नाभीपासून उन्मेषवृत्ती । तेचि परा जाणिजे श्रोतीं ।
ध्वनिरूप पश्यंती । हृदईं वसे
nābhīpāsūna unmeṣavṛttī | teci parā jāṇije śrotīm |
dhvanirūpa paśyamtī | hṛdaīm vase
From navel, unmeṣa-vṛtti; that is Parā, know, listeners; / as dhvani-form Paśyantī dwells in heart.
कंठापासून नाद जाला । मध्यमा वाचा बोलिजे त्याला ।
उच्चर होतां अक्षराला । वैखरी बोलिजे
kamṭhāpāsūna nāda jālā | madhyamā vācā bolije tyālā |
uccara hotām akṣarālā | vaikharī bolije
From throat nāda arose; Madhyamā speech is called; / on pronunciation of letter — Vaikharī is spoken.
नाभिस्थानीं परा वाचा । तोचि ठाव अंतःकर्णाचा ।
अंतःकर्णपंचकाचा । निवाडा ऐसा
nābhisthānīm parā vācā | toci ṭhāva amtaḥkarṇācā |
amtaḥkarṇapamcakācā | nivāḍā aisā
In navel-station, Parā speech; that is the place of antaḥkaraṇa; / the decision of antaḥkaraṇa-pañcaka — is such.
निर्विकल्प जें स्फुरण । उगेंच असतां आठवण ।
तें जाणावें अंतःकर्ण । जाणतीकळा
nirvikalpa jem sphuraṇa | ugemca asatām āṭhavaṇa |
tem jāṇāvem amtaḥkarṇa | jāṇatīkaḷā
Nirvikalpa sphuraṇa; being idle, remembrance arises; / know that as antaḥkaraṇa — the knowing-art.
अंतःकर्ण आठवलें । पुढें होये नव्हेसें गमलें ।
करूं न करू ऐसें वाटलें । तेंचि मन
amtaḥkarṇa āṭhavalem | puḍhem hoye navhesem gamalem |
karūm na karū aisem vāṭalem | temci mana
Antaḥkaraṇa remembered; ahead 'should-happen-or-not' arose; / 'do or not-do' — so felt — that is manas.
संकल्प विकल्प तेंचि मन । जेणें करितां अनुमान ।
पुढें निश्चयो तो जाण । रूप बुद्धीचें
samkalpa vikalpa temci mana | jeṇem karitām anumāna |
puḍhem niścayo to jāṇa | rūpa buddhīcem
Samkalpa-vikalpa is manas; by which inference [is made]; / ahead certainty, know — is the form of buddhi.
करीनचि अथवा न करी । ऐसा निश्चयोचि करी ।
तेचि बुद्धि हे अंतरीं । विवेकें जाणावी
karīnaci athavā na karī | aisā niścayoci karī |
teci buddhi he amtarīm | vivekem jāṇāvī
'I'll do' or 'I won't' — such firm certainty makes; / that is buddhi within — should be known by vivek.
जे वस्तुचा निश्चये केला । पुढें तेचि चिंतूं लागला ।
तें चित्त बोलिल्या बोला । येथार्थ मानावें
je vastucā niścaye kelā | puḍhem teci cimtūm lāgalā |
tem citta bolilyā bolā | yethārtha mānāvem
What object was determined; then began to think of it; / that is citta — the words spoken — should be accepted truly.
पुढें कार्याचा अभिमान धरणें । हें कार्ये तों अगत्य करणें ।
ऐस्या कार्यास प्रवर्तणें । तोचि अहंकारु
puḍhem kāryācā abhimāna dharaṇem | hem kārye tom agatya karaṇem |
aisyā kāryāsa pravartaṇem | toci ahamkāru
Ahead, holding pride of work; 'this work must necessarily be done'; / engaging in such work — is ahamkāra.
ऐसें अंतःकर्णपंचक । पंच वृत्ती मिळोन येक ।
कार्येभागें प्रकारपंचक । वेगळाले
aisem amtaḥkarṇapamcaka | pamca vṛttī miḷona yeka |
kāryebhāgem prakārapamcaka | vegaḷāle
Thus is antaḥkaraṇa-pañcaka; five vṛttis joined into one; / by work-purpose fivefold — different.
जैक्षे पांचहि प्राण । कार्येभागें वेगळाले जाण ।
नाहीं तरी वायोचें लक्षण । येकचि असे
jaikṣe pāmcahi prāṇa | kāryebhāgem vegaḷāle jāṇa |
nāhīm tarī vāyocem lakṣaṇa | yekaci ase
As the five prāṇas — by work-purpose distinct, know; / otherwise vāyu's mark — is one.
सर्वांगीं व्यान नाभी समान । कंठी उदान गुदीं अपान ।
मुखीं नासिकीं प्राण । नेमस्त जाणावा
sarvāmgīm vyāna nābhī samāna | kamṭhī udāna gudīm apāna |
mukhīm nāsikīm prāṇa | nemasta jāṇāvā
In whole body vyāna, in navel samāna; in throat udāna, in anus apāna; / in mouth-nose prāṇa — should be known rigorously.
बोलिलें हें प्राणपंचक । आतां ज्ञानैंद्रियेंपंचक ।
श्रोत्र त्वचा चक्षु जिव्हा नासिक । ऐसीं हें ज्ञानेंद्रियें
bolilem hem prāṇapamcaka | ātām jñānaimdriyempamcaka |
śrotra tvacā cakṣu jivhā nāsika | aisīm hem jñānemdriyem
This prāṇa-pañcaka was spoken; now jñānendriya-pañcaka; / ears, skin, eye, tongue, nose — thus these jñānendriyas.
वाचा पाणी पाद शिस्न गुद । हे कर्मैंद्रियें प्रसिद्ध ।
शब्द स्परुष रूप रस गंध । ऐसें हें विषयपंचक
vācā pāṇī pāda śisna guda | he karmaimdriyem prasiddha |
śabda sparuṣa rūpa rasa gamdha | aisem hem viṣayapamcaka
Speech, hand, foot, genital, anus — these are famous karmendriyas; / sound, touch, form, taste, smell — thus the viṣaya-pañcaka.
अंतःकर्ण प्राणपंचक । ज्ञानेंद्रियें कर्मेंद्रिये पंचक ।
पांचवें विषयपंचक । ऐसीं हे पांच पंचकें
amtaḥkarṇa prāṇapamcaka | jñānemdriyem karmemdriye pamcaka |
pāmcavem viṣayapamcaka | aisīm he pāmca pamcakem
Antaḥkaraṇa-prāṇa-pañcaka; jñānendriya-karmendriya-pañcaka; / fifth is viṣaya-pañcaka — thus these five pañcakas.
ऐसें हे पंचविस गुण । मिळोन सूक्ष्म देह जाण ।
याच कर्दम बोलिला श्रवण । केलें पाहिजे
aisem he pamcavisa guṇa | miḷona sūkṣma deha jāṇa |
yāca kardama bolilā śravaṇa | kelem pāhije
Such 25 guṇas — joined constitute sūkṣma-deha, know; / this very 'mire' has been spoken — śravaṇa should be done.
अंतःकर्ण व्यान श्रवण वाचा । शब्द विषये आकाशाचा ।
पुढें विस्तार वायोचा । बोलिला असे
amtaḥkarṇa vyāna śravaṇa vācā | śabda viṣaye ākāśācā |
puḍhem vistāra vāyocā | bolilā ase
Antaḥkaraṇa, vyāna, śravaṇa, speech; śabda viṣaya of ākāśa; / ahead the expansion of vāyu — has been spoken.
मन समान त्वचा पाणी । स्पर्श रूप हा पवनीं ।
ऐसे हे अडाखे साधुनी । कोठा करावा
mana samāna tvacā pāṇī | sparśa rūpa hā pavanīm |
aise he aḍākhe sādhunī | koṭhā karāvā
Manas, samāna, skin, hand; sparśa, rūpa in vāyu (wind); / such configurations, attaining — the chest should be made.
बुद्धि उदान नयेन चरण । रूपविषयाचें दर्शन ।
संकेतें बोलिलें मन । घालून पाहिजे
buddhi udāna nayena caraṇa | rūpaviṣayācem darśana |
samketem bolilem mana | ghālūna pāhije
Buddhi, udāna, eye, foot; rūpa-viṣaya's darśana; / by signal, manas said — must be placed and seen.
चित्त अपान जिव्हा शिस्न । रसविषये आप जाण ।
पुढें ऐका सावधान । पृथ्वीचें रूप
citta apāna jivhā śisna | rasaviṣaye āpa jāṇa |
puḍhem aikā sāvadhāna | pṛthvīcem rūpa
Citta, apāna, tongue, genital; rasa-viṣaya āpa, know; / ahead alertly hear — the form of pṛthvī.
अहंकार प्राण घ्राण । गुद गंधविषये जाण ।
ऐसे केलें निरूपण । शास्त्रमतें
ahamkāra prāṇa ghrāṇa | guda gamdhaviṣaye jāṇa |
aise kelem nirūpaṇa | śāstramatem
Ahamkāra, prāṇa, nose; anus, gandha-viṣaya know; / thus the nirūpaṇa was done — per śāstric doctrine.
ऐसा हा सूक्ष्म देहे । पाहातां होईजे निसंदेहे ।
येथें मन घालून पाहे । त्यासीच हें उमजे
aisā hā sūkṣma dehe | pāhātām hoīje nisamdehe |
yethem mana ghālūna pāhe | tyāsīca hem umaje
Such is this sūkṣma-deha; on examining becomes doubt-free; / here the one who puts mind — to him this is understood.
ऐसें सूक्ष्म देहे बोलिलें । पुढें स्थूळ निरोपिलें ।
आकाश पंचगुणें वर्तलें । कैसें स्थुळीं
aisem sūkṣma dehe bolilem | puḍhem sthūḷa niropilem |
ākāśa pamcaguṇem vartalem | kaisem sthuḷīm
Thus sūkṣma-deha was spoken; ahead sthūla was expounded; / ākāśa becomes five-fold guṇa — how in sthūla?
काम क्रोध शोक मोहो भये । हा पंचविध आकाशाचा अन्वये ।
पुढें पंचविध वायो । निरोपिला
kāma krodha śoka moho bhaye | hā pamcavidha ākāśācā anvaye |
puḍhem pamcavidha vāyo | niropilā
Kāma, krodha, śoka, moha, bhaya — these are the five-fold anvaya of ākāśa; / ahead the five-fold vāyu — has been expounded.
चळण वळण प्रासारण । निरोध आणि आकोचन ।
हें पंचविध लक्षण । प्रभंजनाचें
caḷaṇa vaḷaṇa prāsāraṇa | nirodha āṇi ākocana |
hem pamcavidha lakṣaṇa | prabhamjanācem
Motion, bending, extension, restraint, and contraction; / this five-fold mark — is of prabhañjana (wind).
क्षुधा त्रुषा आलस्य निद्रा मैथुन । हे तेजाचे पंचविध गुण ।
आतां पुढें आपलक्षण । निरोपिलें पाहिजे
kṣudhā truṣā ālasya nidrā maithuna | he tejāce pamcavidha guṇa |
ātām puḍhem āpalakṣaṇa | niropilem pāhije
Hunger, thirst, laziness, sleep, sex — these are five-fold guṇas of tejas; / now ahead āpa-lakṣaṇa — must be expounded.
शुक्लीत श्रोणीत लाळ मूत्र स्वेद । हा पंचविध आपाचा भेद ।
पुढें पृथ्वी विशद । केली पाहिजे
śuklīta śroṇīta lāḷa mūtra sveda | hā pamcavidha āpācā bheda |
puḍhem pṛthvī viśada | kelī pāhije
White-fluid, red-fluid, saliva, urine, sweat — this is the five-fold bheda of āpa; / ahead pṛthvī clear — must be made.
अस्ति मांष त्वचा नाडी रोम । हे पृथ्वीचे पंचविध धर्म ।
ऐसे स्थूळ देहाचें वर्म । बोलिलें असे
asti māmṣa tvacā nāḍī roma | he pṛthvīce pamcavidha dharma |
aise sthūḷa dehācem varma | bolilem ase
Bone, flesh, skin, nāḍī, hair — these are the five-fold dharmas of pṛthvī; / thus the secret of sthūla-deha — has been spoken.
पृथ्वी आप तेज वायो आकाश । हे पांचाचे पंचविस ।
ऐसें मिळोन स्थूळ देहास । बोलिजेतें
pṛthvī āpa teja vāyo ākāśa | he pāmcāce pamcavisa |
aisem miḷona sthūḷa dehāsa | bolijetem
Pṛthvī, āpa, tejas, vāyu, ākāśa — these five's five-twenty-fives [= 25]; / joined thus, sthūla-deha — is spoken.
तिसरा देह कारण अज्ञान । चौथा माहांकारण ज्ञान ।
हे च्यारी देह निर्शितां विज्ञान । परब्रह्म तें
tisarā deha kāraṇa ajñāna | cauthā māhāmkāraṇa jñāna |
he cyārī deha nirśitām vijñāna | parabrahma tem
Third deha kāraṇa, ajñāna; fourth mahā-kāraṇa, jñāna; / these four bodies on destruction, vijñāna — that para-brahma.
विचारें चौदेहावेगळें केलें । मीपण तत्वासरिसें गेलें ।
अनन्य आत्मनिवेदन जालें । परब्रह्मीं
vicārem caudehāvegaḷem kelem | mīpaṇa tatvāsarisem gelem |
ananya ātmanivedana jālem | parabrahmīm
By vicāra made distinct from four bodies; I-ness went with the tattvas; / ananya ātma-nivedana occurred — in para-brahma.
विवेकें चुकला जन्म मृत्य । नरदेहीं साधिलें महत्कृत्य ।
भक्तियोगें कृत्यकृत्य । सार्थक जालें
vivekem cukalā janma mṛtya | naradehīm sādhilem mahatkṛtya |
bhaktiyogem kṛtyakṛtya | sārthaka jālem
By vivek evaded birth-death; in human-body accomplished mahat-kṛtya; / by bhakti-yoga kṛta-kṛtya — fulfillment occurred.
इति श्री पंचीकर्ण । केलेंचि करावें विवर्ण ।
लोहाचें जालें सुवर्ण । परिसाचेनयोगें
iti śrī pamcīkarṇa | kelemci karāvem vivarṇa |
lohācem jālem suvarṇa | parisācenayogem
Iti Śrī Pañcīkaraṇa; exposition done-and-redone; / iron became gold — by the touchstone's contact.
हाहि दृष्टांत घडेना । परिसाचेन परीस करवेना ।
शरण जातां साधुजना । साधुच होइजे
hāhi dṛṣṭāmta ghaḍenā | parisācena parīsa karavenā |
śaraṇa jātām sādhujanā | sādhuca hoije
Even this analogy does not fit; by touchstone, touchstone cannot be made; / on surrendering to sādhu-folk — one becomes sādhu itself.
