आवर्णोदकीं हटकेश्वर । त्यास घडे नमस्कार ।
महिमा अत्यंतचि थोर । तया पाताळलिंगाचा
āvarṇodakīm haṭakeśvara | tyāsa ghaḍe namaskāra |
mahimā atyamtaci thora | tayā pātāḷalimgācā
In āvarṇodaka Haṭakeśvara; to him namaskāra is made; / the mahimā is extremely great — of that pātāla-linga.
परंतु तेथें जाववेना । शरीरें दर्शन घडेना ।
विवेकें आणावें अनुमाना । तया ईश्वरासी
paramtu tethem jāvavenā | śarīrem darśana ghaḍenā |
vivekem āṇāvem anumānā | tayā īśvarāsī
But there cannot be gone; by body darśana is not had; / by vivek should be brought to inference — that Īśvara.
सातां समुद्रांचे वेडे । उदंड भूमि पैलिकडे ।
सेवटीं तुटले कडे । भूमंडळाचे
sātām samudrāmce veḍe | udamḍa bhūmi pailikaḍe |
sevaṭīm tuṭale kaḍe | bhūmamḍaḷāce
The circle of seven seas; abundant land beyond; / at end the cliffs are cut — of the earth-globe.
सात समुद्र वोलांडावे । तेथें जाणें कैसें फावे ।
म्हणोन विवेकी असावे । साधुजन
sāta samudra volāmḍāve | tethem jāṇem kaisem phāve |
mhaṇona vivekī asāve | sādhujana
Seven seas to cross; how does going there work? / Therefore the vivekī — should be the sādhu-folk.
जें आपणास नव्हे ठावें । तें जाणतयास पुसावें ।
मनोवेगें तनें फिरावें । हें तों घडेना
jem āpaṇāsa navhe ṭhāvem | tem jāṇatayāsa pusāvem |
manovegem tanem phirāvem | hem tom ghaḍenā
What is not known to oneself — should be asked of the knower; / to wander with body at mind-speed — does not happen.
जें चर्मदृष्टीस नव्हे ठावें । तें ज्ञानदृष्टीनें पाहावें ।
ब्रह्मांड विवरोन राहावें । समाधानें
jem carmadṛṣṭīsa navhe ṭhāvem | tem jñānadṛṣṭīnem pāhāvem |
brahmāmḍa vivarona rāhāvem | samādhānem
What is not known to skin-eye — should be seen with jñāna-eye; / should remain examining brahmāṇḍa — in samādhāna.
मध्यें आहे भूमीचें चडळ । म्हणौन आकाश आणि पाताळ ।
तें चडळ नस्तां अंतराळ । चहुंकडे
madhyem āhe bhūmīcem caḍaḷa | mhaṇauna ākāśa āṇi pātāḷa |
tem caḍaḷa nastām amtarāḷa | cahumkaḍe
In middle is the earth's restlessness; hence ākāśa and pātāla; / without that restlessness, the firmament — is on all sides.
तयास परब्रह्म म्हणावें । जें उपाधीवेगळें स्वभावें ।
जेथें दृश्यमायेच्या नांवें । सुन्याकार
tayāsa parabrahma mhaṇāvem | jem upādhīvegaḷem svabhāvem |
jethem dṛśyamāyecyā nāmvem | sunyākāra
That should be called para-brahma — which is apart from upādhi by svabhāva; / where in the name of dṛśya-māyā — is śūnyākāra.
दृष्टीचें देखणें दृश्य । मनाचें देखणें भास ।
मनातीत निराभास । विवेकें जाणावें
dṛṣṭīcem dekhaṇem dṛśya | manācem dekhaṇem bhāsa |
manātīta nirābhāsa | vivekem jāṇāvem
Eye's seeing is dṛśya; mind's seeing is bhāsa; / beyond mind is nirābhāsa — should be known by vivek.
दृश्य भास अवघा विघडे । विवेक तेथें पवाडे ।
भूमंडळीं ज्ञाते थोडे । सूक्ष्मदृष्टीचे
dṛśya bhāsa avaghā vighaḍe | viveka tethem pavāḍe |
bhūmamḍaḷīm jñāte thoḍe | sūkṣmadṛṣṭīce
Dṛśya-bhāsa all dissolves; vivek there expands; / on earth-globe, jñātās are few — of subtle vision.
वाच्यांश वाचेनें बोलावा । न बोलतां लक्ष्यांश जाणावा ।
निर्गुण अनुभवास आणावा । गुणाचेनयोगें
vācyāmśa vācenem bolāvā | na bolatām lakṣyāmśa jāṇāvā |
nirguṇa anubhavāsa āṇāvā | guṇācenayogem
Vācyāmśa should be spoken by speech; unspoken lakṣyāmśa should be known; / nirguṇa should be brought to anubhava — by guṇa-yoga.
नाना गुणास आहे नाश । निर्गुण तें अविनाश ।
ढोबळ्याहून विशेष । सूक्ष्म देखणें
nānā guṇāsa āhe nāśa | nirguṇa tem avināśa |
ḍhobaḷyāhūna viśeṣa | sūkṣma dekhaṇem
Various guṇas have destruction; nirguṇa is avināśa; / greater than the coarse, special — is the subtle seeing.
जें दृष्टीस न पडे ठावें । तें ऐकोन जाणावें ।
श्रवणमननें पडे ठावें । सकळ कांहीं
jem dṛṣṭīsa na paḍe ṭhāvem | tem aikona jāṇāvem |
śravaṇamananem paḍe ṭhāvem | sakaḷa kāmhīm
What is not seen by eye — should be known by hearing; / by śravaṇa-manana falls in place — everything.
अष्टधेचे जिनस नाना । उदंड पाहातां कळेना ।
अवघें सगट पिटावेना । कोणियेकें
aṣṭadhece jinasa nānā | udamḍa pāhātām kaḷenā |
avaghem sagaṭa piṭāvenā | koṇiyekem
Various kinds of aṣṭadhā; examining abundantly not known; / cannot flatten all together — anyone.
सगट सारिखी स्थिती जाली । तेथें परीक्षाच बुडाली ।
चविनटानें कालविलीं । नाना अन्नें
sagaṭa sārikhī sthitī jālī | tethem parīkṣāca buḍālī |
cavinaṭānem kālavilīm | nānā annem
When all becomes equal state — there examination itself drowns. / A taste-less one mixes — various foods.
टोणपा नव्हे गुणग्राहिक । मुर्खास कळेना विवेक ।
विवेक आणि अविवेक । येकचि म्हणती
ṭoṇapā navhe guṇagrāhika | murkhāsa kaḷenā viveka |
viveka āṇi aviveka | yekaci mhaṇatī
A ṭoṇapā (insensitive) is not a guṇa-grāhika; the fool does not know vivek; / vivek and aviveka — they call one.
उंच नीच कळेना ज्याला । तेथें अभासचि बुडाला ।
नाना अभ्यासें प्राणियाला । सुटिका कैंची
umca nīca kaḷenā jyālā | tethem abhāsaci buḍālā |
nānā abhyāsem prāṇiyālā | suṭikā kaimcī
To whom high-low is not known — there experience drowns; / to the creature by various practices — whence release?
वेड लागोन जालें वोंगळ । त्यास सारिखेंच वाटे सकळ ।
तें जाणावें बाश्कळ । विवेकी नव्हेती
veḍa lāgona jālem vomgaḷa | tyāsa sārikhemca vāṭe sakaḷa |
tem jāṇāvem bāśkaḷa | vivekī navhetī
Madness comes, becomes dirty; to him all seems equal; / know him as pointless — they are not vivekīs.
ज्यास अखंड होतो नाश । त्यासीच म्हणती अविनाश ।
बहुचकीच्या लोकांस । काये म्हणावें
jyāsa akhamḍa hoto nāśa | tyāsīca mhaṇatī avināśa |
bahucakīcyā lokāmsa | kāye mhaṇāvem
What is always being destroyed — they call 'avināśa'; / to the abundant-missed people — what to say?
ईश्वरें नाना भेद केले । भेदें सकळ सृष्टी चाले ।
आंधळे परीक्षवंत मिळाले । तेथें परीक्षा कैंची
īśvarem nānā bheda kele | bhedem sakaḷa sṛṣṭī cāle |
āmdhaḷe parīkṣavamta miḷāle | tethem parīkṣā kaimcī
Īśvara made various bhedas; by bheda all sṛṣṭi proceeds; / blind examiners gathered — whence examination?
जेथें परीक्षेचा अभाव । तो टोणपा समुदाव ।
गुणचि नाहीं गौरव । येईल कैंचें
jethem parīkṣecā abhāva | to ṭoṇapā samudāva |
guṇaci nāhīm gaurava | yeīla kaimcem
Where examination is absent — that is a ṭoṇapā-community; / there are no virtues — whence can honor come?
खरें खोटें येकचि जालें । विवेकानें काय केलें ।
असार सांडून सार घेतलें । साधुजनीं
kharem khoṭem yekaci jālem | vivekānem kāya kelem |
asāra sāmḍūna sāra ghetalem | sādhujanīm
True-false became one; what did vivek do? / Abandoning asāra, taking sāra — by sādhu-folk.
उत्तम वस्तूचि परीक्षा । कैसी घडे नतद्रक्षा ।
दीक्षाहीनापासीं दीक्षा । येईल कैंची
uttama vastūci parīkṣā | kaisī ghaḍe natadrakṣā |
dīkṣāhīnāpāsīm dīkṣā | yeīla kaimcī
Examination of excellent vastu — how does it happen to the stupid? / To the initiation-less, dīkṣā — whence will come?
आपलेन वोंगळपणें । दिशाकरून शौच्य नेणे ।
वेद शास्त्रें पुराणें । त्यास काये करिती
āpalena vomgaḷapaṇem | diśākarūna śaucya neṇe |
veda śāstrem purāṇem | tyāsa kāye karitī
By one's own filthy-ness — does not know to do corner-cleanliness; / Vedas, śāstras, Purāṇas — what do they do for him?
आधीं राखावा आचार । मग पाहावा विचार।
आचारविचारें पैलपार । पाविजेतो
ādhīm rākhāvā ācāra | maga pāhāvā vicāra |
ācāravicārem pailapāra | pāvijeto
First preserve ācāra; then see vicāra; / by ācāra-vicāra, the far-shore — is attained.
जे नेमकास न कळे । तें बश्कळास केवी कळे ।
डोळस ठकती आंधळे । कोण्या कामाचे
je nemakāsa na kaḷe | tem baśkaḷāsa kevī kaḷe |
ḍoḷasa ṭhakatī āmdhaḷe | koṇyā kāmāce
What is not known to the rigorous — how to the idle? / Eyed-ones are cheated by the blind — what use?
पापपुण्य स्वर्ग नर्क । अवघेंच मानिलें येक ।
विवेक आणी अविवेक । काये मानावें
pāpapuṇya svarga narka | avaghemca mānilem yeka |
viveka āṇī aviveka | kāye mānāvem
Pāpa-puṇya, svarga-narka — all accepted as one; / vivek and aviveka — what to accept?
अमृत विष येक म्हणती । परी विष घेतां प्राण जाती ।
कुकर्में होते फजिती । सत्कर्में कीर्ति वाढे
amṛta viṣa yeka mhaṇatī | parī viṣa ghetām prāṇa jātī |
kukarmem hote phajitī | satkarmem kīrti vāḍhe
Amṛta-viṣa called one; but on drinking poison, life goes; / by kukarma, shaming; by sukarma, fame grows.
इहलोक आणि परलोक । जेथें नाहीं साकल्प विवेक ।
तेथें अवघेच निरार्थक । सकळ कांहीं
ihaloka āṇi paraloka | jethem nāhīm sākalpa viveka |
tethem avagheca nirārthaka | sakaḷa kāmhīm
This-world and other-world; where there is no full vivek — / there all is meaningless — everything.
म्हणौन संतसंगेंचि जावें । सत्शास्त्रचि श्रवण करावें ।
उत्तम गुणास अभासावें । नाना प्रयेत्नें
mhaṇauna samtasamgemci jāvem | satśāstraci śravaṇa karāvem |
uttama guṇāsa abhāsāvem | nānā prayetnem
Therefore by sat-sanga alone should one go; sat-śāstra-śravaṇa alone should be done; / excellent virtues should be practiced — by various efforts.
