Abhanga 2493

Sincere remorse combined with loving devotion to the Name can cleanse a stained heart and break the grip of one's past karma.

When you keep replaying old mistakes and feel permanently marked by them

When you want to change your life but doubt regret alone can do anything

When you are ready to surrender your burdens fully instead of carrying them alone

The verse

जाली होती काया । बहु मळीन देवराया ॥१॥ तुमच्या उजळली नामें । चित्त प्रक्षाळिलें प्रेमें ॥ध्रु.॥ अनुतापें झाला झाडा । प्रारब्धाचा केला तोडा ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे देह पायीं । ठेवूनि झालों उतराईं ॥३॥

Literal translation

Body was much-stained, Dēva-rāyā. Brightened by your Name — chitta washed by prema. By anutāpa cleared — prārabdha broken. Tuka says: placed body at feet — became indebted-and-paid.

What it means

THE NAME-BRIGHTENS-CHITTA + ANUTĀPA-CLEARS-PRĀRABDHA ABHANG.

The Name's-cleansing: tumchyā ujaḷalī nāmē — chitta prakṣāḷilē prēmē — brightened by your Name — chitta washed by prema. Brightened by-your-Name; chitta-washed by-prema.

Anutāpa-clears-prārabdha: anutāpē jhālā jhāḍā — prārabdhāchā kēlā tōḍā — by anutāpa cleared — prārabdha broken. Anutāpa = remorse, regret, sincere repentance. By-anutāpa, cleared (jhāḍā = swept); prārabdha is-broken-(tōḍā). Real-remorse can-break-prārabdha — a powerful-claim about-the-power-of-repentance.
