Abhanga 2492

Having given everything to this bond, the devotee asks God to drop the abstract philosophy and simply accept the embrace, letting whatever is unresolved stay unresolved.

When you've poured your whole self into a relationship and need it to hold firm.

When you catch yourself stuck in abstract debate instead of simply showing up for someone.

When you decide that the bond itself matters more than resolving every disagreement first.

The verse

उदारा कृपाळा अंगा देवांच्या देवा । तुजसवें पण आतां आमुचा दावा ॥१॥ कैसा जासी सांग आतां मजपासुनी । केलें वाताहात दिले संसारा पाणी ॥ध्रु.॥ अवघीं आवरूनि तुझे लाविलीं पाठीं । आतां त्या विसर सोहंकोहंच्या गोष्टी ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे आतां चरणीं घातली मिठी । पडिली ते पडो तुम्हा आम्हांसी तुटी ॥३॥

Literal translation

Generous kṛpāḷu Dēva-of-Dēvas — with you my claim now. How can you go now from me — I've ruined, given samsāra to water. Gathered-all, set-after-you — now forget those sō'ham-kō'ham talk. Tuka says: embraced the feet — whatever falls between us, falls.

What it means

THE FORGET-SŌ'HAṀ-KŌ'HAṀ-TALK + EMBRACE-THE-FEET ABHANG.

THE ANTI-ADVAITIC FORMULA: avaghīm āvarūni tujhē lāvilīm pāṭhīm — ātām tyā visara sō'ham-kō'hamchyā gōṣṭī — gathered-all, set-after-you — now forget those sō'ham-kō'ham talk. Sō'ham-kō'ham = the Advaitic-formula so'ham (I-am-that) / ko'ham (who-am-I). Gathered-all-faculties, set-them-after-you; NOW FORGET those sō'ham-kō'ham talk. A direct anti-Advaitic-formula instruction — bhakti-asks the-Lord to abandon-the-non-dual-discourse and-let-the-bhakta-embrace-the-feet.

THE EMBRACE: charaṇīm ghātalī miṭhī — paḍilī tē paḍō tumhā āmhāmsī tuṭī — embraced the feet — whatever falls between us, falls. Embraced the-feet; whatever-falls between-you-and-me, falls (= we'll-figure-out-the-philosophy-later). The bhakti-claim trumps philosophical-disputes through-the-immediate-embrace.

For today: generous Dēva-of-Dēvas; samsāra washed; forget sō'ham-kō'ham talk ; embraced the feet — whatever falls, falls .
