Literal translation
Pāṇḍurangā tujhe kāya vāṇūm guṇa — Pāṇḍuranga, what guṇas to praise; pavāḍe he dhanya jagīm tujhe — your pavāḍas are dhanya in the world. Daṇḍile Durvāsā surā asurāne — Durvāsa was oppressed by sura-and-asura; tō ālā gārhāṇe sāngāvayā — he came to gārhāṇe (tell-grievance). Baḷichiye dvārīm tumhī baisaletī — at Bali's door, you have remained-seated; Durvāsa vinatī karī bhāve — Durvāsa makes vinatī with bhāva. Tukā mhaṇe krpā-sāgarā Śrīharī — Tukā says: O krpā-sāgara, Śrīhari; tujhī bhaktāvarī premachhāyā — your prema-chhāyā is on the bhaktas.
What it means
★ Opens the 7-abhang Durvāsa-Bali-Dvārakā narrative cluster (3088-3094). The narrative continues-from-3087 (Lord guards Bali's door — not by fear but by krpā).
The premise: Durvāsa-the-sage is being-oppressed by-sura-and-asura; comes-to-Vaikuṇṭha to-complain; but-the-Lord is-stuck at-Bali's-door; Durvāsa-pleads.
For someone today
Tukārām's Durvāsa-Bali opening. Pāṇḍuranga, what guṇas of yours can I praise? — your heroic-deeds are blessed in the world. Durvāsa was oppressed by sura and asura — he came to tell (his) grievance. At Bali's door, you have remained-seated; Durvāsa makes entreaty with bhāva. O compassion-ocean Śrīhari — your love-shade is on the bhaktas. The verse permits the opening of-the-Durvāsa-Bali narrative with bhakti-confidence.
