What it means
Bhāva-itself-is-Deva abhang. The opening recommendation: dhanyē śuddha jātī — dharīm laukarī paratī — by wealth (and) pure-jāti — turn back quickly. (The first line is somewhat compressed; one reading: those who have dhana and pure-jāti — quickly turn back / make the paratī (return-step) — toward bhakti before pride sets in.)
The middle counsel: aikilēm tē chi kānīm — hōya paripāka manīm — what was heard in the ear — let it pari-pāka (= cook-fully / mature) in the manas. Pari-pāka is the full ripening — like fruit on the tree, like rice in the pot. The teaching-heard-in-the-ear must be cooked in the manas before it becomes nourishment.
Kaḷavaḷā pōṭīm — sāvadhāna hitā-sāṭīm — kaḷavaḷā in the pōṭa — sāvadhāna for hita's sake. Kaḷavaḷā (the heart-cry / urgent-care) inside; sāvadhāna (alertness) for hita (one's own benefit / well-being). The kaḷavaḷā-with-sāvadhāna combination keeps the teaching-cooked-in-mind alive.
The closing aphorism: Tukā mhaṇē bhāva — tyācā tō chi jāṇām Deva — Tuka says — bhāva — that very, know as Deva. The radical equation: bhāva = Deva. Compare 1325 jimkilā samsāra hō'ūnī kinkara Viṭhōbācē, 1326 Deva chi laukikīm avaghā kēlā, 1344 uralā Viṭṭhala — khāyē bōlē gāyē nācē. The closing-aphorism-of-this-abhang continues the jīvan-mukti register: don't look anywhere else for Deva — your bhāva itself is Deva.
