Abhanga 3755
Even after long restless searching, real peace can be reached, and ordinary shared comfort, like a meal together, matters even while some worries remain unsettled.
The verse
Literal translation
Bahu phiralōm ṭhāyāṭhāva — kōṭhe bhāva pure chi nā — much roamed place-to-place — nowhere bhāva completed. Samādhāna tōm pāvalōm — uralōm bōlōm yāvari — reached samādhāna — only remaining to speak. Ghe gā Devā āśīrvāda — āmuchyā nāmda bhāgyāne — take, Deva, the āśīrvāda — we prosper by bhāgya. Tukā mhaṇe jevūm ādhī — khavakhava madhīm sārāvī — Tukā says: let us eat first — khavakhava settle in middle.
What it means
A short 3-verse settled-petition: I-roamed; samādhāna-reached; let's-share-meal, settle-talk in-middle.
For someone today
Tukaram says he wandered from place to place for a long time, and nowhere did his heart's longing find full completion. Yet now he has arrived at real peace, and all that is left is simply to speak of it. He offers God a blessing in return, saying their household prospers by good fortune. Then, in a wonderfully homely turn, he says: let's eat first, and settle the anxious talk in between, the way a family sits down to share a meal even while worries are still unresolved.
