Literal translation
Vyāpilē sarvatra — (he has) pervaded everywhere; bāherī bhīterī anta — outside, inside, end. Aise Govinde govile — Govinda has thus govile (bound); bōle na vajāye bōlile — what is spoken cannot be uttered. Samchitāñcī hōḷī — hōḷī of samchita; karūnī jīva ghetalā baḷī — making, (he has) taken jīva as baḷi. Tukayā-bandhu mhaṇe nāhī — Tukārām's-brother says: nothing; ātām samsārā urī kāmhī — of samsāra is left over.
What it means
A 3-verse text by Tukyā-bandhu (Kānhōbā). NON-Tukārām.
The claim: Govinda has-pervaded-everywhere (outside-inside-end); has-tied-me-up so-completely that-speech-can't-utter-it; has-made-hōḷī-of-samchita; has-taken-jīva-as-baḷi. Nothing-of-samsāra-left.
★ Striking parallel-text to-Tukārām's-own 3121 (deha-as-baḷi, hōḷī-of-samchita). The brother's-text uses the-same-resolution-imagery but-frames-it as-accomplished-fact (passive — Govinda-has-done-it-to-me) rather-than-resolve.
For someone today
Kānhōbā's pervasion-claim. (He has) pervaded everywhere — outside, inside, end. Govinda has thus tied (me) — what is spoken cannot be uttered. (He has) made a bonfire of (the) accumulated-karma; has taken (my) life as sacrifice. Now nothing of samsāra is left over. The verse permits the passive-claim that the-Lord-has-done-the-burning-and-sacrifice-already.
Where this applies
- NON-Tukārām composition — signed Tukyā-bandhu mhaṇe
- Govinda-pervaded-everywhere; samsāra-burned canonical-imagery
