Literal translation
Marōnī jāīna guṇa-nāmāvarūnī — I will die-and-go on (your) guṇa-nāma; tujhyā chakra-pāṇī māya-bāpā — yours, Chakrapāṇi, mother-father. Chukavilī duḥkhe māyeñcā vōḷasā — (you have) averted (the) duḥkhas — māyā's vōḷasā (snare); tōḍōnīyām āśā-pāśa teṇe — by-breaking the āśā-pāśa (rope-of-desire) by that. Kelī kāyā tanu himvasī śītaḷa — (you have) made the kāyā-tanu — himvasī śītaḷa (cool, peaceful); chintā-taḷamaḷa nāhī aisī — there is no such chintā-taḷamaḷa. Kāḷe tōṇḍa kāḷa karūnī rāhile — the kāḷe-tōṇḍa (black-faced) kāḷa (Time) — has-stayed; bhūta-mātra jāle sajjana-sakhe — every bhūta-mātra has become a sajjana-sakhe. Tukayā-bandhu mhaṇe avaghyā deśa-diśā — Tukārām's-brother says: all deśa-diśās; mukta re Pareśā tujhyā puṇye — (are) mukta — by your puṇya, Pareśa.
What it means
A canonical 4-verse bhakti-petition by Tukyā-bandhu. NON-Tukārām.
The verse moves from-personal-dedication (I'll-die-on-your-Name) to-experience-of-Lord's-action (you-cleared-duḥkhas, broke-āśā-pāśa, made-body-cool, no-worry-tossing) to-cosmic-pacification (Kāḷa stays-quiet; every-creature becomes-sajjana-friend) to-final-claim (all-directions-are-mukta-by-your-puṇya).
The image of every-bhūta-mātra-becoming-sajjana-sakhe (every-creature-becoming-good-friend) is a striking-bhakti-non-dualism — the bhakti-experience transforms-all-creatures-into-allies. Compare-Tukārām's vrkṣa-vallī-eco-bhakti (2471).
For someone today
Kānhōbā's canonical bhakti-petition. I will die-and-go on your guṇa-nāma — yours, Chakrapāṇi mother-father. (You have) averted the duḥkhas — māyā's snare — by breaking the rope-of-desire. (You have) made the body — its frame — cool, peaceful; there is no chintā-tossing. The black-faced Time stays (quiet); every creature has become a good-friend. All directions — mukta — by your puṇya, Pareśa. The verse permits the bhakti-non-dualism that transforms-all-creatures-into-allies.
