What it means
A wake-up-and-give-dāna abhang. Tukya-bamdhu mudra. Five claims:
-
जागे होउनि करा कांहीं दान — नका ऐकोनि झाकों लोचन — wake — give some dāna — don't hearing close lōcana. The opening-call: wake up and give some dāna; don't, on hearing (the call), close your eyes (= ignore). Wake-and-give; don't ignore.
-
चिपळ्या टाळ हातीं मुखीं घोष — नारायणा — ciplyā, ṭāḷa in hand — ghōṣa — Nārāyaṇa. The form-of-bhakti: cymbals (ciplyā, ṭāḷa) in hand; ghōṣa (loud-shout) in the mouth — Nārāyaṇa. Public-kīrtan-form*.
-
द्या परी मीस घेऊं नका भाई — पुढें विन्मुख होतां बरें नाहीं — give but don't take mīsa — ahead, turning vinmukha is not good. The no-excuse rule: give the dāna; don't take mīsa (excuse, evasion); ahead, turning-away is not good. Don't evade; turning-away later is bad.
-
जालें एक चित्त तरी बहुत — तेवढ्यासाठीं नका करूं वाताहात — नका भार घेऊं करूं निरास — धर्म सारफळ संसारास — one citta united is enough — don't vātāhāta for that — don't take bhāra, don't nirāsa — dharma is sāra-phaḷa for samsāra. The minimum-required claim: one citta united (with the deva) is enough; don't vātāhāta (destroy) for-that-purpose-alone; don't take bhāra (heavy-burden); don't nirāsa (despair); dharma is the sāra-phaḷa (essential-fruit) for samsāra. Minimum-investment, not maximum-burden*.
-
तुकयाबंधु म्हणे धरा — ओळखी नाहीं तरी जाल अघोरा — Tukya's brother says: hold — without oḷakhī, you'll go to aghōra. The closing-warning: hold (the dharma); if you don't have oḷakhī (recognition), you will go to the aghōra (terrible-state, hell). No-recognition = aghōra-destination.

-
One citta* united is enough; don't destroy for that. Ēka citta tarī bahuta — vātāhāta nakā. The minimum is one citta united; don't burden yourself excessively-and-fail.
-
Dharma is sāra-phaḷa for samsāra*. Dharma sāra-phaḷa samsārāsa. The dharma is the essential-fruit of samsāra; the only thing worth taking from samsāra is dharma-fruit*.
-
