Abhanga 2391
The verse
तापल्यावांचून नव्हे अळंकार । पिटूनियां सार उरलें तें ॥१॥ मग कदाकाळीं नव्हे शुद्ध जाति । नासें शत्रु होती मित्र ते चि ॥ध्रु.॥ किळवर बरें भोगूं द्यावें भोगा । फांसिलें तें रोगा हातीं सुटे ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे मन करावें पाठेळ । साहावे चि जाळ सिजेवरि ॥३॥
Literal translation
English: ★ Without heating, no ornament — pounding, the essence remains ★. Then no time becomes pure-jāti — destruction; the very enemies become friends. Let the body experience the bhoga well — what's trapped escapes disease's hand. ★ Tuka says — make the mind pāṭhēḷa (resilient) — bear the flames until cooked ★.

★ THE COOKED-METAPHOR ★: Tukā mhaṇē mana karāvē pāṭhēḷa — sāhāvē chi jāḷa sijēvari — ★ make the mind pāṭhēḷa (resilient) — bear the flames until cooked ★. Pāṭhēḷa = resilient, hardened. Sijē = until-cooked. ★ Make-the-mind pāṭhēḷa; bear-the-flames until-cooked (= until-fully-prepared). ★
