Abhanga 4156
Tukaram describes the moment of finally seeing what he had long for: he ran to behold that face, and in that instant, the deep sorrow he had carried across many lifetimes simply lifted. What he had only heard about in stories, he now saw directly for himself, and his restless mind finally settled at those feet. He says his heart's desire is now completely fulfilled, with no craving left inside him.
The verse
धांवोनियां आलों पहावया मुख । गेलें माझें दुःख जन्मांतरिंचें ॥१॥
ऐकिलें ही होतें तैसें चि पाहिलें । मन स्थिरावलें तुझ्या पायीं ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे माझी इच्छा पूर्ण जाली । कांहीं न राहिली वासना हे ॥३॥
Literal translation
Dhāvōniyām ālōm pahavayā mukha — gele mājhe duḥkha janmāntariñchem — running I came to see (your) face — gone is my duḥkha of former-births. Aikilem hī hōte taise chi pāhile — mana sthirāvale tujhyā pāyīm — what I had heard — that-very-thing I saw — mind stabilized at your feet. Tukā mhaṇe mājhī icchā pūrṇa jālī — kāhīm na rāhilī vāsanā he — Tukā says: my wish is fulfilled — no vāsanā remains.
