मुळींहून सेवटवरी । विस्तार बोलिला नानापरी ।
पुन्हा विवरत विरत माघारी । वृत्ति न्यावी
muḷīmhūna sevaṭavarī | vistāra bolilā nānāparī |
punhā vivarata virata māghārī | vṛtti nyāvī
From root to end — the expansion was spoken in various ways; / again examining-dissolving, backward — the vṛtti should be taken.
च्यारी खाणी च्यारी वाणी । चौर्यासी लक्ष जीवयोनी ।
नाना प्रकारीचे प्राणी । जन्मास येती
cyārī khāṇī cyārī vāṇī | cauryāsī lakṣa jīvayonī |
nānā prakārīce prāṇī | janmāsa yetī
Four wombs, four speeches; 84-lakh jīva-yonis; / various kinds of creatures — come to birth.
अवघे होती पृथ्वीपासूनी । पृथ्वीमधें जाती नासोनी ।
अनेक येती जाती परी अवनी । तैसीच आहे
avaghe hotī pṛthvīpāsūnī | pṛthvīmadhem jātī nāsonī |
aneka yetī jātī parī avanī | taisīca āhe
All arise from earth; perish in earth; / many come and go, yet earth — is as-it-is.
ऐसें हें सेंड्याकडिल खांड । दुसरें भूतांचें बंड ।
तिसरें नामाभिधानें उदंड । सूक्ष्मरूपें
aisem hem semḍyākaḍila khāmḍa | dusarem bhūtāmcem bamḍa |
tisarem nāmābhidhānem udamḍa | sūkṣmarūpem
Such is the branch-tip; second is the revolt of bhūtas; / third, various name-designations — in subtle form.
स्थूळ अवघें सांडून द्यावें । सूक्ष्मरूपें वोळखावें ।
गुणापासून पाहिलेच पाहावें । सूक्ष्मदृष्टीं
sthūḷa avaghem sāmḍūna dyāvem | sūkṣmarūpem voḷakhāvem |
guṇāpāsūna pāhileca pāhāvem | sūkṣmadṛṣṭīm
Abandon all coarse; recognize in subtle-form; / from guṇas see-what-was-seen — with subtle-view.
गुणाचीं रूपें जाणिव नेणीव । पाहिलाच पाहावा अभिप्राव ।
सूक्ष्मदृष्टीचें लाघव । येथून पुढें
guṇācīm rūpem jāṇiva neṇīva | pāhilāca pāhāvā abhiprāva |
sūkṣmadṛṣṭīcem lāghava | yethūna puḍhem
Forms of guṇas are knowing-not-knowing; purport to see-what-was-seen; / the cleverness of subtle-view — from here ahead.
शुद्ध नेणीव तमोगुण । शुद्ध जाणीव सत्वगुण ।
जाणीवनेणीव रजोगुण । मिश्रित चालिला
śuddha neṇīva tamoguṇa | śuddha jāṇīva satvaguṇa |
jāṇīvaneṇīva rajoguṇa | miśrita cālilā
Pure not-knowing is tamo-guṇa; pure knowing is sattva-guṇa; / knowing-not-knowing mixed is rajo-guṇa — mixed proceeding.
त्रिगुणाचीं रूपें ऐसीं । कळों लागलीं अपैसीं ।
गुणापुढील कर्दमासी । गुणक्षोभिणी बोलिजे
triguṇācīm rūpem aisīm | kaḷom lāgalīm apaisīm |
guṇāpuḍhīla kardamāsī | guṇakṣobhiṇī bolije
Such are tri-guṇas' forms; begin to be known naturally; / to the mire ahead of guṇa — is called guṇa-kṣobhiṇī.
रज तम आणि सत्व । तिहींचें जेथें गूढत्व ।
तें जाणिजे महत्तत्त्व । कर्दमरूप
raja tama āṇi satva | tihīmcem jethem gūḍhatva |
tem jāṇije mahattattva | kardamarūpa
Rajas, tamas, and sattva; where the three are hidden; / that is known as mahat-tattva — mire-form.
प्रकृती पुरुष शिवशक्ति । अर्धनारीनटेश्वर म्हणती ।
परी याची स्वरूपस्थिती । कर्दमरूप
prakṛtī puruṣa śivaśakti | ardhanārīnaṭeśvara mhaṇatī |
parī yācī svarūpasthitī | kardamarūpa
Prakṛti-puruṣa, Śiva-śakti; Ardhanārī-Naṭeśvara they say; / but this own-form-state — is mire-form.
सूक्ष्मरूपें गुणसौम्य । त्यास बोलिजे गुणसाम्य ।
तैसेंचि चैतन्य अगम्य । सूक्ष्मरूपी
sūkṣmarūpem guṇasaumya | tyāsa bolije guṇasāmya |
taisemci caitanya agamya | sūkṣmarūpī
Subtle-form guṇa-softness — is called guṇa-sāmya; / likewise caitanya is unfathomable — in subtle-form.
बहुजिनसी मूळमाया । माहांकारण ब्रह्मांडीची काया ।
ऐसिया सूक्ष्म अन्वया । पाहिलेंचि पाहावें
bahujinasī mūḷamāyā | māhāmkāraṇa brahmāmḍīcī kāyā |
aisiyā sūkṣma anvayā | pāhilemci pāhāvem
Many-kinded mūla-māyā; mahā-kāraṇa body of brahmāṇḍa; / such subtle consistency — should be seen-again-and-again.
च्यारी खाणी पांच भूतें । चौदा सूक्ष्म संकेतें ।
काये पाहणें तें येथें । शोधून पाहावें
cyārī khāṇī pāmca bhūtem | caudā sūkṣma samketem |
kāye pāhaṇem tem yethem | śodhūna pāhāvem
Four wombs, five elements; fourteen subtle signals; / what is to be seen is here — should be searched and seen.
आहाच पाहातां कळेना । गरज केल्यां समजेना ।
नाना प्रकारीं जनाच्या मना । संदेह पडती
āhāca pāhātām kaḷenā | garaja kelyām samajenā |
nānā prakārīm janācyā manā | samdeha paḍatī
Casually looking, not known; by forcing, not understood; / various kinds of doubts — fall on people's minds.
चौदा पांच येकोणीस । येकोणीस च्यारी तेविस ।
यांमधें मूळ चतुर्दश । पाहिलेंचि पाहावें
caudā pāmca yekoṇīsa | yekoṇīsa cyārī tevisa |
yāmmadhem mūḷa caturdaśa | pāhilemci pāhāvem
Fourteen, five, nineteen; nineteen, four, twenty-three; / among these, the root, fourteen — should be seen-again-and-again.
जो विवरोन समजला । तेथें संदेह नाहीं उरला ।
समजल्याविण जो गल्बला । तो निरर्थक
jo vivarona samajalā | tethem samdeha nāhīm uralā |
samajalyāviṇa jo galbalā | to nirarthaka
He who examined-and-understood — there no doubt remained; / without understanding, commotion — is meaningless.
सकळ सृष्टीचें बीज । मूळमायेंत असे सहज ।
अवघें समजतां सज्ज । परमार्थ होतो
sakaḷa sṛṣṭīcem bīja | mūḷamāyemta ase sahaja |
avaghem samajatām sajja | paramārtha hoto
The seed of all sṛṣṭi — exists naturally in mūla-māyā; / on all being understood, ready — paramārtha occurs.
समजलें माणूस चावळेना । निश्चै अनुमान धरीना ।
सावळगोंदा करीना । परमार्थ कदा
samajalem māṇūsa cāvaḷenā | niścai anumāna dharīnā |
sāvaḷagomdā karīnā | paramārtha kadā
An understood person does not chatter; does not hold inference as certainty; / does not do the task haphazardly — never, in paramārtha.
शब्दातीत बोलतां आलें । त्यास वाच्यांश बोलिलें ।
शुद्ध लक्ष्यांश लक्षिलें । पाहिजे विवेकें
śabdātīta bolatām ālem | tyāsa vācyāmśa bolilem |
śuddha lakṣyāmśa lakṣilem | pāhije vivekem
Beyond-words that can be spoken — is called vācyāmśa; / pure lakṣyāmśa should be targeted — by vivek.
पूर्वपक्ष म्हणिजे माया । सिद्धांतें जाये विलया ।
माया नस्तां मग तया । काये म्हणावें
pūrvapakṣa mhaṇije māyā | siddhāmtem jāye vilayā |
māyā nastām maga tayā | kāye mhaṇāvem
Pūrva-pakṣa means māyā; by siddhānta goes to dissolution; / without māyā, what then — should be called?
अन्वये आणी वीतरेक । हा पूर्वपक्षाचा विवेक ।
सिद्धांत म्हणिजे शुद्ध येक । दुसरें नाहीं
anvaye āṇī vītareka | hā pūrvapakṣācā viveka |
siddhāmta mhaṇije śuddha yeka | dusarem nāhīm
Anvaya and vyatireka — this is the vivek of pūrva-pakṣa; / siddhānta means pure one — no second.
अधोमुखें भेद वाढतो । ऊर्धमुखें भेद तुटतो ।
निःसंगपणें निर्गुणी तो । माहांयोगी
adhomukhem bheda vāḍhato | ūrdhamukhem bheda tuṭato |
niḥsamgapaṇem nirguṇī to | māhāmyogī
Facing downward, bheda grows; facing upward, bheda snaps; / by niḥsanga-ness in nirguṇa — is the mahā-yogī.
माया मिथ्या ऐसी कळली । तरी मग भीड कां लागली ।
मायेचें भिडेनें घसरली । स्वरूपस्थिती
māyā mithyā aisī kaḷalī | tarī maga bhīḍa kām lāgalī |
māyecem bhiḍenem ghasaralī | svarūpasthitī
'Māyā is mithyā' came to know; then why did pressure attach? / By māyā's pressure, the svarūpa-state slipped.
लटके मायेनें दपटावें । सत्य परब्रह्म सांडावें ।
मुख्य निश्चयें हिंडावें । कासयासी
laṭake māyenem dapaṭāvem | satya parabrahma sāmḍāvem |
mukhya niścayem himḍāvem | kāsayāsī
Should be oppressed by the false māyā; truth para-brahma abandoned; / by chief certainty, for what — should one wander?
पृथ्वीमधें बहुत जन । त्यामधें असती सज्जन ।
परी साधूस वोळखतो कोण । साधुवेगळा
pṛthvīmadhem bahuta jana | tyāmadhem asatī sajjana |
parī sādhūsa voḷakhato koṇa | sādhuvegaḷā
On earth much people; among them are sajjanas; / but who recognizes a sādhu — apart from a sādhu?
म्हणौन संसार सांडावा । मग साधूचा शोध घ्यावा ।
फिरफिरों ठाइं पाडावा । साधुजन
mhaṇauna samsāra sāmḍāvā | maga sādhūcā śodha ghyāvā |
phiraphirom ṭhāim pāḍāvā | sādhujana
Therefore samsāra should be abandoned; then the search for sādhu should be made; / wandering-wandering, fall at the site — sādhu-folk.
उदंड हुडकावे संत । सांपडे प्रचितीचा महंत ।
प्रचितीविण स्वहित । होणार नाहीं
udamḍa huḍakāve samta | sāmpaḍe pracitīcā mahamta |
pracitīviṇa svahita | hoṇāra nāhīm
Abundant should be searched out; a mahant of pratīti is found; / without pratīti, self-hita — does not happen.
प्रपंच अथवा परमार्थ । प्रचितीविण अवघें वेर्थ ।
प्रत्ययेज्ञानी तो समर्थ । सकळांमध्यें
prapamca athavā paramārtha | pracitīviṇa avaghem vertha |
pratyayejñānī to samartha | sakaḷāmmadhyem
Prapañca or paramārtha; without pratīti, all vain; / a pratyaya-jñānī is samartha — among all.
रात्रंदिवस पाहावा अर्थ । अर्थ पाहेल तो समर्थ ।
परलोकींच निजस्वार्थ । तेथेंचि घडे
rātramdivasa pāhāvā artha | artha pāhela to samartha |
paralokīmca nijasvārtha | tethemci ghaḍe
Night-and-day should see meaning; he who sees meaning is samartha; / in the other-world his own-interest — occurs there.
म्हणौन पाहिलेंचि पाहावें । आणि शोधिलेंचि शोधावें ।
अवघें कळतां स्वभावें । संदेह तुटती
mhaṇauna pāhilemci pāhāvem | āṇi śodhilemci śodhāvem |
avaghem kaḷatām svabhāvem | samdeha tuṭatī
Therefore see-what-was-seen; search-what-was-searched; / on all being known naturally — doubts snap.
