udamḍa jālī
Smārtha and Vaiṣṇava — all the remainder was taken. / Thus considered, the tangle — has grown abundant.
कित्येक कामनेचे भक्त । ठाइं ठाइं जालें आसक्त ।
युक्त अथवा अयुक्त । पाहातो कोण
kityeka kāmanece bhakta | ṭhāim ṭhāim jālem āsakta |
yukta athavā ayukta | pāhāto koṇa
Several kāmanā-bhaktas (desire-devotees) — attached here-and-there; / fit or unfit — who looks?
या गल्बल्यामधें गल्बला । कोणीं कोणीं वाढविला ।
त्यास देखों सकेनासा जाला । वैदिक लोक
yā galbalyāmadhem galbalā | koṇīm koṇīm vāḍhavilā |
tyāsa dekhom sakenāsā jālā | vaidika loka
In this commotion, commotion — grew and grew. / Vedic people — became unable to see [their way].
त्याहिमधें हरिकीर्तन । तेथें वोढले कित्येक जन ।
प्रत्ययाचें ब्रह्मज्ञान । कोण पाहे
tyāhimadhem harikīrtana | tethem voḍhale kityeka jana |
pratyayācem brahmajñāna | koṇa pāhe
Within this, hari-kīrtana — there several people flow; / brahma-jñāna of pratyaya — who sees?
या कारणें ज्ञान दुल्लभ । पुण्यें घडे अलभ्य लाभ ।
विचारवंतां सुल्लभ । सकळ कांहीं
yā kāraṇem jñāna dullabha | puṇyem ghaḍe alabhya lābha |
vicāravamtām sullabha | sakaḷa kāmhīm
For this reason, jñāna is rare; by puṇya an unobtainable gain is had; / for the vicāravants, easy — everything.
विचार कळला सांगतां नये । उदंड येती अंतराये ।
उपाय योजितां अपाये । आडवे येती
vicāra kaḷalā sāmgatām naye | udamḍa yetī amtarāye |
upāya yojitām apāye | āḍave yetī
Considered, it cannot be told; many obstructions come; / plans fail — harms come in the way.
त्याहिमधें तो तिक्षण । रिकामा जाऊं नेदी क्षण ।
धूर्त तार्किक विचक्षण । सकळां माने
tyāhimadhem to tikṣaṇa | rikāmā jāūm nedī kṣaṇa |
dhūrta tārkika vicakṣaṇa | sakaḷām māne
Within this, the sharp one — does not let a moment pass idle; / cunning, tārkika, insightful — accepted by all.
नाना जिनस उदंड पाठ । वदों लागला घडघडाट ।
अव्हाटचि केली वाट । सामर्थ्यबळें
nānā jinasa udamḍa pāṭha | vadom lāgalā ghaḍaghaḍāṭa |
avhāṭaci kelī vāṭa | sāmarthyabaḷem
Various kinds of recitations — began uttering rapidly; / made the bypass into a path — by power-strength.
प्रबोधशक्तीचीं अनंत द्वारें । जाणें सकळांची अंतरें ।
निरूपणें तदनंतरें । चटक लागे
prabodhaśaktīcīm anamta dvārem | jāṇem sakaḷāmcī amtarem |
nirūpaṇem tadanamtarem | caṭaka lāge
The doors of prabodha-śakti are endless; knows all interiors; / by nirūpaṇa thereafter — attachment forms.
मतें मतांतरें सगट । प्रत्यये बोलोन करी सपाट ।
दंडक सांडून नीट । वेधी जना
matem matāmtarem sagaṭa | pratyaye bolona karī sapāṭa |
damḍaka sāmḍūna nīṭa | vedhī janā
Doctrines-and-counter-doctrines all together; speaking by pratyaya makes them level; / abandoning rule, directly — he draws people.
नेमकें भेदकें वचनें । अखंड पाहे प्रसंगमानें ।
उदास वृत्तिच्या गुमानें । उठोन जातो
nemakem bhedakem vacanem | akhamḍa pāhe prasamgamānem |
udāsa vṛtticyā gumānem | uṭhona jāto
Rigorous, piercing words; always watching occasion-context; / with hint of detached-vṛtti — he gets up and goes.
प्रत्यये बोलोन उठोन गेला । चटक लागली लोकांला ।
नाना मार्ग सांडून त्याला । शरण येती
pratyaye bolona uṭhona gelā | caṭaka lāgalī lokāmlā |
nānā mārga sāmḍūna tyālā | śaraṇa yetī
Speaking by pratyaya, he rose and left; attachment has come to people; / abandoning various paths to him — they come for refuge.
परी तो कोठें आडळेना । कोणे स्थळीं सांपडेना ।
वेष पाहातां हीन दीना । सारिखा दिसे
parī to koṭhem āḍaḷenā | koṇe sthaḷīm sāmpaḍenā |
veṣa pāhātām hīna dīnā | sārikhā dise
But he is nowhere found; not located in any place; / appearance — of low, humble — seems like.
उदंड करी गुप्तरूपें । भिकार्यासारिखा स्वरूपें ।
तेथें येशकीर्तिप्रतापें । सीमा सांडिली
udamḍa karī guptarūpem | bhikāryāsārikhā svarūpem |
tethem yeśakīrtipratāpem | sīmā sāmḍilī
He does much in hidden-form; beggar-like in appearance; / there fame-kīrti-pratāpa — has exceeded limits.
ठाइं ठाइं भजन लावी । आपण तेथून चुकावी ।
मछरमतांची गोवी । लागोंच नेदी
ṭhāim ṭhāim bhajana lāvī | āpaṇa tethūna cukāvī |
macharamatāmcī govī | lāgomca nedī
At various places he establishes bhajana; he himself misses from there; / the entanglement of jealous-doctrines — he does not let stick.
खनाळामधें जाऊन राहे । तेथें कोणीच न पाहे ।
सर्वत्रांची चिंता वाहे । सर्वकाळ
khanāḷāmadhem jāūna rāhe | tethem koṇīca na pāhe |
sarvatrāmcī cimtā vāhe | sarvakāḷa
He goes and lives in a hidden corner; no one sees him there; / carries the worry of all — at all times.
अवघड स्थळीं कठीण लोक । तेथें राहणें नेमक ।
सृष्टीमधें सकळ लोक । धुंडीत येती
avaghaḍa sthaḷīm kaṭhīṇa loka | tethem rāhaṇem nemaka |
sṛṣṭīmadhem sakaḷa loka | dhumḍīta yetī
Difficult places, hard people — there to stay rigorously; / in the sṛṣṭi, all people — come searching.
तेथें कोणाचें चालेना । अनुमात्र अनुमानेना ।
कट्ट घालीन राजकारणा । लोक लावी
tethem koṇācem cālenā | anumātra anumānenā |
kaṭṭa ghālīna rājakāraṇā | loka lāvī
There no one's [power] works; not even a tiny thing is inferred; / he sets up strict rāja-kāraṇa — engages people.
लोकीं लोक वाढविले । तेणें अमर्याद जाले ।
भूमंडळीं सत्त चाले । गुप्तरूपें
lokīm loka vāḍhavile | teṇem amaryāda jāle |
bhūmamḍaḷīm satta cāle | guptarūpem
Among people, people were grown; by that they became unbounded; / on earth, power operates — in hidden-form.
ठाइं ठाइं उदंड ताबे । मनुष्यमात्र तितुकें झोंबे ।
चहुंकडे उदंड लांबे । परमार्थबुद्धी
ṭhāim ṭhāim udamḍa tābe | manuṣyamātra titukem jhombe |
cahumkaḍe udamḍa lāmbe | paramārthabuddhī
In various places, abundant masteries; every person thus grasps; / on all sides abundantly spreads — the paramārtha-buddhi.
उपासनेचा गजर । स्थळोस्थळूं थोर थोर ।
प्रत्ययानें प्राणीमात्र । सोडविले
upāsanecā gajara | sthaḷosthaḷūm thora thora |
pratyayānem prāṇīmātra | soḍavile
The reverberation of upāsanā — place-after-place, great-great; / by pratyaya, every creature — was released.
ऐसे कैवाडे उदंड जाणे । तेणें लोक होती शाहाणे ।
जेथें जेथें प्रत्यये बाणे । प्राणीमात्रासी
aise kaivāḍe udamḍa jāṇe | teṇem loka hotī śāhāṇe |
jethem jethem pratyaye bāṇe | prāṇīmātrāsī
Such tricks he knows abundantly; by that people become wise; / wherever pratyaya is impressed — in every creature.
ऐसी कीर्ति करून जावें । तरीच संसारास यावें ।
दास म्हणे हें स्वभावें । संकेतें बोलिलें
aisī kīrti karūna jāvem | tarīca samsārāsa yāvem |
dāsa mhaṇe hem svabhāvem | samketem bolilem
Making such fame, one should leave; only then should one come to samsāra. / Das says — such by svabhāva — has been spoken as hint.
