Durvāsayā svāmī gumtalōm bhākesī — Durvāsa-svāmī, I am bound by promise; pusā jā Baḷisī nirōpa dyāvā — go and ask Bali, let (him) give nirōpa.
The verse
दुर्वासया स्वामी गुंतलों भाकेसी । पुसा जा बळीसी निरोप द्यावा ॥१॥
त्याचे आज्ञेविण आम्हां येतां नये । द्वारपाळ राहें होऊनियां ॥ध्रु.॥
पुसे दुर्वासया बळीसी जाऊनि । येरू म्हणे झणी बोलों नका ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे केला अन्यत्राचा त्याग । तेव्हां पांडुरंग सखा जाला ॥३॥
Literal translation
Durvāsayā svāmī gumtalōm bhākesī — Durvāsa-svāmī, I am bound by promise; pusā jā Baḷisī nirōpa dyāvā — go and ask Bali, let (him) give nirōpa. Tyāñce ājñeviṇa āmhām yetām naye — without his ājñā, I cannot come; dvāra-pāḷa rāhe hōūnīyām — I have remained the dvāra-pāḷa. Puse Durvāsayā Baḷisī jāūnī — Durvāsa goes and asks Bali; yerū mhaṇe jhaṇī bōlōm nakā — the other (Bali) says: do not speak at-all. Tukā mhaṇe kelā anyatrāñcā tyāga — Tukā says: (he) made anyatra-tyāga; tevhām Pāṇḍuranga sakhā jālā — then Pāṇḍuranga became (his) sakhā.
What it means
★ 2nd-of-7 Durvāsa-Bali narrative. The Lord-explains-his-bound-state and-tells-Durvāsa-to-petition-Bali; Bali-refuses-immediately.
★ The doctrinal-claim at-the-close: When-Bali-made-anyatra-tyāga (renunciation of-other-places-or-motives), then-Pāṇḍuranga-became-his-sakhā. The bhakti-doctrine: exclusive-renunciation-of-other-objects results-in-Lord-as-sakhā.

Tukārām's Durvāsa-Bali #2. (The Lord says:) Durvāsa-svāmī, I am bound by a promise; go and ask Bali — let him give permission. Without his command, I cannot come — I have remained his dvāra-pāḷa. Durvāsa goes and asks Bali; the other (Bali) says: do not speak (this) at-all. When (Bali) made renunciation-of-other-(places), then Pāṇḍuranga became (his) sakhā. The verse permits the narrative-development and the anyatra-tyāga-makes-Lord-sakhā doctrine.
