What it means
A short 4-verse helpless-grief verse. NON-Tukārām (by cluster-context).
The bhakta-brother laments: all-our-relations-and-people-have-become-strangers; I made everything-into-this for-the-Lord's-sake; the Lord-sat-here-and-took-out-the-body's-root (= the family-foundation); how-can-things-be-now after-all-this?
For someone today
Kānhobā's grief here is raw and unresolved. He says the people around him have become like strangers, even though everything he did, he did for the Lord's sake. He feels as if his very foundation has been wiped out, left with nothing but bankruptcy at the root. Now, in this moment, all he can ask is: what am I supposed to do, forgetting everything I've lost? How can things possibly go on after so much has already been taken? It names the disorientation and exhaustion that comes after losing everything for a cause, without pretending there's an easy way forward.
