Abhanga 2541

Real joy comes from the company of fellow devotees, and singing or dancing freely in that joy needs no other method beyond letting go of shame, fear, and worry about reputation.

When you stop yourself from expressing joy in worship because you're self-conscious about how it looks.
When you're seeking out the company of people who share your devotion because it lifts you up.
When you want to let go of caring what others think and just move with your own happiness.

The verse

Literal translation

Joy comes to jīva in Vaiṣṇava company — Dēvā, I know nothing else. Sing, dance, jump in own mood — by mind's ānanda, with love. Shame-fear-doubt distanced, honor — no other sādhana known. Tuka says: by own effort — protect us, Jaga-deśa.

What it means

THE JOY-IN-VAIṢṆAVA-COMPANY + SING-DANCE-JUMP ABHANG.
