चौंखाणीचे प्राणी असती । अवघे उदकेंचि वाढती ।
ऐसे होतीआणी जाती । असंख्यात
caumkhāṇīce prāṇī asatī | avaghe udakemci vāḍhatī |
aise hotīāṇī jātī | asamkhyāta
The creatures of four wombs — all grow by water; / such come and go — innumerable.
तत्वांचें शरीर जालें । अंतरात्म्यासगट वळलें ।
त्यांचें मूळ जों शोधिलें । तों उदकरूप
tatvāmcem śarīra jālem | amtarātmyāsagaṭa vaḷalem |
tyāmcem mūḷa jom śodhilem | tom udakarūpa
Body of tattvas was made; with Antarātmā it unites; / searching their root — it is water-form.
शरत्काळींचीं शरीरें । पीळपीळों झिरपती नीरें ।
उभये रेतें येकत्रें । मिसळती रक्तीं
śaratkāḷīmcīm śarīrem | pīḷapīḷom jhirapatī nīrem |
ubhaye retem yekatrem | misaḷatī raktīm
Autumn-bodies — twisting-twisting leak water; / both sexes' semen together — mix in blood.
अन्नरस देहरस । रक्तरेतें बांधे मूस ।
रसद्वयें सावकास । वाढों लागे
annarasa deharasa | raktaretem bāmdhe mūsa |
rasadvayem sāvakāsa | vāḍhom lāge
Food-juice, body-juice; blood-semen forms the crucible; / with two juices slowly — [it] begins to grow.
वाढतां वाढतां वाढलें । कोमळाचें कठीण जालें।
पुढें उदक पैसावलें । नाना अवेवीं
vāḍhatām vāḍhatām vāḍhalem | komaḷācem kaṭhīṇa jālem |
puḍhem udaka paisāvalem | nānā avevīm
Growing-and-growing grew; the tender became hard. / Ahead water spread — in various limbs.
संपूर्ण होतां बाहेरी पडे । भूमीस पडतां मग तें रडे ।
अवघ्याचें अवघेंच घडे । ऐसें आहे
sampūrṇa hotām bāherī paḍe | bhūmīsa paḍatām maga tem raḍe |
avaghyācem avaghemca ghaḍe | aisem āhe
Becoming full, it falls outside; on falling on earth, then cries. / Everything of everyone happens thus — so it is.
कुडी वाढे कुबुद्धि वाढे । मूळापासून अवघें घडे ।
अवघेंचि मोडे आणि वाढे । देखतदेखतां
kuḍī vāḍhe kubuddhi vāḍhe | mūḷāpāsūna avaghem ghaḍe |
avaghemci moḍe āṇi vāḍhe | dekhatadekhatām
Body grows, bad-buddhi grows; from root all happens. / All breaks and grows — in plain sight.
पुढें अवघियांचें शरीर । दिवसेंदिवस जालें थोर ।
सुचों लागला विचार । कांहीं कांहीं
puḍhem avaghiyāmcem śarīra | divasemdivasa jālem thora |
sucom lāgalā vicāra | kāmhīm kāmhīm
Ahead, everyone's body — day by day became great; / consideration began to come — somewhat.
फळामधें बीज आलें । तेणें न्यायें तेथें जालें ।
ऐकतां देखतां उमजलें । सकळ कांहीं
phaḷāmadhem bīja ālem | teṇem nyāyem tethem jālem |
aikatām dekhatām umajalem | sakaḷa kāmhīm
In the fruit came the seed — by that logic it happened there; / on hearing-seeing, it was understood — everything.
बीजें उदकें अंकुरती । उदक नस्तां उडोन जाती ।
येके ठाईं उदक माती । होतां बरें
bījem udakem amkuratī | udaka nastām uḍona jātī |
yeke ṭhāīm udaka mātī | hotām barem
Seeds sprout from water; without water they fly off; / at one place water-and-clay — was well [combined].
दोहिंमधें असतां बीज । भिजोन अंकुर सहज ।
वाढतां वाढतां पुढें रीझ । उदंड आहे
dohimmadhem asatām bīja | bhijona amkura sahaja |
vāḍhatām vāḍhatām puḍhem rījha | udamḍa āhe
Within the two, seed existed; soaked, sprout spontaneously; / growing-growing, ahead there is — abundant.
इकडे मुळ्या धावा घेती । तिकडे अग्रें हेलावती ।
मुळें अग्र द्विधा होती । बीजापासून
ikaḍe muḷyā dhāvā ghetī | tikaḍe agrem helāvatī |
muḷem agra dvidhā hotī | bījāpāsūna
Roots run this way; tips wave that way; / roots-and-tips two-fold — from seed.
मुळ्या चालिल्या पाताळीं । अग्रें धावतीं अंतराळीं ।
नाना पत्रीं पुष्पीं फळीं । लगडलीं झाडें
muḷyā cālilyā pātāḷīm | agrem dhāvatīm amtarāḷīm |
nānā patrīm puṣpīm phaḷīm | lagaḍalīm jhāḍem
Roots go to pātāla; tips run to mid-sky; / various leaves-flowers-fruits — trees are laden.
फळावडिल सुमनें । सुमनांवडिल पानें ।
पानांवडिल अनुसंधानें । काष्ठें आघवीं
phaḷāvaḍila sumanem | sumanāmvaḍila pānem |
pānāmvaḍila anusamdhānem | kāṣṭhem āghavīm
Elder-than-fruit is flower; elder-than-flower is leaves; / elder-than-leaves by attention — all the wood.
काष्ठांवडिल मुळ्या बारिक। मुळ्यां वडिल तें उदक ।
उदक आळोन कौतुक । भूमंडळाचें
kāṣṭhāmvaḍila muḷyā bārika | muḷyām vaḍila tem udaka |
udaka āḷona kautuka | bhūmamḍaḷācem
Elder-than-wood, small roots; elder-than-roots, that is water; / water congealing wonder — of the earth-globe.
याची ऐसी आहे प्रचिती । तेव्हां सकळां वडिल जगती ।
जगतीवडिल मूर्ती। आपोनारायायेणाची
yācī aisī āhe pracitī | tevhām sakaḷām vaḍila jagatī |
jagatīvaḍila mūrtī | āponārāyāyeṇācī
Its pratīti is such: then elder-than-all is the earth; / elder-than-earth is the mūrti — of Āpo-Nārāyaṇa.
तयावडिल अग्निदेव । अग्निवडिल वायेदेव ।
वायेदेवावडिल स्वभाव । अंतरात्म्यांचा
tayāvaḍila agnideva | agnivaḍila vāyedeva |
vāyedevāvaḍila svabhāva | amtarātmyāmcā
Elder-than-that is Agni-deva; elder-than-Agni is Vāyu-deva; / elder-than-Vāyu is the svabhāva — of the Antarātmā.
सकळांवडिल अंतरात्मा। त्यासि नेणे तो दुरात्मा ।
दुरात्मा म्हणिजे दुरी आत्मा । अंतरला तया
sakaḷāmvaḍila amtarātmā | tyāsi neṇe to durātmā |
durātmā mhaṇije durī ātmā | amtaralā tayā
Elder-than-all is Antarātmā; who does not know him is dur-ātmā. / Dur-ātmā means 'far-Ātman' — he has missed.
जवळी असोन चुकलें। प्रत्ययास नाहीं सोकलें ।
उगेंचि आलें आणी गेलें । देवाचकरितां
javaḷī asona cukalem | pratyayāsa nāhīm sokalem |
ugemci ālem āṇī gelem | devācakaritām
Near, yet missed; not accustomed to pratyaya; / uselessly came and went — because of Deva.
म्हणौन सकळांवडिल देव । त्यासी होतां अनन्यभाव ।
मग हे प्रकृतीचा स्वभाव । पालटों लागे
mhaṇauna sakaḷāmvaḍila deva | tyāsī hotām ananyabhāva |
maga he prakṛtīcā svabhāva | pālaṭom lāge
Therefore elder-than-all is Deva; on becoming ananya-bhāva toward him — / then this svabhāva of prakṛti — begins to change.
करी आपुला व्यासंग। कदापि नव्हे ध्यानभंग ।
बोलणें चालणें वेंग । पडोंच नेदी
karī āpulā vyāsamga | kadāpi navhe dhyānabhamga |
bolaṇem cālaṇem vemga | paḍomca nedī
Do your own work-practice; never let dhyāna-break; / speaking-walking-crookedness — do not let fall.
जें वडिलीं निर्माण केलें । तें पाहिजे पाहिलें ।
काये काये वडिलीं केलें । कीती पाहावें
jem vaḍilīm nirmāṇa kelem | tem pāhije pāhilem |
kāye kāye vaḍilīm kelem | kītī pāhāvem
What the elders have made — must be seen; / what, what has the elder done — how much to see?
तो वडिल जेथें चेतला । तोचि भाग्यपुरुष जाल ।
अल्प चेतनें तयाला । अल्पभाग्य
to vaḍila jethem cetalā | toci bhāgyapuruṣa jāla |
alpa cetanem tayālā | alpabhāgya
Wherever the elder was kindled — he became a bhāgya-puruṣa; / with slight kindling — slight fortune.
तया नारायेणाला मनीं । अखंड आठवावें ध्यानीं ।
मग ते लक्ष्मी तयापासूनी । जाईल कोठें
tayā nārāyeṇālā manīm | akhamḍa āṭhavāvem dhyānīm |
maga te lakṣmī tayāpāsūnī | jāīla koṭhem
That Nārāyaṇa in mind — should always be remembered in dhyāna; / then that Lakṣmī from him — where will she go?
नारायेण असे विश्वीं । त्याची पूजा करीत जावी ।
याकारणें तोषवावी । कोणीतरी काया
nārāyeṇa ase viśvīm | tyācī pūjā karīta jāvī |
yākāraṇem toṣavāvī | koṇītarī kāyā
Nārāyaṇa is in the Viśva; his pūjā should continue to be done. / For this reason, please — some body.
उपासना शोधून पाहिली । तों ते विश्वपाळिती जाली ।
न कळे लीळा परीक्षिली । न वचे कोणा
upāsanā śodhūna pāhilī | tom te viśvapāḷitī jālī |
na kaḷe līḷā parīkṣilī | na vace koṇā
On examining upāsanā — she became viśva-pālinī (world-nurturer); / the līlā is not known; on examination — does not go to anyone.
देवाची लीळा देवेंविण । आणीक दुसरा पाहे कोण ।
पाहणें तितुकें आपण । देवचि असे
devācī līḷā devemviṇa | āṇīka dusarā pāhe koṇa |
pāhaṇem titukem āpaṇa | devaci ase
Who sees Deva's līlā besides Deva? / Whatever one sees is oneself — is Deva.
उपासना सकळां ठाईं । आत्माराम कोठें नाहीं ।
याकारणें ठाइं ठाइं । रामे आटोपिलें
upāsanā sakaḷām ṭhāīm | ātmārāma koṭhem nāhīm |
yākāraṇem ṭhāim ṭhāim | rāme āṭopilem
Upāsanā in every place; where is the Ātmā-Rāma not? / For this reason, here and there — Rāma has taken up.
ऐसी माझी उपासना । आणितां नये अनुमाना ।
नेऊन घाली निरंजना । पैलिकडे
aisī mājhī upāsanā | āṇitām naye anumānā |
neūna ghālī niramjanā | pailikaḍe
Such is my upāsanā — does not come to inference. / Takes-and-places one in nirañjana — beyond.
देवाकरितां कर्में चालती । देवाकरितां उपासक होती ।
देवाकरितां ज्ञानी असती । कितियेक
devākaritām karmem cālatī | devākaritām upāsaka hotī |
devākaritām jñānī asatī | kitiyeka
On account of Deva, karmas proceed; on account of Deva, upāsakas arise; / on account of Deva, jñānīs exist — several.
नाना शास्त्रें नाना मतें । देवचि बोलिला समस्तें ।
नेमकांनेमक वेस्तावेस्तें । कर्मानुसार
nānā śāstrem nānā matem | devaci bolilā samastem |
nemakāmnemaka vestāvestem | karmānusāra
Various śāstras, various doctrines — Deva himself spoke all; / rigorous-and-non-rigorous, arranged-and-unarranged — per karma.
देवास अवघें लागे करावें । त्यांत घेऊं ये तितुकें घ्यावें ।
अधिकारासारिखें चालावें । म्हणिजे बरें
devāsa avaghem lāge karāvem | tyāmta gheūm ye titukem ghyāvem |
adhikārāsārikhem cālāvem | mhaṇije barem
Deva has to do everything; take what can be taken; / walk according to adhikāra — that is good.
आवाहन विसर्जन । ऐसेंचि बोलिलें विधान ।
पूर्वपक्ष जाला येथून । सिद्धांत पुढें
āvāhana visarjana | aisemci bolilem vidhāna |
pūrvapakṣa jālā yethūna | siddhāmta puḍhem
Āvāhana, visarjana — thus the method is spoken. / Pūrva-pakṣa from here — siddhānta ahead.
वेदांत सिद्धांत धादांत । प्रचित प्रमाण नेमस्त ।
पंचिकर्ण सांडून हित । वाक्यार्थपाहावा
vedāmta siddhāmta dhādāmta | pracita pramāṇa nemasta |
pamcikarṇa sāmḍūna hita | vākyārthapāhāvā
Vedānta, siddhānta, dhadānta — pratīti is pramāṇa rigorously. / Leaving pañcīkaraṇa, hita — should be seen by vākya-artha.
