Literal translation
English: Dream-things — I had been seized in vēṭhī; when ended at last, all became laṭikē. In vain made karuṇā — to reach the mūla of śiṇa. King, beggar, queen — what sthāna is theirs? What was suffered with the body — was true while not awake. Anubhava too says — sufferings opened the eyes. Tuka says: saints — at the end made (me) sāvacita — otherwise the ṭāḷī would have stayed sat.

What it means
A dream-as-vēṭhī abhang. Four claims:
-
स्वप्नीचिया गोष्टी — मज धरिलें होतें वेठी — जालिया सेवटीं जालें लटिकें सकळ — dream-things — I had been seized in vēṭhī — when ended, all became laṭikē. Vēṭhī — forced-labor / unpaid-conscription. The dream seized me as if into vēṭhī. When the dream ended, all (the seizure) became laṭikē (false). The suffering-while-asleep was a vēṭhī-illusion.
-
वायां भाकिली करुणा — मूळ पावावया सिणा — राव रंक राणा — कैंचे स्थानावरि — in vain made karuṇā to reach the mūla of śiṇa — king, beggar, queen — what sthāna? The mūla-of-strain was sought-in-vain; king, beggar, queen — what sthāna (true-position) do they have? In the dream, positions are not real-positions.
-
सोसिलें तें अंगें खरें होतें नव्हतां जागें — अनुभव ही सांगे — दुःखें डोळे उघडीले — suffered-with-body was true while not awake — anubhava says — sufferings opened the eyes. The sufferings were true only as long as not-awake; upon waking, they were false. The anubhava (experiential-realization) — the dukha itself opened the eyes. Suffering is its own waking-cue.
-
संतीं सावचित केलें अंतीं — नाहीं तरि टाळी बैसोनि राहिली — saints made me sāvacita at the end — otherwise the ṭāḷī would have remained. Sāvacita — alert, awake. Ṭāḷī — silenced-stuck-state (= the trance-locked state of the dreamer). The saints' intervention at the end woke me; otherwise the ṭāḷī would have remained.

For someone today
This abhang names the dream-as-vēṭhī frame:
-
Your suffering may be a vēṭhī*-illusion. Svapnīciyā gōṣṭī mage dharilē hōtē vēṭhī. The forced-labor-of-suffering may be dream-induced, not reality-induced. When the dream ends, all becomes laṭikē*.
-
In vain you seek the mūla-of-śiṇa*. The root-of-the-strain is not findable in the dream-frame. King, beggar, queen — what sthāna do they have? The positional-stress is illusory*.
-
Suffering opens the eyes. Anubhava — dukhē ḍoḷe ughaḍīle. The suffering itself is the waking-cue. When the suffering forces the awakening, it has done its work. Don't despair the suffering; receive it as the eye-opener.
-
The saints wake you at the end. Samtīm — sāvacita kēlē antīm. Without the saints' intervention, the ṭāḷī (stuck-trance) would have remained. The saints are the waking-mechanism. Trust them as such.
For today: recognize that some suffering is dream-vēṭhī; recognize that suffering itself is the eye-opener; receive the saints' intervention as the waking-mechanism.
This abhang is psychologically liberating: it offers the dream-frame for false-suffering and the saint-mechanism for waking. The ṭāḷī is not eternal; the saints break it.
Dream ended की all becomes laṭikē*.
-
Positional-stress illusory*.
-
Suffering force-the-awakening करतं तेव्हा its work done.
Saints waking-mechanism.
Where this applies
- Dream-suffering ends as laṭikē. Vēṭhī-frame.
- In vain seek the mūla-of-śiṇa. Positions are dream-positions.
- Suffering opens eyes. Self-waking-cue.
- Saints wake at the end. Trust the mechanism.
