sakaḷa janāsa prārthanā | ugemca udāsa karāvemnā | nirūpaṇa āṇāvem manā | pratyayācem
Request to all people; do not become dispassionate uselessly; / bring to mind the nirūpaṇa — of pratyaya.
Ramdas opens with a direct plea: don't slide into a hollow, uninvolved detachment; instead, actively bring the teaching about pratyaya — verified, direct experience — into your mind and keep it there.
Today, when you feel the pull to just check out or go numb about a difficulty, choose instead to bring focused, verified attention to it.
pratyaye rāhilā yekekaḍe | āpaṇa dhāmvato bhalatekaḍe | tarī sārāsārāce nivāḍe | kaise hotī
Pratyaya remained on one side; one runs to any side; / then the determinations of sāra-asāra — how do they happen?
If your capacity for direct verification (pratyaya) sits idle on the sidelines while you keep chasing off after whatever grabs you, how can you ever make sound judgments about what is essential versus what is not?
Before deciding what's worth your time today, check that decision against your own verified experience rather than against whatever is loudest.
ugica pāhātām sṛṣṭī | galbalā disato dṛṣṭīm | parī te rājasattecī goṣṭī | vegaḷīca
Just looking at sṛṣṭi — commotion appears to sight; / but the matter of royal-authority — is different.
Looked at casually, the created world seems like sheer commotion and confusion; but the actual governing order underneath it — its 'royal authority' — is an entirely different matter from the surface noise, as the following ovīs unpack.
Don't judge a chaotic-looking situation by its surface noise; look for the underlying order actually running it.
pṛthvīmadhem jitukīm śarīrem | titukīm bhagavamtācīm gharem | nānā sukhem yeṇem dvārem | prāpta hotī
As many bodies are on earth — so many homes of Bhagavant; / various sukhas through this door — are attained.
As many living bodies as exist on earth, that many are homes of Bhagavant; a wide range of joys reach each person through this very doorway of embodiment.
Treat your own body and daily life as a dwelling worth honoring, not a mere container to be endured.
tyācā mahimā kaḷela koṇālā | mātā vāmṭūna kṛpāḷu jālā | pratyakṣa jagadīśa jagālā | rakṣitase
Whose mahimā is known to whom? Mother distributing, became merciful; / directly jagadīśa to the world — protects.
Who can truly grasp God's greatness? The Mother-principle, distributing herself everywhere, became compassionate; and Jagadīśa, the Lord of the world, directly protects the world itself.
Extend real protective care to whatever is in your charge today, treating it as an expression of that same compassionate distribution.
satta pṛthvīmadhem vāmṭalī | jethem tethem vibhāgalī | kaḷenem sṛṣṭi cālilī | bhagavamtāce
Authority distributed on earth; divided in each place; / by art, the sṛṣṭi proceeded — of Bhagavant.
This governing authority (satta) is spread throughout the earth, divided into every single place; by this skillful art, creation itself proceeds — and it all belongs to Bhagavant.
When you notice order emerging in a complex situation, credit the underlying skill at work rather than assuming it happened by accident.
mūḷa jāṇatyā puruṣācī sattā | śarīrīm vibhāgalī tatvatā | sakaḷa kaḷā cāturyatā | tethem vase
The authority of the root-knowing puruṣa — distributed in body truly; / all art, cāturya — dwells there.
The authority of the root-knowing puruṣa (the primal conscious principle) is genuinely distributed within every body; all skill and cleverness that anyone shows actually resides there, at that root.
When you admire someone's skill or talent, trace your appreciation back to the deeper source of aliveness that makes any skill possible.
sakaḷa purācā īśa | jagāmadhyem to jagadīśa | nānā śarīrīm sāvakāsa | karūm lāge
Lord of all cities; in the world he is jagadīśa; / leisurely in various bodies — begins to act.
He is the Lord of all forms; in the world he is called Jagadīśa, who begins to act at leisure, unhurried, through countless different bodies.
Approach your own varied roles today unhurried, the way one attends to many things without being rushed by any single one.
pāhātām sṛṣṭicī racanā | te yekācena cālenā | yekaci cālavī nānā | deha dharunī
On looking at sṛṣṭi's rachanā — it does not proceed by one; / the one moves the many — holding bodies.
Looking closely at how creation is actually structured, it does not run through a single body alone — the one underlying reality moves the many, taking on body after body to do so.
When coordinating with others, remember that the same underlying purpose can express itself through very different people and roles.
nāhīm umca nīca vicārilem | nāhīm barem vāīṭa pāhilem | kārye cālom aisem jālem | bhagavamtāsī
Did not consider high-low; did not see good-bad; / 'let the work go' became so — for Bhagavant.
He did not weigh things as high or low, nor evaluate them as good or bad; the work simply was allowed to proceed — this is how it unfolded for Bhagavant.
Let necessary work proceed today without over-editing it through constant judgment of better versus worse.
kimvā neṇaṇem āḍavem kelem | kimvā abhyāsīm ghātalem | hem kaisem kaisem kelem | tyācā toci jāṇe
Or did he set not-knowing across; or placed in practice; / how this was done — only he knows.
Whether not-knowing was deliberately placed across the path, or things were set into practice some other way — exactly how this was arranged is known only to Him.
Accept that you won't always understand why a difficulty was placed in your path; act well within it rather than demanding a full explanation first.
jagadāmtarīm anusamdhāna | barem pāhāṇem hemci dhyāna | dhyāna āṇī tem jñāna | yekarūpa
Anusandhāna in jagad-antara; seeing well is dhyāna; / dhyāna and that jñāna — are one-form.
Sustained inward attention (anusandhāna) toward the inner world is what real dhyāna (meditation) is — simply seeing well; and true dhyāna and jñāna (knowledge) turn out to be one and the same thing.
Instead of treating meditation and understanding as separate tasks, practice really seeing what's in front of you as your form of both.
prāṇī samsārāsa ālā | kāmhīm yeka śāhāṇā jālā | maga to vivarom lāgalā | bhūmamḍaḷīm
The creature came to samsāra; became somewhat wise; / then he began to examine — on earth-globe.
A person enters worldly life (samsāra), grows somewhat wise through it, and only then begins to genuinely examine things on this earth.
Don't expect deep examination to happen before you've actually lived and gained some wisdom from experience — let maturity earn you the right questions.
pragaṭa rāmācem niśāṇa | ātmārāma jñānaghana | viśvambhara vidyamāna | bhāgyem kaḷe
Manifest is Rāma's standard; Ātmārāma, jñāna-ghana; / Viśvambhara present — is known by fortune.
What becomes manifest is Rāma's own standard — the Self dense with knowledge (Ātmārāma); that the all-pervading Viśvambhara is truly present becomes known only through good fortune.
Treat any moment of genuine recognition of your deeper nature as a piece of good fortune to be grateful for, not something you earned by effort alone.
upāsanā dhumḍuna vāsanā dharilī | tarī te lāmbataci gelī | mahimā na kaḷe bolilī | yethārtha āhe
Seeking upāsanā, vāsanā was held; it kept stretching; / its mahimā not understood, spoken — is the reality.
Chasing upāsanā (devotional practice) while still gripping onto desire only stretches the goal farther and farther away; the real greatness of upāsanā cannot be captured by mere description — that is simply the truth of it.
If your spiritual or personal practice keeps feeling like it's always one step further away, check whether you're still holding onto some underlying craving driving the pursuit.
draṣṭā mhaṇije pāhātā | sākṣī mhaṇije jāṇatā | anamtarūpī anamtā | voḷakhāvem
Dṛṣṭā means seer; sākṣī means knower; / endless-formed, ananta — should be recognized.
Dṛṣṭā means 'the seer'; sākṣī means 'the knower' — through these two terms, the infinite, endlessly-formed reality is meant to be recognized.
Practice distinguishing, in any moment, the part of you that simply sees from the part that comments and judges.
samgatī asāvī bhalyāmcī | dhāṭī kathā nirūpaṇācī | kāmhīm yeka manācī | viśrāmtī āhe
Should have company of the good; course of kathā-nirūpaṇa; / some mental rest — is there.
One should keep the company of good people, and follow the discipline of kathā-nirūpaṇa — sustained narrative teaching; this provides the mind some genuine rest.
Make time this week for real conversation or teaching with people you respect — treat it as rest, not extra obligation.
tyāhimadhem pratyayejñāna | jāḷūna ṭākilā anumāna | pracitīviṇa samādhāna | pāvijela kaimcem
Among these, pratyaya-jñāna; inference was burnt; / without pratīti, samādhāna — whence would be attained?
Within all of this, pratyaya-jñāna — knowledge confirmed by direct experience — burns away mere inference; without pratīti (that direct proof), how could real contentment ever be reached?
When you feel unsettled about a belief, test it against your own direct experience rather than resting on secondhand reasoning.
mūḷasamkalpa to harisamkalpa | mūḷamāyemadhīla sākṣepa | jagadāmtarīm temci rūpa | dekhijetem
The root-samkalpa is Hari-samkalpa; the attention within mūla-māyā; / in jagad-antara that same form — is seen.
The root intention (saṃkalpa) is itself Hari's own intention; the focused attention within mūla-māyā — that very same form is what is perceived within the inner world.
When you set a sincere intention today, trust that it participates in something larger than your private will alone.
upāsanā jñānasvarūpa | jñānīm cauthā deha āropa | yākāraṇem sarva samkalpa | soḍūna dyāvā
Upāsanā is jñāna-svarūpa; in jñāna, the fourth body is imposed; / for this reason all samkalpa — should be released.
Upāsanā is, in its essence, of the nature of jñāna itself; within jñāna, a 'fourth body' is provisionally superimposed as a teaching device — for this very reason, every constructed intention should eventually be released.
Use structured practices and frameworks as scaffolding, and consciously let them go once they've done their job rather than clinging to them forever.
puḍhem parabrahma viśāḷa | gaganāsārikhem pokaḷa | ghana pātaḷa komaḷa | kāye mhaṇāvem
Ahead, vast para-brahma; like the sky, hollow; / dense, fluid, tender — what to call?
Ahead lies vast para-brahma, hollow like the open sky — is it dense, thin, or soft? What name could even be given to it?
When facing something genuinely beyond your categories, resist forcing a familiar label onto it — let it remain, for now, undefined.
upāsanā mhaṇije jñāna | jñānem pāvije niramjana | yogiyāmcem samādhāna | yeṇem ritīm
Upāsanā means jñāna; by jñāna attain nirañjana; / the yogīs' samādhāna — in this manner.
Upāsanā means jñāna; through jñāna one attains nirañjana — the utterly stainless, pure state; this is exactly the manner of the yogis' contented absorption.
Treat any devotional or reflective practice today as ultimately aimed at clarity and understanding, not just ritual comfort.
vicāra nehaṭūnasā pāhe | tarī upāsanā āpaṇaci āhe | yeka jāye eka āhe | deha dharunī
On examining closely — upāsanā is oneself; / one goes, one remains — holding body.
Looking closely and examining it firmly, upāsanā turns out to be nothing other than oneself; one part comes, one part goes, while the body continues to be held.
Notice how much of what you call practice or devotion is really just an encounter with your own deeper self.
akhamḍa aisī ghālamelī | pūrvāpāra hota gelī | ātām hi taisīca cālilī | utpatti sthitī
Such constant churning — has occurred continuously; / even now as it proceeded — utpatti, sthiti.
This constant churning has been going on continuously since time immemorial; even now it proceeds just the same, through the cycle of arising and sustaining.
When you feel like today's ups and downs are uniquely chaotic, remember this same rhythm has repeated endlessly — let that steady you.

Forest-creatures' authority over the forest; water-creatures' over water; / on earth all kings — by this same logic.
Forest-creatures hold authority over the forest, water-creatures over water; on this earth, all kings rule by this very same logic — authority is proper to its own domain.
Exercise your authority within your actual domain of competence and responsibility, not by overreaching into territory that isn't yours.

Capacity is of moving; whoever does does his; / but here the foundation of Bhagavant — is needed.
There is genuine power in mere activity — whoever acts owns what they do; but here, what's actually needed underneath all of it is the foundation (adhiṣṭhāna) of Bhagavant.
However capable you are, deliberately ground your effort in something larger than your own willpower alone.

kartā jagadīśa hem tom kharem | parī vibhāga ālā pṛthakākārem | tethem ahamtecem kāvirem | bādhijenā
Kartā is jagadīśa — this is true; but the portion has come separate; / there the confusion of ahantā — should not afflict.
It's true that the ultimate doer is Jagadīśa; but agency has come to appear divided into separate portions — and it's precisely there that the confusion of ego (ahantā) should not be allowed to take hold.
When you succeed at something, remember your part is a portion of a larger working, not proof of a separate, self-made self.

Hari is giver, Hari is enjoyer — such proceeds truly; / about this matter — the consideration should be seen.
'Hari is the giver, Hari is the enjoyer' — this is how things truly proceed; this matter deserves careful consideration now, as the closing ovīs draw out (20.4.029–030).
Notice, in both giving and receiving today, that you are not the sole source or the sole recipient — hold both more lightly.

sakaḷa kartā parameśvaru | āpalā māika vicāru | jaisem kaḷela taisem karūm | jagadāmtarem
All-doer is Parameśvara; one's own is the māyika consideration; / as known, so let us do — the jagad-antara.
The all-doer is Parameśvara; what belongs to oneself is only the relative, māyika (illusory-level) consideration — so let us act as best understood, within this inner world.
Act according to your best current understanding, while holding that understanding itself as provisional and relative.
devāyevaḍhem capaḷa nāhīm | brahmāyevaḍhem niścaḷa nāhīm | pāirī caḍhona pāhīm | mūḷapariyamta
Nothing so agile as Deva; nothing so niścala as Brahma; / climb the stairs — up to the root.
Nothing is as swift and agile as the Divine-in-action; nothing is as utterly still as Brahma. Climb the steps of practice and understanding, step by step, all the way to the very root — the samāsa's closing image of the whole path.
Approach your growth as a graduated climb — take the next step available to you today rather than trying to leap to the root all at once.
