Abhanga 2473

For today: consider the final-moment — time is being spent ; daughters-sons aren't auspicious; worldly is inner-screen.

When you catch yourself living as though there will always be more time

When a family milestone like a child's marriage makes you forget everything beyond it

When you realize you have stopped thinking about God amid the pull of daily life

The verse

सावधान ऐसें काय तें विचारा । आले हो संसारा सकळ ही ॥१॥ अंतीं समयाचा करणें विचार । वेचती सादर घटिका पळें ॥ध्रु.॥ मंगळ हें नोहे कन्यापुत्रादिक । राहिला लौकिक अंतरपाट ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे देव अंतरला दुरी । डोळिया अंधारी पडलीसे ॥३॥

Literal translation

Being alert — what to consider — you all came to samsāra. Consider the final-moment — moments and instants are being spent. Daughters-sons aren't auspicious — worldly stays as inner-screen. Tuka says: Dēva became distant — darkness fell in eyes.

What it means

THE FINAL-MOMENT-CONSIDERATION ABHANG.

The opening reflection: antīm samayāchā karaṇē vichāra — vēchatī sādara ghaṭikā paḷē — consider the final-moment — moments and instants are being spent. Consider the antya-samaya (final-moment); the ghaṭikā-paḷē (units of time) are-being-spent-attentively (sādara). The memento-mori instinct of Vārkarī ethics.
