Literal translation

What it means

A distorted-vision diagnosis abhang. Three image-clusters:

1. सर्प विंचू दिसे — धन अभाग्या कोळसे — serpent and scorpion appear; to the unfortunate, wealth looks like coal. Misperception under affliction. Wealth (real-good) appears as coal (worthless) — to the unfortunate. Serpent-and-scorpion (the dangers) appear-as-real even when not present. Abhāgyā-vision is fearful and inverted.

2. आला डोळ्यांसि कवळ — तेणें मळलें उजळ — kavaḷa came into the eyes — by that, the bright was dirtied. The kavaḷa (the mote / haze / film over the eye) makes the bright look dirty. The bright is not actually dirty; the eye-condition is the cause-of-the-appearance.

3. अंगाचे भोंवडी — भोय झाड फिरती धोंडी — in the body's spinning, the snake / earth, tree, stone all spin. The vertigo-image. When the body spins, the world appears to spin — but it is the body, not the world. The snake-tree-stone are stable; the spinning-perception is the body's.

4. तुका म्हणे नाड — पाप ठाके हिता आड — Tuka says: the nāḍa — pāpa stands in the way of hita. The closing-claim. Pāpa (sin / negative-karma) stands in the way of hita (good / benefit). The nāḍa (loss / failure) is structural: the pāpa-condition causes the distorted-vision; the hita is not received because pāpa stands in the way.

For someone today

This abhang names distorted-vision under pāpa-condition:

1. Misperception is real. Sarpa-vimcū dise; dhana abhāgyā kōḷasē. When in abhāgyā-state (afflicted, unfortunate, distressed), real-wealth appears as coal; non-existent dangers appear as real. The misperception is not random; it is driven by the abhāgyā-state.

2. The cause is in the eye, not in the world. Kavaḷa āḷā ḍoḷyāmsi. When the bright appears dirty, check whether the kavaḷa is in the eye. Don't blame the world for the dirtied-appearance; the eye-condition is the cause. (Compare 232's gone, dream-awoke — the prior-perception-was-the-dream-state.)

3. Body-vertigo makes the world spin in perception. Angāce bhomvaḍī. When you feel the world is spinning, check whether your body is spinning. The snake-tree-stone are stable; the spinning is yours.

4. Pāpa stands in the way of hita. Pāpa ṭhāke hitā āḍa. This is the structural claim: the pāpa-condition (the negative-karma residue, the unresolved-action-traces) blocks the hita. The hita is available; the pāpa-block is what prevents reception. Address the pāpa, not the hita-supply.

For today: when you find yourself seeing wealth-as-coal, seeing dangers-where-none-are, seeing-the-world-spinning, finding hita-blocked — check the eye, the body, the pāpa-condition. The world is not the problem; your-condition is.

This is not a moralism (= more pāpa = more punishment). It is a diagnostic: the distorted-vision is itself the pāpa-symptom; resolving the pāpa restores the hita-perception.

3. Body-vertigo world spinning दिसवतं. अंगाचे भोंवडी. तुम्हाला world spinning वाटत असेल — तुमचं body spinning आहे का check करा. Snake-tree-stone stable; spinning तुमचं.

4. पाप hita च्या आड उभं. पाप ठाके हिता आड. Structural claim: पाप-condition (negative-karma residue, unresolved-action-traces) hita block करतं. Hita available आहे; पाप-block reception रोखतो. पाप address करा, hita-supply नाही.

आज: तुम्ही wealth-as-coal पाहत असाल, dangers-कुठे-नाहीत-तिथे पाहत असाल, world-spinning पाहत असाल, hita-blocked दिसत असेल — eye, body, पाप-condition check करा. World problem नाही; तुमची-condition.

Moralism नाही (= अधिक पाप = अधिक punishment). Diagnostic: distorted-vision स्वतः पाप-symptom; पाप resolve केलं — hita-perception restore होते.
