Abhanga 2357
For today: embrace, throat-to-throat — the embrace falls all-bodied; mind doesn't go back — Nārāyaṇa in sambhoga; word meets word, eyes enter eyes; in inner-dhyāna — the jīva has melted into the jīvana .
The verse
Literal translation
Embrace, throat-to-throat — the embrace falls all-bodied. The mind doesn't go back — Nārāyaṇa is in sambhoga. Word meets word — eyes enter the eyes. Tuka says — in inner-dhyāna — the jīva has melted into the jīvana.
What it means
THE CLIMAX-OF-UNION ABHANG. Sixth and final of the gopikā-līlā cluster (2352-2357). The mystical-union-completion.
THE KAṆṬHA-EMBRACE IMAGE: ālingana kaṇṭha-kaṇṭhīm — paḍē miṭhī sarvāngē — embrace, throat-to-throat — the embrace falls all-bodied. Kaṇṭha-kaṇṭhīm = throat-to-throat. Sarvānga = all-bodied, full-body. Embrace, throat-to-throat — the embrace falls all-bodied (= full-body-embrace). The intimate-erotic-bhakti-image of-the-gopī-Kṛṣṇa-union.
The Nārāyaṇa-sambhoga: na ghaḍē māgē paratē mana — Nārāyaṇa sambhōgī — the mind doesn't go back — Nārāyaṇa is in sambhoga. Sambhoga = complete-enjoyment, mystical-union. The mind-doesn't-go-back; Nārāyaṇa is-in-sambhoga.
The word-and-eye-meeting: vachanāsī vachana miḷē — righatī ḍōḷē ḍōḷiyānt — word meets word — eyes enter the eyes. Word-meets-word; eyes-enter-the-eyes (= total-mutual-merging).
THE FINAL UNION LINE: Tukā mhaṇē antardhyānīm — jīva jīvanīm virālyā — Tuka says — in inner-dhyāna — the jīva has melted into the jīvana. Antardhyāna = inner-meditation. Virālyā = melted, dissolved. In-inner-dhyāna, the jīva (individual-life-essence) has-melted into-the-jīvana (life-itself, the Lord). THE CULMINATION OF THE GOPIKĀ-LĪLĀ CLUSTER: the individual-bhakta-jīva dissolves-into-the-divine-jīvana.
The 6-abhang gopikā-līlā cluster (2352-2357): - 2352: O Kānhayā — give darshan — abandoned in forest - 2353: I came running behind — stand still, Kānhō - 2354: blessed are the gopīs — household + stealth-meeting - 2355: Hari-encircled — mayūra-phera-dance - 2356: stolen meeting in the rāṇa-forest in solitude - 2357: THE UNION-CLIMAX: kaṇṭha-embrace + jīva-melted-into-jīvana
A complete erotic-bhakti narrative-arc — from abandonment through pursuit, longing, encircling, secret-tryst, to the final dissolution-of-the-jīva-in-Nārāyaṇa.

Where this applies
- When a spiritual practice deepens to the point where self-consciousness quietly disappears.
- When you stop holding anything back in prayer or in a relationship, fully present without reservation.
- When a meditation session dissolves the usual sense of being a separate observer.
- When love, human or divine, reaches a point past words, held simply in a shared gaze.
