Abhanga 2542
True surrender is repeated, humble, and sincere, calling yourself the servant of servants rather than trying to earn favor through polite words or outward show.
When words of praise feel too thin to carry the gratitude or respect you actually feel.
When you catch yourself using polished manners instead of real humility to get someone's favor.
When you approach a teacher or elder and want your respect to be genuine rather than performed.
The verse
शरण शरण वाणी । शरण त्रिवाचा विनवणी ॥१॥ स्तुती न पुरे हे वाचा । सत्य दास मी दासांचा ॥ध्रु.॥ देह सांभाळून । पायांवरी लोटांगण ॥२॥ विनवी संता तुका दीन । नव्हे गोरवें उत्तीर्ण ॥३॥
Literal translation
Śaraṇa, śaraṇa voice — śaraṇa three-times-uttered request. Stuti doesn't suffice — truly, I am dāsa of dāsas. Body kept-safe — prostration at feet. Tuka petitions saints, poor — not paid by external-greeting.
