For someone today
Tukaram describes putting a stone over the whole business of pleasure and pain, sealing it shut, as if he had even made death itself die. Since Vitthal is everywhere and nothing is truly separate from him, Tukaram asks why he should keep struggling and striving on his own. He says there is nothing left to sort out, nothing to bring in or push away, because arguing about it only leaves a dry, pointless quarrel. He compares himself to a laborer working in Vitthal's house: all the goods and profits belong to the master, and all Tukaram wants is his daily wage, which is simply nearness to God. He does not worry about gain or loss, because that is the master's business, not his. The lesson is that you can stop carrying the weight of every outcome yourself. If you trust that everything ultimately belongs to something greater than you, you are free to just show up, do your part honestly, and let go of tallying up wins and losses.
