Abhanga 3017
A telltale sign of a ruined character is losing the ability to honor elders or tell loved ones from strangers, and by that point good counsel no longer reaches them.
The verse
मायझवा खर गाढवाचें बीज । तें ऐसें सहज कळों येतें ॥१॥
आपमानिलें जेणें श्रेष्ठाचें वचन । ते चि त्याची खुण ओळखावी ॥ध्रु.॥

Madyapīra purā adhama yātīñcā — the completely-drunk one — ofadhama yāti(low-conduct); tayā upadeśāñcā rāga vāmyā — for him, upadeśa's rāga(anger-against-counsel) (is) vain. What it means
A 3-verse anti-low-conduct polemic by Tukyā-bandhu. NON-Tukārām — separate-theme, post-cluster. Uses sharp 17th-c language.
The verse names low-conduct types: (1) one-who-disrespects-elder's-word; (2) one-of-completely-drunk-low-conduct; (3) rabid-dog. The diagnostic: these recognize-no-distinction-of-relative-or-stranger.
Note on context: The verse uses sharp 17th-c pejorative-language. As with 3016, this is bound-to-context. The diagnostic-element is disrespect-of-elders and uncontrolled-conduct, not caste-itself. Tukārām's brother elsewhere honors-mother (cluster-2977's mātechā paṭangā).
For someone today
Kānhōbā's anti-low-conduct polemic. (The cursed-one) — of donkey-seed — that is naturally known (by signs). (The one who) insulted the elder's word — that is his mark — recognize (it). The completely-drunk one — of low-conduct — for him, anger-against-counsel is vain. The rabid dog — does not consider own (or) other. The verse permits the diagnostic of low-conduct by disrespect-and-uncontrolledness.
