The verse
अनुतापें दोष । जाय न लगतां निमिष ॥१॥ परि तो राहे विसावला । आदीं अवसानीं भला ॥ध्रु.॥ हें चि प्रायिश्चत । अनुतापीं न्हाय चित्त ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे पापा । शिवों नये अनुतापा ॥३॥
Literal translation
English: Anutāpa — dōṣa — goes — nimiṣa not-taken. But he — visāvalā — at ādi-avasāna — bhalā. This-only is prāyaścitta — anutāpīm-nhāya citta. Tuka says: pāpa — śivōm-nayē — anutāpa.

By anutāpa (after-burning, the burning-up-of-regret), dōṣa (fault) goes — without taking even a nimiṣa (an eye-blink, an instant); but the (bhakta-in-anutāpa) remains visāvalā (rested, settled, at-ease); at ādi (beginning) and avasāna (end), bhalā (well, in good-state). Compare 0670 cāṇḍāḷa-cāṇḍāḷa-mahā-confession (Tukyā-bandhu's mudra); same confession-context but here approached through what works — the anutāpa-bath — rather than the confession-list. The pāpā śivōm nayē anutāpā line is precise: protect the cleansed-state from re-contamination.
