Abhanga 2511

Plant yourself firmly at what you claim as yours, trust that real effort can overcome anything, and burn away the laziness that hides the truth.

When you commit to a practice and refuse to give up on it halfway

When you catch anger or desire pulling you away from what you started

When you recognize laziness, not fate, is what has kept you from your goal

The verse

एका ऐसें एक होतें कोणां काळें । समर्थाच्या बळें काय नव्हे ॥१॥ घालूनि बैसलों मिरासीस पाया । जिंकों देवराया संदेह नाहीं ॥ध्रु.॥ केला तो न संडीं आतां कइवाड । वारीन हे आड कामक्रोध ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे जाळीं अळसाची धाडी । नव्हती आली जोडी कळों साच ॥३॥

Literal translation

One becomes another at some time — with the powerful's strength, what can't be. Placed at feet for inheritance — will win Dēva-rāyā, no doubt. Won't release the protection started — will divert kāma-krōdha. Tuka says: burn the laziness-net — wasn't there, the true association known.

What it means

THE PLACED-AT-FEET-FOR-INHERITANCE ABHANG.

The claim: ghālūni baisalōm mirāsīsa pāyā — jinkōm Dēva-rāyā sandēha nāhīm — placed at feet for inheritance — will win Dēva-rāyā, no doubt. Placed-myself at-the-feet for-the-inheritance-claim (mirāsī); will-win Dēva-rāyā, no-doubt. The mirāsī-rights bhakti-claim.
