Abhanga 3196
A fully realized devotion turns even ordinary daily acts into shared communion with the Divine, settling the mind into one steady, undivided peace.
The verse
आसन शयन भोजन गोविंदें । भरलें आनंदें त्रिभुवन॥१॥
अवघियां केली काळें तडातोडी । अवश्वरु घडी पुरों नये ॥ध्रु.॥
वांटणी घातले शरीराचे भाग । दुजियाचा लाग खंडियेला ॥२॥
आवडीच्या आलें आहारासी रूप । पृथक संकल्प मावळले ॥३॥
काम तरी क्रोध बुद्धि मन नासे । भ्रमाचे वोळसे गिळिले शांती ॥४॥
तुका म्हणे मना श्रीरंगाचा रंग । बैसला अभंग एकविध ॥५॥
Literal translation
Āsana śayana bhōjana Gōvindēm — bharalēm ānandēm tribhuvana — sitting, sleeping, eating — with Govinda — the tribhuvana is filled with ānanda. Avaghiyām kēlī kāḷēm taḍātōḍī — avaśvaru ghaḍī purōm nayē — Kāḷa has done taḍātōḍī to (all) others — the avasvaru ghaḍī cannot be fulfilled (for them). Vāṇṭaṇī ghātalē śarīrāche bhāga — dujiyāchā lāga khaṇḍiyēlā — the body's parts are apportioned — the second's track is severed. Āvaḍīchyā ālēm āhārāsī rūpa — prthaka samkalpa māvaḷalē — to āhāra has come the form of āvaḍī — separate samkalpas have set. Kāma tarī krōdha buddhi mana nāsē — bhramāche vōḷasē giḷilē śāntī — kāma, krōdha, buddhi, mana perish — the vortices of bhrama are swallowed by śānti. Tukā mhaṇe manā Śrīrangāchā ranga — baisalā abhanga ēkavidha — Tukā says: in the mana the ranga of Śrīranga — settled, abhanga, ēkavidha.
What it means
A 5-verse text of fully-realized unified life. Three daily actions (sitting, sleeping, eating) are now done with Govinda — and tribhuvana is filled with ānanda. Kāḷa (Time) has now broken-apart every other claim on him — no other moment can ripen for him anymore (the path of samsāra-fruition is dead). The body has been "apportioned" — the body still functions but the dvaita-track is severed. Even āhāra (food) has taken on the form of his āvaḍī. Kāma-krodha-buddhi-mana perish, the vortices of bhrama are swallowed by śānti. The mana has settled, abhanga-ēkavidha, in Śrīranga's ranga.
For someone today
Realization is not an event — it is when sitting, sleeping, and eating quietly become with the Lord. The separating self-samkalpas set like a sun, and ordinary food now has the form of your love. Even bhrama's whirlpools dissolve into śānti.

- When you notice conflicting desires pulling your attention in different directions and long for that pull to settle
