Abhanga 448
What the Lord wills happens, so let yourself be guided like a mount carries its rider, and only real understanding, not mere chanting, turns an ordinary person into a true seeker.
The verse
Literal translation
Allah karē sō hōya — bābā — kartāra's crown — cow-calf, He drives — yārī-tiger, no seven. My khyāl of sāhēba — bābā became kartāra — in-front-and-behind, mounts the back — He became asuvāra. Jikira of Allah — bābā — all-bodies-inside vēsa. Tuka says: who bujhē — that one became darvēsa.

What it means
A Hindavi-fakir Allah-karē-sō-hōya abhang. Continuation of the Hindavi-Sufi cluster. Three claims:
-
The opening-claim: Allah does what He wills; bābā is the crown of thekartāra(Creator); He drives even cow and calf (= cattle, peaceable creatures); but no friendship-with-tiger and the seven (predators). Allah-as-creator-and-driver.
-
ख्याल मेरा साहेबका — बाबा हुवा करतार — व्हांटें आघे चढे पीठ — आपे हुवा असुवार — my khyāl of sāhēba — bābā became kartāra — in-front-and-behind mounts the back — He became asuvāra. The deva-as-rider claim: mykhyāl(concern / mind) is of thesāhēba(Lord); bābā becamekartāra; in-front-and-behind, He mounts the back (= takes complete control);He himself became the asuvāra (rider).Allah is both Lord and Rider; the bhakta is the mount.
-
जिकिर करो अल्लाकी — बाबा सबल्यां अंदर भेस — कहे तुका जो नर बुझे सो हि भया दरवेस — do jikira of Allah — bābā all-bodies-inside vēsa — Tuka says: who understands becomes darvēsa. The closing-claim: do thejikira(zikr) ofAllah; bābā is in all bodies as thevēsa(form); Tuka says: the man whobujhē(understands) — that one became adarvēsa(dervish, Sufi-mystic). Understanding-makes-darvesh.

For someone today
This abhang teaches surrender to divine will: what the Lord wills, happens, so stop exhausting yourself fighting against it. It pictures God not as a distant ruler but as the rider who takes the reins of your life, guiding you the way a rider guides the mount beneath him. The practice it recommends is simple remembrance, repeating the divine name, while recognizing that same presence living inside every body you meet. But the abhang is careful to say chanting or hearing alone isn't the point. Only when you truly understand this does an ordinary person become a genuine seeker.

- Deva is rider on your back. Mount-rider relation.
- Jikira+vēsa in all bodies. Practice + recognition.
