Abhanga 4173
Tukārām says: let eyes and ears rest on the beautiful one; let mind rest at the tender feet — māyā is warded-off and equanimity arrives.
The verse
गुणा आला ईटेवरी । पीतांबरधारी सुंदर जो ॥१॥
डोळे कान त्याच्या ठायीं । मन पायीं राहो हें ॥ध्रु.॥
निवारोनी जाय माया । ऐसी छाया जयासी ॥२॥
तुका म्हणे समध्यान । हे चरण सकुमार ॥३॥
Literal translation
Guṇā ālā īṭevarī — pītāmbaradharī sundara jō — the Guṇa-one has come on the brick — the Pītāmbara-wearing beautiful one. Ḍōḷe kāna tyācyā ṭhāyīm — mana pāyīm rāhō he — eyes-ears in his place — mana stay at (his) feet. Nivārōnī jāya māyā — aisī chhāyā jayāsī — māyā goes-warded-off — such (is the) shade for whomever. Tukā mhaṇe samadhyāna — he charaṇa sakumāra — Tukā says: equanimous — these tender feet.
What it means
A 3-verse devotional-image. The-Guṇa-one (Viṭṭhal) has-come-on-the-brick — yellow-clothed-beautiful; let-eyes-ears-be-with-him, mana-at-feet; whoever-takes-his-shade — māyā-is-warded-off; these-tender-feet give-samādhāna. Samādhāna — equanimity / contentment.
