Abhanga 3013
A long stretch of hardship can end suddenly in abundance that feels like a debt long owed by fate finally being paid.
The verse

What it means
A 3-verse resolution-continuation by Tukyā-bandhu. NON-Tukārām. Continuing the tonal-shift begun in 3012.
The brother continues-the-discovery: the deśāvara (wandering-from-home) has-escaped; the sakaḷa-siddhi-mansion came-home; we're nidhāī-of-nidhāna; ananta-guṇa-ratna attached; janma's-vichhinna and dāridra-duḥkha have-(ended); the boat-of-ocean anchored-here; samcita-pulled, pūrva-datta-attained. The closing-image: Puruṣōttama — such a savdāgara (great-merchant) — has-been-found. The Lord-as-great-merchant who-brought-all-these-goods.
For someone today
Kānhobā continues his turnaround here. He says the restless wandering, all the endless doing and undoing, has finally come to an end — a house full of every kind of blessing has arrived at their door. They've become keepers of a treasure, adorned with a jewel of infinite qualities, and the suffering of poverty, the sense of a failed birth, has simply ended. Like a ship from the ocean unexpectedly finding shelter here, it feels pulled in by accumulated good karma, a gift long owed finally arriving. Tukārām's brother says their fortune now has no limit — they have found, in Puruṣottama, a great merchant who brought all these riches home. It shows how a long stretch of hardship can end suddenly in abundance that feels like a debt long owed by fate finally being paid.
Where this applies
- When a long period of struggle suddenly gives way to unexpected abundance.
- When you feel that patience and past effort have finally paid off in ways you didn't plan.
- When something good arrives seemingly out of nowhere, like a ship reaching shore.
- When you want to describe a turnaround in fortune as a gift rather than something earned alone.
