जेथें अखंड नाना चाळणा । जेथें अखंड नाना धारणा ।
जेथें अखंड राजकारणा । मनासी आणिती
jethem akhamḍa nānā cāḷaṇā | jethem akhamḍa nānā dhāraṇā |
jethem akhamḍa rājakāraṇā | manāsī āṇitī
Where unbrokenly various siftings; where unbrokenly various dhāraṇās; / where unbrokenly rāja-kāraṇa — brought to mind.
सृष्टीमधें उत्तम गुण । तितुकें चाले निरूपण ।
निरूपणाविण क्षण । रिकामा नाहीं
sṛṣṭīmadhem uttama guṇa | titukem cāle nirūpaṇa |
nirūpaṇāviṇa kṣaṇa | rikāmā nāhīm
On earth, excellent virtues — as much, nirūpaṇa proceeds; / without nirūpaṇa, a moment — is not empty.
चर्चा आशंका प्रत्योत्तरें । कोण खोटें कोण खरें ।
नाना वगत्रुत्वें शास्त्राधारें । नाना चर्चा
carcā āśamkā pratyottarem | koṇa khoṭem koṇa kharem |
nānā vagatrutvem śāstrādhārem | nānā carcā
Discussions, doubts, counter-replies; who is false, who true; / various eloquences with śāstra-support — various discussions.
भक्तिमार्ग विशद कळे । उपासनामार्ग आकळे ।
ज्ञानविचार निवळे । अंतर्यामीं
bhaktimārga viśada kaḷe | upāsanāmārga ākaḷe |
jñānavicāra nivaḷe | amtaryāmīm
Bhakti-path becomes clear; upāsanā-path is grasped; / jñāna-consideration clears — within.
वैराग्याची बहु आवडी । उदास वृत्तीची गोडी ।
उदंड उपाधी तरी सोडी । लागोंच नेदी
vairāgyācī bahu āvaḍī | udāsa vṛttīcī goḍī |
udamḍa upādhī tarī soḍī | lāgomca nedī
Much love of vairāgya; sweetness of detached-vṛtti; / abundant upādhi, yet releases — does not let attach.
प्रबंदाचीं पाठांतरें । उत्तरासी संगीत उत्तरें ।
नेमक बोलतां अंतरें । निववी सकळांचीं
prabamdācīm pāṭhāmtarem | uttarāsī samgīta uttarem |
nemaka bolatām amtarem | nivavī sakaḷāmcīm
Recitations of prabandhas; rhythmic answers; / rigorously speaking, interiors — cools of all.
आवडी लागली बहु जना । तेथें कोणाचें कांहीं चालेना ।
दळवट पडिला अनुमाना । येईल कैसा
āvaḍī lāgalī bahu janā | tethem koṇācem kāmhīm cālenā |
daḷavaṭa paḍilā anumānā | yeīla kaisā
Love attaches to many people; there no one's [power] proceeds; / obstruction fell to inference — how will it come?
उपासना करूनियां पुढें । पुरवलें पाहिजे चहुंकडे ।
भूमंडळीं जिकडे तिकडे । जाणती तया
upāsanā karūniyām puḍhem | puravalem pāhije cahumkaḍe |
bhūmamḍaḷīm jikaḍe tikaḍe | jāṇatī tayā
Having done upāsanā ahead — fulfilment must be done on all sides; / on earth-globe wherever — they know him.
जाणती परी आडळेना । काये करितो तें कळेना ।
नाना देसीचे लोक नाना। येऊन जाती
jāṇatī parī āḍaḷenā | kāye karito tem kaḷenā |
nānā desīce loka nānā | yeūna jātī
They know but he is not found; what he does is not known; / various country-people various — come and go.
तितुक्यांचीं अंतरें धरावीं । विवेकें विचारें भरावीं ।
कडोविकडीचीं विवरावीं । अंतःकर्णें
titukyāmcīm amtarem dharāvīm | vivekem vicārem bharāvīm |
kaḍovikaḍīcīm vivarāvīm | amtaḥkarṇem
All of their interiors should be held; filled with vivek-consideration; / the up-and-down examined — by antaḥkaraṇa.
किती लोक तें कळेना । किती समुदाव आकळेना ।
सकळ लोक श्रवणमनना । मध्यें घाली
kitī loka tem kaḷenā | kitī samudāva ākaḷenā |
sakaḷa loka śravaṇamananā | madhyem ghālī
How many people — is not known; how great the community — not grasped; / all people into śravaṇa-manana — he places.
फड समजाविसी करणें । गद्यपद्य सांगणें ।
परांतरासी राखणें । सर्वकाळ
phaḍa samajāvisī karaṇem | gadyapadya sāmgaṇem |
parāmtarāsī rākhaṇem | sarvakāḷa
Make the forum work-done; tell gadya-padya; / preserve others' interiors — at all times.
ऐसा ज्याचा दंडक । अखंड पाहाणें विवेक ।
सावधापुढें अविवेक । येईल कैचा
aisā jyācā damḍaka | akhamḍa pāhāṇem viveka |
sāvadhāpuḍhem aviveka | yeīla kaicā
Such is whose rule — unbroken seeing of vivek; / before the alert, aviveka — whence will come?
जितुकें कांहीं आपणासी ठावें । तितुकें हळुहळु सिकवावें ।
शाहाणें करूनी सोडावे । बहुत जन
jitukem kāmhīm āpaṇāsī ṭhāvem | titukem haḷuhaḷu sikavāvem |
śāhāṇem karūnī soḍāve | bahuta jana
Whatever one knows — that should slowly be taught; / make them wise and release — abundant people.
परोपरीं सिकवणें । आडणुका सांगत जाणें ।
निवळ करुनी सोडणें । निस्पृहासी
paroparīm sikavaṇem | āḍaṇukā sāmgata jāṇem |
nivaḷa karunī soḍaṇem | nispṛhāsī
Teach in various ways; tell the entanglements; / clear-and-release — the niḥspṛhas.
होईल तें आपण करावें । न होतां जनाकरवीं करवावें ।
भगवद्भजन राहावें । हा धर्म नव्हे
hoīla tem āpaṇa karāvem | na hotām janākaravīm karavāvem |
bhagavadbhajana rāhāvem | hā dharma navhe
What can be done, oneself should do; what cannot, by people have it done; / 'Bhagavad-bhajana should remain' — this is not dharma [to neglect].
आपण करावें करवावें । आपण विवरावें विवरवावें ।
आपण धरावें धरवावें । भजनमार्गासी
āpaṇa karāvem karavāvem | āpaṇa vivarāvem vivaravāvem |
āpaṇa dharāvem dharavāvem | bhajanamārgāsī
Do and cause to be done; examine and cause to examine; / hold and cause to hold — on the bhajana-path.
जुन्या लोकांचा कंटाळा आला । तरी नूतन प्रांत पाहिजे धरिला ।
जितुकें होईल तितुक्याला । आळस करूं नये
junyā lokāmcā kamṭāḷā ālā | tarī nūtana prāmta pāhije dharilā |
jitukem hoīla titukyālā | āḷasa karūm naye
If tired of old people, then a new region — should be held; / whatever can be done, for that — do not be lazy.
देह्याचा अभ्यास बुडाला । म्हणिजे महंत बुडाला ।
लागवेगें नूतन लोकांला । शाहाणे करावें
dehyācā abhyāsa buḍālā | mhaṇije mahamta buḍālā |
lāgavegem nūtana lokāmlā | śāhāṇe karāvem
When the body's practice drowns — then the mahant drowns; / with urgency, the new people — should be made wise.
उपाधींत सांपडों नये । उपाधीस कंटाळों नये ।
निसुगपण कामा नये । कोणीयेकविषीं
upādhīmta sāmpaḍom naye | upādhīsa kamṭāḷom naye |
nisugapaṇa kāmā naye | koṇīyekaviṣīm
Do not be caught in upādhi; do not be tired of upādhi; / insensibility should not come — in any matter.
काम नासणार नासतें । आपण वेडें उगें च पाहातें ।
आळसी हृदयसुन्य तें । काये करूं जाणें
kāma nāsaṇāra nāsatem | āpaṇa veḍem ugem ca pāhātem |
āḷasī hṛdayasunya tem | kāye karūm jāṇem
The task-ruiner ruins; oneself mad watches idle; / lazy heart-empty — what does it know to do?
धकाधकीचा मामला । कैसा घडे अशक्ताला ।
नाना बुद्धि शक्ताला । म्हणोनी शिकवाव्या
dhakādhakīcā māmalā | kaisā ghaḍe aśaktālā |
nānā buddhi śaktālā | mhaṇonī śikavāvyā
Pushing-pushing affair; how does it happen to the weak? / Various buddhis to the strong — therefore should be taught.
व्याप होईल तों राहावें । व्याप राहातां उठोन जावें ।
आनंदरूप फिरावें । कोठें तऱ्ही
vyāpa hoīla tom rāhāvem | vyāpa rāhātām uṭhona jāvem |
ānamdarūpa phirāvem | koṭhem taṟhī
Where the enterprise is, stay; when the enterprise stops, rise and go; / wander as happiness — somewhere.
उपाधीपासून सुटला । तो निस्पृहपणें बळावला ।
जिकडे सानुकूळ तिकडे चालिला । सावकास
upādhīpāsūna suṭalā | to nispṛhapaṇem baḷāvalā |
jikaḍe sānukūḷa tikaḍe cālilā | sāvakāsa
He who is released from upādhi — grows by niḥspṛha-ness; / wherever favourable, goes there — leisurely.
कीर्ति पाहातं सुख नाहीं । सुख पाहातां कीर्ति नाहीं ।
केल्याविण कांहींच नाहीं । कोठें तऱ्ही
kīrti pāhātam sukha nāhīm | sukha pāhātām kīrti nāhīm |
kelyāviṇa kāmhīmca nāhīm | koṭhem taṟhī
Seeking kīrti, no sukha; seeking sukha, no kīrti; / without doing, nothing — anywhere.
येरवीं काय राहातें । होणार तितुकें होऊन जातें ।
प्राणी मात्र अशक्त तें । पुढें आहे
yeravīm kāya rāhātem | hoṇāra titukem hoūna jātem |
prāṇī mātra aśakta tem | puḍhem āhe
Otherwise what remains? Whatever is to happen, happens and goes; / every creature is weak — ahead.
अधींच तकवा सोडिला । मधेंचि धीवसा सांडिला ।
तरी संसार हा सेवटाला । कैसा पावे
adhīmca takavā soḍilā | madhemci dhīvasā sāmḍilā |
tarī samsāra hā sevaṭālā | kaisā pāve
First abandoning strength; in middle abandoning courage; / then samsāra to its end — how does it reach?
संसार मुळींच नासका । विवेकें करावा नेटका ।
नेटका करितां फिका । होत जातो
samsāra muḷīmca nāsakā | vivekem karāvā neṭakā |
neṭakā karitām phikā | hota jāto
Samsāra is at root defective; by vivek it should be made neat; / made neat, it becomes insipid — continues happening.
ऐसा याचा जिनसाना । पाहातां कळों येतें मना ।
परंतु धीर सांडावाना । कोणीयेकें
aisā yācā jinasānā | pāhātām kaḷom yetem manā |
paramtu dhīra sāmḍāvānā | koṇīyekem
Such is its inventory; on looking comes to mind; / but do not abandon patience — someone.
धीर सांडितां कये होतें । अवघें सोसावें लागतें ।
नाना बुद्धि नाना मतें । शाहाणा जाणे
dhīra sāmḍitām kaye hotem | avaghem sosāvem lāgatem |
nānā buddhi nānā matem | śāhāṇā jāṇe
Abandoning patience, what happens? All must be borne; / various buddhis, various doctrines — the wise know.
