The closing self-claim: नव्हें यांच्या ऐसा — तुका निरयवासी पिसा — (I am) not like them — Tuka, niraya-vāsī piśā (mad-living-in-naraka). Niraya-vāsī piśā — the mad one living in hell — radical-honest self-description. Tukaram does not claim saint-status; he claims piśā (mad / fool) status and naraka-residence.

(Reading: naraka-vāsī may also be biographical — Tukaram's life had poverty, social-hostility, family-tragedy; he calls his life-condition naraka. Piśā — fool / mad — is the honest-self-claim against all the religious-pretender-roles he has just listed.)

Tukaram lists everything he refuses to be — no tricks to fool people, no magic charms or instant miracles, no line of disciples to build a following, no monastery or property income, no idol-worship turned into a business, no fortune-telling or occult powers, no reciting scripture just to put on a show, no philosophical debate performed for applause, no showy fire rituals or bead-counting for effect, and no tantric manipulation of others. All he claims to do is sing God's praises through kirtan, and he offers this freely to anyone who happens to be listening, without picking and choosing his audience or gate-keeping it for insiders. He refuses every trapping of religious status and the whole economy that comes with it — no cloister, no property, no shop of piety. And instead of claiming any exalted rank, he calls himself, honestly, a madman living in hell — someone at the very bottom, not above anyone, which is exactly the point: real devotion needs none of that machinery, just honest practice, freely shared.
