सृष्टीमधें बहू लोक । परिभ्रमणें कळे कौतुक ।
नाना प्रकारीचे विवेक । आडळों लागती
sṛṣṭīmadhem bahū loka | paribhramaṇem kaḷe kautuka |
nānā prakārīce viveka | āḍaḷom lāgatī
On earth much people; by wandering delight is known; / various kinds of vivek — begin to be encountered.
किती प्रपंची जन । अखंड वृत्ति उदासीन ।
सुखदुःखें समाधान । दंडळेना
kitī prapamcī jana | akhamḍa vṛtti udāsīna |
sukhaduḥkhem samādhāna | damḍaḷenā
How many worldly people, unbroken vṛtti udāsīna; / sukha-duḥkhas, samādhāna — is not shaken.
स्वभावेंचि नेमक बोलती । सहजचि नेमक चालती ।
अपूर्व बोलण्याची स्थिती । सकळांसी माने
svabhāvemci nemaka bolatī | sahajaci nemaka cālatī |
apūrva bolaṇyācī sthitī | sakaḷāmsī māne
By svabhāva speak rigorously; naturally walk rigorously; / the wondrous speech-state — is accepted by all.
सहजचि ताळज्ञान येतें । स्वभावेंचि रागज्ञान उमटतें ।
सहजचि कळत जातें । न्यायेनीतिलक्षण
sahajaci tāḷajñāna yetem | svabhāvemci rāgajñāna umaṭatem |
sahajaci kaḷata jātem | nyāyenītilakṣaṇa
Naturally tāḷa-jñāna comes; by svabhāva rāga-jñāna arises; / naturally known — nyāya-nīti-marks.
येखादा आडळे गाजी । सकळ लोक अखंड राजी ।
सदा सर्वदा आवडी ताजी । प्राणीमात्राची
yekhādā āḍaḷe gājī | sakaḷa loka akhamḍa rājī |
sadā sarvadā āvaḍī tājī | prāṇīmātrācī
Somewhere a warrior is found; all people unbroken pleased; / always fresh love — of every creature.
चुकोन उदंड आढळतें । भारी मनुष्य दृष्टीस पडतें ।
महंताचें लक्षणसें वाटतें । अकस्मात
cukona udamḍa āḍhaḷatem | bhārī manuṣya dṛṣṭīsa paḍatem |
mahamtācem lakṣaṇasem vāṭatem | akasmāta
Missing, abundant encounter; weighty person falls on sight; / mahant's mark-like seems — suddenly.
ऐसा आडळतां लोक । चमत्कारें गुणग्राहिक ।
क्रिया बोलणें नेमक । प्रत्ययाचें
aisā āḍaḷatām loka | camatkārem guṇagrāhika |
kriyā bolaṇem nemaka | pratyayācem
Such a person encountered; wonder-virtue-recipient; / action-speech rigorous — of pratyaya.
सकळ अवगुणामधें अवगुण । आपले अवगुण वाटती गुण ।
मोठें पाप करंटपण । चुकेना कीं
sakaḷa avaguṇāmadhem avaguṇa | āpale avaguṇa vāṭatī guṇa |
moṭhem pāpa karamṭapaṇa | cukenā kīm
Among all defects, the defect — one's own defects seem as virtues; / great pāpa, wretchedness — does not miss.
ढाळेंचि काम होतें सदा । जें जपल्यानें नव्हे सर्वदा ।
तेथें पीळपेंचाची आपदा । आडळेचिना
ḍhāḷemci kāma hotem sadā | jem japalyānem navhe sarvadā |
tethem pīḷapemcācī āpadā | āḍaḷecinā
Always effortlessly work is done; that by japa does not happen always; / there the calamity of entanglement — does not appear.
येकासी अभ्यासितां न ये । येकासी स्वभावेंचि ये ।
ऐसा भगवंताचा महिमा काये । कैसा कळेना
yekāsī abhyāsitām na ye | yekāsī svabhāvemci ye |
aisā bhagavamtācā mahimā kāye | kaisā kaḷenā
To one, practice does not come; to one, naturally comes; / such Bhagavant's mahimā — how is not known?
मोठीं राजकारणें चुकती । राजकारणा वढा लागती ।
नाना चुकीची फजिती । चहुंकडे
moṭhīm rājakāraṇem cukatī | rājakāraṇā vaḍhā lāgatī |
nānā cukīcī phajitī | cahumkaḍe
Great rāja-kāraṇas miss; rāja-kāraṇa gets entangled; / various kinds of shame from missing — on every side.
याकारणें चुकों नये । म्हणिजे उदंड उपाये ।
उपायाचा अपाये । चुकतां होये
yākāraṇem cukom naye | mhaṇije udamḍa upāye |
upāyācā apāye | cukatām hoye
Therefore do not miss; so abundant remedies; / remedy's harm — occurs on missing.
काये चुकलें तें कळेना । मनुष्याचें मनचि वळेना ।
खवळला अभिमान गळेना । दोहिंकडे
kāye cukalem tem kaḷenā | manuṣyācem manaci vaḷenā |
khavaḷalā abhimāna gaḷenā | dohimkaḍe
What has been missed is not known; a man's mind does not turn; / roused pride does not leak — on both sides.
आवघे फडचि नासती । लोकांचीं मनें भंगती ।
कोठें चुकते युक्ती । कांहीं कळेना
āvaghe phaḍaci nāsatī | lokāmcīm manem bhamgatī |
koṭhem cukate yuktī | kāmhīm kaḷenā
Whole fads are ruined; people's minds broken; / where the yukti is missed — is not known.
व्यापेंविण आटोप केला । तो अवघा घसरतचि गेला ।
अकलेचा बंद नाहीं घातला । दुरीदृष्टीनें
vyāpemviṇa āṭopa kelā | to avaghā ghasarataci gelā |
akalecā bamda nāhīm ghātalā | durīdṛṣṭīnem
Without enterprise, control was made; all slipped away; / no bond of intellect was placed — with far-sight.
येखादें मनुष्य तें सिळें । त्याचें करणेंचि बावळें
नाना विकल्पाचें जाळें । करून टाकी
yekhādem manuṣya tem siḷem | tyācem karaṇemci bāvaḷem
nānā vikalpācem jāḷem | karūna ṭākī
Some person is a dullard; his doing itself is stupid; / makes a net of vikalpas — lays aside.
तें आपणासी उकलेना । दुसर्यास कांहींच कळेना ।
नाचे विकल्पें कल्पना । ठाईं ठाईं
tem āpaṇāsī ukalenā | dusaryāsa kāmhīmca kaḷenā |
nāce vikalpem kalpanā | ṭhāīm ṭhāīm
That does not untangle to himself; another knows nothing at all; / dances vikalpa-kalpanā — at various places.
त्या गुप्त कल्पना कोणास कळाव्या । कोणें येऊन आटोपाव्या ।
ज्याच्या त्यानें कराव्या । बळकट बुद्धि
tyā gupta kalpanā koṇāsa kaḷāvyā | koṇem yeūna āṭopāvyā |
jyācyā tyānem karāvyā | baḷakaṭa buddhi
His hidden kalpanās — who can know? Who come and contain? / Each must do — with firm buddhi.
ज्यासी उपाधी आवरेना । तेणें उपाधी वाढवावीना ।
सावचित करूनियां मना । समाधानें असावें
jyāsī upādhī āvarenā | teṇem upādhī vāḍhavāvīnā |
sāvacita karūniyām manā | samādhānem asāvem
Whose upādhi is uncontainable — he should not grow upādhi; / making mind alert — should remain in samādhāna.
धांवधावों उपाधी वेष्टी । आपण कष्टी लोक हि कष्टी ।
हे कामा नये गोष्टी । कुसमुसेची
dhāmvadhāvom upādhī veṣṭī | āpaṇa kaṣṭī loka hi kaṣṭī |
he kāmā naye goṣṭī | kusamusecī
Running-running upādhi encircles; himself afflicted, people afflicted too; / these things are useless — of turmoil.
लोक बहुत कष्टी जाला । आपणहि अत्यंत त्रासला ।
वेर्थचि केला गल्बला । काअसयासी
loka bahuta kaṣṭī jālā | āpaṇahi atyamta trāsalā |
verthaci kelā galbalā | kāasayāsī
People became much afflicted; oneself too extremely pained; / uselessly made commotion — for what purpose?
असो उपाधीचें काम ऐसें । कांहीं बरें कांहीं काणोंसें ।
सकळ समजोन ऐसें । वर्ततां बरें
aso upādhīcem kāma aisem | kāmhīm barem kāmhīm kāṇomsem |
sakaḷa samajona aisem | vartatām barem
So let upādhi's work be — some good some sagging; / understanding all thus — it is good to conduct.
लोकांपासीं भावार्थ कैचा । आपण जगवावा तयांचा ।
सेवट उपंढर कोणाचा । पडोंचि नये
lokāmpāsīm bhāvārtha kaicā | āpaṇa jagavāvā tayāmcā |
sevaṭa upamḍhara koṇācā | paḍomci naye
With people, whence faith? Oneself must live with them; / at end, embarrassment for whom — should not fall.
अंतरात्म्याकडे सकळ लागे । निर्गुणीं हें कांहींच न लगे ।
नाना प्रकारीचे दगे । चंचळामधें
amtarātmyākaḍe sakaḷa lāge | nirguṇīm hem kāmhīmca na lage |
nānā prakārīce dage | camcaḷāmadhem
All attaches to Antarātmā; in nirguṇa nothing attaches; / various kinds of tricks — in cañcala.
शुद्ध विश्रांतीचें स्थळ । तें एक निर्मळ निश्चळ ।
तेथें विकारचि सकळ । निर्विकार होती
śuddha viśrāmtīcem sthaḷa | tem eka nirmaḷa niścaḷa |
tethem vikāraci sakaḷa | nirvikāra hotī
The place of pure rest — is that one, nirmala, niścala; / there all vikāras — become nirvikāra.
उद्वेग अवघे तुटोनि जाती । मनासी वाटे विश्रांती ।
ऐसी दुल्लभ परब्रह्मस्थिती । विवेकें सांभाळावी
udvega avaghe tuṭoni jātī | manāsī vāṭe viśrāmtī |
aisī dullabha parabrahmasthitī | vivekem sāmbhāḷāvī
All agitations snap-and-go; mind feels rest; / such rare para-brahma-sthiti — should be preserved by vivek.
आपणास उपाधी मुळींच नाहीं । रुणानुबंधें मिळाले सर्वहि ।
आल्यागेल्याची क्षिती नाहीं । ऐसें जालें पाहिजे
āpaṇāsa upādhī muḷīmca nāhīm | ruṇānubamdhem miḷāle sarvahi |
ālyāgelyācī kṣitī nāhīm | aisem jālem pāhije
Oneself has no upādhi at root; all have gathered by ṛṇa-anubandha; / the limit of comers-goers — should become so.
जो उपाधीस कंटाळला । तो निवांत होऊन बैसला ।
आटोपेना तो गल्बला । कासयासी
jo upādhīsa kamṭāḷalā | to nivāmta hoūna baisalā |
āṭopenā to galbalā | kāsayāsī
He who is tired of upādhi — sat at rest; / that cannot be stopped, that commotion — for what purpose?
कांहीं गल्बला कांहीं निवळ । ऐसा कंठीत जावा काळ ।
जेणेंकरितां विश्रांती वेळ । आपणासी फावे
kāmhīm galbalā kāmhīm nivaḷa | aisā kamṭhīta jāvā kāḷa |
jeṇemkaritām viśrāmtī veḷa | āpaṇāsī phāve
Some commotion, some rest; such should time be spent; / by which rest-time — is found for oneself.
उपाधी कांहीं राहात नाहीं । समाधानायेवढें थोर नाहीं ।
नरदेहे प्राप्त होत नाहीं । क्षणक्षणा
upādhī kāmhīm rāhāta nāhīm | samādhānāyevaḍhem thora nāhīm |
naradehe prāpta hota nāhīm | kṣaṇakṣaṇā
Upādhi does not remain; nothing greater than samādhāna; / nara-deha is not attained — moment-by-moment.
