पृथ्वीपासून जालीं झाडें । झाडापासून होती लांकडें ।
लांकडें भस्मोन पुढें । पृथ्वीच होये
pṛthvīpāsūna jālīm jhāḍem | jhāḍāpāsūna hotī lāmkaḍem |
lāmkaḍem bhasmona puḍhem | pṛthvīca hoye
From earth came trees; from trees came wood; / wood burns and ahead — becomes earth.
पृथ्वीपासून वेल होती । नाना जिनस फापावती ।
वाळोन कुजोन मागुती । पृथ्वीच होये
pṛthvīpāsūna vela hotī | nānā jinasa phāpāvatī |
vāḷona kujona māgutī | pṛthvīca hoye
From earth came vines; various types spread; / dried, rotted, again — becomes earth.
नाना धान्यांचीं नाना अन्नें । मनुष्यें करिती भोजनें ।
नाना विष्ठा नाना वमनें । पृथ्वीच होये
nānā dhānyāmcīm nānā annem | manuṣyem karitī bhojanem |
nānā viṣṭhā nānā vamanem | pṛthvīca hoye
Various grains make various foods; humans make meals; / various excreta, various vomits — become earth.
नाना पक्षादिकीं भक्षिलें । तरी पुढें तैसेंचि जालें ।
वाळोन भस्म होऊन गेलें । पुन्हा पृथ्वी
nānā pakṣādikīm bhakṣilem | tarī puḍhem taisemci jālem |
vāḷona bhasma hoūna gelem | punhā pṛthvī
Various birds etc. eat — they too become likewise; / dried to ash gone — again earth.
मनुष्यें मरतांच ऐका । क्रिमि भस्म कां मृत्तिका ।
ऐशा काया पडती अनेका । पुढें पृथ्वी
manuṣyem maratāmca aikā | krimi bhasma kām mṛttikā |
aiśā kāyā paḍatī anekā | puḍhem pṛthvī
When humans die — hear — maggots, ash, or clay; / such bodies fall abundant — ahead earth.
नाना तृण पदार्थ कुजती । पुढें त्याची होये माती ।
नाना किडे मरोन जाती । पुढें पृथ्वी
nānā tṛṇa padārtha kujatī | puḍhem tyācī hoye mātī |
nānā kiḍe marona jātī | puḍhem pṛthvī
Various grasses, objects rot; then become clay; / various insects die — ahead earth.
पदर्थ दाटले अपार । किति सांगावा विस्तार ।
पृथ्वीवांचून थार । कोणास आहे
padartha dāṭale apāra | kiti sāmgāvā vistāra |
pṛthvīvāmcūna thāra | koṇāsa āhe
Objects packed endless; how much of the expanse to tell; / without earth, shelter — whom does it have?
झाड पाले आणि तृण । पशु भक्षितां होतें सेण ।
खात मूत भस्म मिळोन । पुन्हा पृथ्वी
jhāḍa pāle āṇi tṛṇa | paśu bhakṣitām hotem seṇa |
khāta mūta bhasma miḷona | punhā pṛthvī
Tree-leaves and grass — beasts eating become dung; / food-urine-ash joined — again earth.
उत्पत्तिस्थितिसंव्हारतें । तें तें पृथ्वीस मिळोन जातें ।
जितुकें होतें आणि जातें । पुन्हा पृथ्वी
utpattisthitisamvhāratem | tem tem pṛthvīsa miḷona jātem |
jitukem hotem āṇi jātem | punhā pṛthvī
Utpatti-sthiti-samhāra — all joins into earth. / Whatever comes and goes — again earth.
नाना बीजांचिया रासी । विरढोने लागती गगनासी ।
पुढें सेवटीं पृथ्वीसी । मिळोन जाती
nānā bījāmciyā rāsī | viraḍhone lāgatī gaganāsī |
puḍhem sevaṭīm pṛthvīsī | miḷona jātī
Heaps of various seeds — sprouted attach the sky; / ahead at the end, to earth — they join.
लोक नाना धातु पुरिती । बहुतां दिवसां होये माती ।
सुवर्णपाषाणाची गती । तैसीच आहे
loka nānā dhātu puritī | bahutām divasām hoye mātī |
suvarṇapāṣāṇācī gatī | taisīca āhe
People bury various metals; after many days they become clay; / the fate of gold-and-stone — is likewise.
मातीचें होते सुवर्ण । आणी मृत्तिकेचे होती पाषाण ।
माहा अग्निसंगें भस्मोन । पृथ्वीच होये
mātīcem hote suvarṇa | āṇī mṛttikece hotī pāṣāṇa |
māhā agnisamgem bhasmona | pṛthvīca hoye
Gold from clay; and from clay come stones; / by great fire burned — becomes earth.
सुवर्णाचें जर होतें । जर सेवटीं कुजोन जातें ।
रस होऊन वितुळतें । पुन्हा पृथ्वी
suvarṇācem jara hotem | jara sevaṭīm kujona jātem |
rasa hoūna vituḷatem | punhā pṛthvī
Golden brocade — at the end rots; / becomes juice, dissolves — again earth.
पृथ्वीपासून धातु निपजती । अग्निसंगें रस होती ।
तया रसाची होये जगती । कठीणरूपें
pṛthvīpāsūna dhātu nipajatī | agnisamgem rasa hotī |
tayā rasācī hoye jagatī | kaṭhīṇarūpem
From earth metals are derived; by fire-association become juice; / from that juice, earth — in hard form.
नाना जळासी गंधी सुटे । तेथें पृथ्वीचें रूप प्रगटे ।
देवसेंदिवस जळ आटे । पुढें पृथ्वी
nānā jaḷāsī gamdhī suṭe | tethem pṛthvīcem rūpa pragaṭe |
devasemdivasa jaḷa āṭe | puḍhem pṛthvī
In various waters fragrances rise; there the earth-form appears; / day-by-day water dries up — ahead earth.
पत्रें पुष्पें फळें येती । नाना जीव खाऊन जाती ।
ते जीव मरतां जगती । नेमस्त होये
patrem puṣpem phaḷem yetī | nānā jīva khāūna jātī |
te jīva maratām jagatī | nemasta hoye
Leaves, flowers, fruits come; various jīvas eat; / those jīvas dying, earth — rigorously becomes.
जितुका कांहीं जाला आकार । तितुक्यास पृथ्वीचा आधार ।
होती जाती प्राणीमात्र । सेवट पृथ्वी
jitukā kāmhīm jālā ākāra | titukyāsa pṛthvīcā ādhāra |
hotī jātī prāṇīmātra | sevaṭa pṛthvī
Whatever form has arisen — all support is of earth. / Creatures come and go — end is earth.
हें किती म्हणौन सांगावें । विवेकें अवघेचि जाणावें ।
खांजणीभाजणीचें समजावें । मूळ तैसे
hem kitī mhaṇauna sāmgāvem | vivekem avagheci jāṇāvem |
khāmjaṇībhājaṇīcem samajāvem | mūḷa taise
How much to tell? By vivek, know all. / Understand the mixing-melting — such is the root.
आप आळोन पृथ्वी जालू । पुन्हां आपींच विराली ।
अग्नियोगें भस्म जाली । म्हणोनियां
āpa āḷona pṛthvī jālū | punhām āpīmca virālī |
agniyogem bhasma jālī | mhaṇoniyām
Water congealing, earth formed; again in water it merged; / by fire-yoga became ash — hence.
आप जालें तेजापासुनी । पुढें तेजें घेतलें सोखुनी ।
तें तेज जालें वायोचेनी । पुढें वायो झडपी
āpa jālem tejāpāsunī | puḍhem tejem ghetalem sokhunī |
tem teja jālem vāyocenī | puḍhem vāyo jhaḍapī
Water came from fire; ahead fire absorbed it; / that fire came from wind; ahead wind snatches.
वायो गगनीं निर्माण जाला । पुढें गगनींच विराला ।
ऐसें खांजणीभाजणीला । बरें पाहा
vāyo gaganīm nirmāṇa jālā | puḍhem gaganīmca virālā |
aisem khāmjaṇībhājaṇīlā | barem pāhā
Wind was created from sky; ahead in the sky dissolves; / such is the mixing-melting — see well.
जें जें जेथें निर्माण होतें । तें तें तेथें लया जातें ।
येणें रितीं पंचभूतें । नाश पावती
jem jem jethem nirmāṇa hotem | tem tem tethem layā jātem |
yeṇem ritīm pamcabhūtem | nāśa pāvatī
Whatever arises wherever — merges there; / by this manner, pañca-bhūtas — attain destruction.
भूत म्हणिजे निर्माण जालें । पुन्हां मागुतें निमालें ।
पुढें शाश्वत उरलें । परब्रह्म तें
bhūta mhaṇije nirmāṇa jālem | punhām māgutem nimālem |
puḍhem śāśvata uralem | parabrahma tem
Bhūta means 'arose'; again perished; / ahead the eternal remained — that para-brahma.
तें परब्रह्म जों कळेना । तो जन्ममृत्यु चुकेना ।
चत्वार खाणी जीव ना । होणें घडे
tem parabrahma jom kaḷenā | to janmamṛtyu cukenā |
catvāra khāṇī jīva nā | hoṇem ghaḍe
As long as that para-brahma is not known, birth-death does not escape; / the four wombs — the jīva must go.
जडाचें मूळ तें चंचळ । चंचळाचें मूळ तें निश्चळ ।
निश्चळासी नाहीं मूळ । बरें पाहा
jaḍācem mūḷa tem camcaḷa | camcaḷācem mūḷa tem niścaḷa |
niścaḷāsī nāhīm mūḷa | barem pāhā
The root of inert is cañcala; the root of cañcala is niścala. / The niścala has no root — see well.
पूर्वपक्ष म्हणिजे जालें । सिद्धांत म्हणिजे निमालें ।
पक्षातीत जें संचलें । परब्रह्म तें
pūrvapakṣa mhaṇije jālem | siddhāmta mhaṇije nimālem |
pakṣātīta jem samcalem | parabrahma tem
Pūrva-pakṣa means 'arose'; siddhānta means 'perished'; / what pervades beyond sides — is para-brahma.
हें प्रचितीनें जाणावें । विचारें खुणेंसी बाणावें ।
विचारेंविण सिणावें । तेंचि मूर्खपणें
hem pracitīnem jāṇāvem | vicārem khuṇemsī bāṇāvem |
vicāremviṇa siṇāvem | temci mūrkhapaṇem
This should be known by pratīti; should be impressed on the mark by vicāra. / Wearying without vicāra — itself is foolishness.
ज्ञानी भिडेने दडपला । निश्चळ परब्रह्म कैंचें त्याला ।
उगाच करितो गल्बला । मायेंमधें
jñānī bhiḍene daḍapalā | niścaḷa parabrahma kaimcem tyālā |
ugāca karito galbalā | māyemmadhem
A jñānī suppressed by pressure — whence niścala para-brahma to him? / Uselessly makes commotion — in māyā.
माया निशेष नासली । पुढें स्थिति कैसी उरली ।
विचक्षणें विवरिली । पाहिजे स्वयें
māyā niśeṣa nāsalī | puḍhem sthiti kaisī uralī |
vicakṣaṇem vivarilī | pāhije svayem
Māyā perished without remainder; what state ahead remains? / By the insightful should be examined — oneself.
निशेष मायेचें निर्शन । होतां आत्मनिवेदन ।
वाच्यांश नाहीं विज्ञान । कैसें जाणावें
niśeṣa māyecem nirśana | hotām ātmanivedana |
vācyāmśa nāhīm vijñāna | kaisem jāṇāvem
By complete destruction of māyā — ātma-nivedana occurs; / vācyāmśa is not; vijñāna — how to know?
लोकांचे बोलीं जो लागला । तो अनुमानेंच बुडाला ।
याकारणें प्रत्ययाला । पाहिलेंच पाहावें
lokāmce bolīm jo lāgalā | to anumānemca buḍālā |
yākāraṇem pratyayālā | pāhilemca pāhāvem
He who engaged with people's words — drowned in inference; / for this reason, pratyaya — should be seen-and-seen.
