Abhanga 2571
Standing firmly for truth may cost you family ties and comfort, but before God there is no room left for wounded pride.
When people misread your firmness or persistence as harshness
When choosing a devoted path has meant stepping back from familiar relationships or family expectations
When you need to set aside pride and admit that you lack nothing before God
The verse
निष्ठ मी जालों अतिवादागुणें । हें कां नारायणें नेणिजेल ॥१॥ सांडियेली तुम्ही गोत परिसोय । फोडविली डोय कर्मा हातीं ॥ध्रु.॥ सांपडूनि संदी केली जीवेंसाटीं । घ्यावयासि तुटी कारण हें ॥२॥ तुका म्हणे तुज काय म्हणों उणें । नाहीं अभिमानें चाड देवा ॥३॥
Literal translation
Became firm by much-debate-virtue — Nārāyaṇa, won't you know?. You renounced kin-touchstone — broke head at karma's hand. Caught in chance, life-staked — taking break, this is the reason. Tuka says: what to say lacking — no concern for abhimāna, Dēvā.
